Free-agent linebacker Nick Vigil agreed to a deal with the Jets on Saturday. The veteran was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft and played most of his career in Cincinnati before making stops in Los Angeles (Chargers), Minnesota, and Arizona. He appeared in only four games for the Cardinals in 2022, totaling 13 tackles. New York also agreed to a contract with linebacker Sam Eguavoen while announcing the releases of Hamsah Nasirildeen and Maalik Hall.
Free-agent linebackers Nick Vigil and Sam Eguavoen have gone through workouts with the New York Giants. The team already has Bobby Okereke locked into a starting role, but they have a hole next to him. That being said, the Giants decided to add some veterans to help boost their depth at the position. Vigil only played in four games last season with the Arizona Cardinals. Outside of that, he has been a reliable option for multiple teams. Eguavoen has mainly been a depth option over the last four seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Vigil seems like the more reliable player between the two, but we'll see what happens in training camp.
Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Nick Vigil (knee) suffered a sprained MCL in the Week 6 loss to the Steelers and is expected to be out for around a month, according to a source. The strongside linebacker has been a beast this year for the Bengals, accumulating 51 tackles in six games. His loss will be felt as they head into Week 7 against the high-flying Chiefs defense on Sunday night. Expect Vincent Rey to fill in for Vigil moving forward.
