The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed running back Patrick Laird to a one-year deal. The 26-year-old has spent each of the last three seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Laird hasn't done much each of the last two seasons, but did make an impact in 2019. On paper, Laird is a capable pass catcher who can also contribute in the running game as well. However, the Bucs have a fairly decent amount of depth right now. It's tough to imagine Laird making an impact unless a few injuries happen. At the moment, fantasy managers can avoid Laird in fantasy leagues.
Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Laird (knee) is expected to miss multiple weeks and could land on Injured Reserve after suffering an MCL sprain in the Week 13 win over the New York Giants. Laird was injured in the first quarter and never returned. Playing behind Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed this year, Laird hasn't been fantasy relevant at all and has just one carry for four yards and three catches for 17 yards in six games played in 2021. Newly signed running back Phillip Lindsay (ankle) missed Sunday's game after making his debut in Week 12. The Dolphins will be on bye in Week 14, so Ahmed and Lindsay could be fighting for offensive snaps in Week 15 against the New York Jets behind Ahmed.
Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Laird (knee) has been ruled out of Sunday's content against the Los Angeles Chargers. With Phillip Lindsay not active, this leaves Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed to serve as the team's running backs for the rest of the game. Expect most of the carries to continue going to Gaskin.
Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Laird was expected to be the main receiving back last week with Myles Gaskin (knee) sidelined. However, the Dolphins only targeted him one time through the air. Laird saw one target and one rushing attempt in the victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Both Gaskin and Matt Breida (hamstring) are still banged up, but clearly Laird is not going to be part of their offensive gameplan. Fantasy owners who took a chance on Laird can feel safe about giving up on that now.
Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Laird is expected to have a role against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9. This season, Laird has three receptions on three targets and zero attempts on the ground. However, his workload is likely going to increase with Myles Gaskin (knee) and Matt Breida (hamstring) sidelined versus the Cardinals. Jordan Howard is expected to be the lead back, while Laird likely handles the receiving work in the backfield. Laird won't be trustworthy in most formats against a tough Cardinals Defense. At best, Laird is a desperation PPR option for deep leagues.
The last man standing in the backfield, Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Laird was a non-factor in fantasy on Sunday, rushing for 46 yards and scoring just four points in standard leagues. Laird was even more ineffective in the passing game, catching two of his five targets for eight yards. In theory, Laird will have a better matchup in Week 16, facing a Cincinnati defense thats allowing the seventh-most points to running backs this season but its not as if the Giants were that much better, having had allowed the 15th-most prior to the matchup with Miami. Even facing the one-win Bengals, Laird is only a desperate play with fantasy championships on the line.
