The Texans waived running back Scottie Phillips off of injured reserve on Thursday after waiving him from the 90-man roster in May with an injury designation. The 24-year-old played 11 games over the previous two seasons, although he hardly saw the field. He'll likely visit a few teams heading into training camp, although he's certainly not guaranteed to get a contract from another squad.
The Houston Texans placed running back Scottie Phillips (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday and claimed running back Royce Freeman off waivers from the Carolina Panthers in a corresponding move. Phillips is dealing with a high ankle sprain and will be forced to miss at least the next three games, but he should have a chance at returning later this season. In only three games in 2021, the 24-year-old has six carries for 13 yards. The Houston backfield, and offense in general, has been a wasteland for fantasy production this year outside of wide receiver Brandin Cooks. David Johnson, Phillip Lindsay and Rex Burkhead will continue to split touches in a backfield that fantasy managers should try to avoid at all costs.
