Rashard Higgins Inactive For Week 3

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Rashard Higgins won't be active in Week 3 against the Washington Football Team. Considering he took just vie offensive snaps in Week 2, this move shouldn't come as a big surprise. Higgins was getting some preseason hype, but it's time to pull the ripcord if you're still rostering him in redraft leagues. KhaDarel Hodge has solidified a role as the No. 3 receiver in Cleveland, and we'll see a little more of JoJo Natson today, though not enough to make any kind of fantasy movement happen.

Rashard Higgins Has Good Shot At No. 3 WR Gig

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Rashard Higgins has a good chance to be the team's No. 3 receiver behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry to begin the 2020 season, in the opinion of The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. Higgins has an advantage over rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones because he already has chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield. Peoples-Jones will also have very few on-field repetitions with Mayfield because of the coronavirus restrictions. Head coach Kevin Stefanski ran three-wide sets only 25 percent of the time as the offensive coordinator in Minnesota, however, and the Browns have two capable tight ends in Austin Hooper and David Njoku. Running back Kareem Hunt can also run routes out of the backfield. Higgins has a leg up on the No. 3 wideout job, but it's unlikely to produce fantasy relevant numbers in this stacked offense.

Rashard Higgins Returns To Browns

The Cleveland Browns announced on Friday that they have re-signed wide receiver Rashard Higgins. The veteran receiver had a rough 2019 season but will return to Cleveland on a one-year deal in attempts to earn a bigger contract next offseason. Higgins struggled through a knee injury early in 2019 and wound up catching just four passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Higgins was originally a fifth-round draft pick by the team back in 2016 and broke out for 39 catches for 572 yards and four touchdowns in 2018. Outside of being a deep stash in dynasty leagues, Higgins will need an injury in front of him to make a difference in fantasy in 2020.
