Richie Incognito News
Free-agent offensive guard Richie Incognito announced his retirement from professional football on Friday. "Football has taught me a strong work ethic, a willing to get better every day and a desire to continue growing. It has taught me that while what you get is important, who you become is more important. All of these lessons I'll take with me into the next chapter. Because today, I'm officially retiring from the NFL," Incognito wrote in a statement. The 39-year-old stepped away from football in 2018 but returned to play two seasons with the Raiders. Incognito was originally a third-round pick by the Rams in 2005, and he played in 13 seasons with four different NFL teams while making four Pro Bowl squads.
Las Vegas Raiders left guard Richie Incognito (calf) is not expected to play on Monday night against the Ravens. While addressing the media, head coach Jon Gruden said, "I don't think he's going to play." Gruden also mentioned that he believes there is a "good chance" that Incognito returns in Week 2. The 38-year-old appeared on the field for just 74 snaps through two games last season due to a foot injury. Now, he's battling a calf ailment. John Simpson is expected to fill in for the veteran at left guard. From a fantasy perspective, this certainly does not help Josh Jacobs or Kenyan Drake, both of whom already had concerns due to the general state of the offensive line.
Las Vegas Raiders offensive guard Richie Incognito (undisclosed) could potentially rejoin the team at practice next week, head coach Jon Gruden told the media on Thursday. Incognito has not practiced with the team since sustaining an undisclosed injury in a scrimmage with the LA Rams a couple of weeks ago. The 32-year-old, who signed a one-year deal with the Raiders this offseason, is expected to be a key piece of Vegas' o-line this season. The Raiders no doubt want Incognito game-ready sooner rather than later, especially against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1.
