Sammy Watkins Posts 79 Yards And A Fumble In Week 18 Loss
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins caught two out of his four targets for 79 yards and lost a fumble in the season finale loss. A bulk of his total yardage came during a 47-yard catch in the fourth quarter which he then proceeded to fumble and erase many of their chances of a comeback. The 29-year-old journeyman doesn't play a huge part in this offense but can contribute in small doses. He'll remain higher up on the depth chart due to all of the injuries when the Ravens go back to Cincinnati for their Wild Card matchup with the Bengals.
The Baltimore Ravens have decided to claim wide receiver Sammy Watkins off waivers from the Green Bay Packers. The 29-year-old was cut by Green Bay ahead of their Week 15 matchup with the Tennessee Titans. The former first round pick had 13 receptions for 206 yards and no touchdowns through nine games with the Packers. The young wideouts on this roster were stepping up, so the Packers decided to go in a different direction. The Ravens are in need of a wide receiver after placing Devin Duvernay (foot) on the injured reserve. Watkins could immediately slide into a starting role on this team. However, fantasy managers shouldn't have high expectations for Watkins with Tyler Huntley under center.
The Green Bay Packers are releasing wide receiver Sammy Watkins on Monday, according to sources. Watkins will go on waivers and will surely attract some interest around the league. With rookie Romeo Doubs (ankle) returning from an extended absence on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams, Watkins became the odd man out in the receiving room in Green Bay. The former first-round pick has played a grand total of 11 offensive snaps in the last two games and hasn't caught a pass since Week 10 against Dallas. On the year, Watkins has just 13 receptions for 206 yards and no touchdowns on 22 targets over nine games played. He belongs firmly on the waiver wire and is unlikely to find his way into a substantial role with another team to close out the 2022 season.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins played just four offensive snaps in Sunday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and he wasn't targeted at all in the passing game. Watkins fell out of favor in Green Bay's game plan against the Eagles, with rookie Christian Watson, Allen Lazard and veteran slot man Randall Cobb serving as the three primary receivers alongside tight end Robert Tonyan. Watkins is still searching for his first touchdown of the season, and he has just three catches for 47 yards in the last three games combined for Green Bay. Fantasy managers can't realistically consider him for starting lineups, even in deeper leagues.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. He returned Thursday after being absent from Wednesday's session due to a knee injury. Per Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, the veteran wide receiver is dealing with some "bumps and bruises." The 29-year-old has been quiet since returning from the injured reserve in Week 7. He has four catches on 10 targets for 48 yards over three games. If active, Watkins will have an expanded role with Romeo Doubs (ankle) out for 4-to-6 weeks. Despite the increased role, fantasy managers can avoid starting Watkins against the Cowboys in Week 10.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins (knee) didn't practice Wednesday. Per Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, the veteran wide receiver is dealing with some "bumps and bruises." The 29-year-old has been quiet since returning from the injured reserve in Week 7. He has four catches on 10 targets for 48 yards over three games. The Packers are banged up at wide receiver as Romeo Doubs (ankle) is out for four-to-six weeks while Allen Lazard (shoulder) and Christian Watson (concussion) are dealing with injuries. If Watkins is active, he is not on the fantasy radar against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (thumb) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (knee) both missed practice on Wednesday. Rodgers continues to be limited in what he can do in practice to kick off the week, but he always has returned on Thursday and Friday and hasn't missed a game due to the injury. It seems like every single one of his receivers are currently injured. It's sad to say, but Rodgers has become a low-upside QB2 in fantasy with the lack of receiving talent around him. Watkins hasn't been 100 percent since coming off Injured Reserve in Week 7. Despite plenty of opportunity in the receiving room with everyone else seemingly injured, he has just four catches on 10 targets for 48 yards. Watkins must get healthy and on the same page with Rodgers before fantasy managers will even look at him.
Sammy Watkins Held To One Reception Against Former Team
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins caught his lone target and gained three yards during the team's 27-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. Coming into the game as the No. 1 wide receiver on the depth chart, the 29-year-old failed to get open for quarterback Aaron Rodgers against the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Fantasy managers were expecting little from Watkins against a tough Buffalo secondary, but many assumed he would garner more than one target. Allen Lazard (shoulder) has a chance to return next week, and if he does, Watkins should be considered nothing more than a WR4/5, even in a plus matchup against a weak Detroit Lions secondary. He can safely be dropped to the waiver wire in favor of a more appealing option.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins will travel to Buffalo Sunday to face the Bills. The 29-year-old returned to the field last week after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 2, recording four targets while playing 52% of the snaps. With Allen Lazard (shoulder) out, Watkins should step into the No. 1 wide receiver spot for the Packers. However, the passing attack for Green Bay has struggled mightily through seven weeks, and Buffalo is allowing the eighth-fewest fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. Watkins can be used as a FLEX option in 14-to-16-team leagues due to valuable receivers in Kansas City and Los Angeles being on bye. However, the veteran receiver carries a low ceiling because of the stiff matchup and could easily record fewer than five total fantasy points.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. After missing the last four weeks, the 29-year-old returned to action last Sunday against the Washington Commanders and caught two of his four targets, gaining 36 yards. He has been dealing with a hamstring issue and could be limited at practice this week. Watkins has eight catches for 147 yards and is third on Green Bay's WR depth chart behind Allen Lazard and Romeo Dobbs. The veteran wideout is a boom-or-bus option against the Buffalo Bills if active in Week 8.
