The Tennessee Titans re-signed linebacker Ola Adeniyi to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday, according to his agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha. Adeniyi finished his first season in Tennessee last year with a career-high 21 tackles (14 solo), eight QB hits, 2.5 sacks and a pass defensed in 16 games (zero starts). He was named a Pro Bowl alternate on special teams and figures to play limited defensive snaps in his second year with the team in 2022, putting him well off the fantasy radar in IDP leagues. Adeniyi spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, making just 16 solo tackles and forcing three fumbles in 32 games (one start).
Former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker/special teams ace Ola Adeniyi signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans on Monday, according to a source. The Titans also officially signed offensive lineman Ty Sambrailo and veteran defensive back Kevin Johnson. Adeniyi played on 144 defensive snaps last year in Pittsburgh, but the vast majority of his playing time has come on special teams. He had 286 special teams snaps in 2020, finishing with 16 combined tackles (11 solo). The 23-year-old figures to be near the bottom of the defensive depth chart but could have a significant role on special teams if he makes the team out of training camp. Johnson had 34 tackles and three passes defensed in 13 games with the Cleveland Browns in 2020.
With the salary cap tight this year, the Pittsburgh Steelers are unable to tender impending restricted free-agent special teams ace and backup outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi, according to a source. He'll become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year starts next Wednesday, March 17. Adeniyi was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo in 2018 and had played his entire career with the Steelers. He has recorded 25 combined tackles and one tackle for a loss in his three seasons with Pittsburgh. There's a chance the team could bring him back at a cheaper cost. The lowest tender amount this year is $2.133 million. Adeniyi played 14 percent of the team's defensive snaps in 2020.
