The Pittsburgh Steelers cut linebacker Tae Crowder, who had a short stint on their practice squad at the end of the season. Crowder, the New York Giants' final pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, was a productive IDP fantasy football starter in 2021 despite being poorly graded by PFF. Crowder made 130 combined tackles and two interceptions in his second season. He lost his starting job in 2022 and was released by the Giants. If Crowder does find a spot in an injury-depleted lineup during the 2023 season, he could be a waiver wire add in IDP leagues. The Steelers also cut linebacker Emeke Egbule and signed linebacker Toby Ndukwe.
New York Giants linebacker Tae Crowder (hamstring) has been ruled out for at least the next three contests after he was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury. Crowder delivered the game-winning touchdown during Sundays win over Washington on a 42-yard fumble recovery, and he has compiled 18 tackles over his first five career games. His absence will give the Giants Defense a hole in their depth at the linebacker position, but irrespective of Crowders presence, the unit does not likely merit much fantasy consideration at this stage. The next chance that Crowder has to suit up will be Week 10 against Philadelphia.
Giants Make Tae Crowder This Year's Mr. Irrelevant
The New York Giants used the 255th and final pick of the 2020 NFL Draft on Georgia linebacker Tae Crowder. Mr. Irrelevant is a great athlete who will be a backup while the Giants attempt to harness his pure athleticism. He needs help in coverage and struggles to shed blocks in the run game, so he has a ways to go to be a contributor in the NFL. But a player with Crowder's skill set is worth taking a flyer on at the end of the draft.
