Tanner Muse Set To Make NFL Debut In Raiders Preseason Opener
Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Tanner Muse is set to make his NFL debut in Saturday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. The 24-year-old Clemson product missed his entire rookie campaign due to a toe injury. It's difficult to say right now exactly how much fantasy value Muse brings to the table given he hasn't played an NFL series yet and because he is making the move to linebacker after playing safety during his college career. During his tenure with the Tigers, however, Muse registered 191 total tackles and seven interceptions.
Raiders Defense Loses Tanner Muse For Rest Of Season
Las Vegas Raiders rookie linebacker Tanner Muse (toe) underwent surgery on his toe on Monday and will miss the rest of the season, according to a source. The third-rounder had been on Injured Reserve while trying non-surgical options while learning a new position during team meetings. A full recovery is expected and Muse should be ready for the 2021 season. The 24-year-old was taken with the 100th overall pick and is a safety/linebacker hybrid out of Clemson. Muse has yet to play a game in the NFL, but his aggressive and physical style should play on special teams and at least in a rotational role on defense when he returns in 2021.
The Las Vegas Raiders added to their secondary with the 100th pick in the NFL draft, selecting safety Tanner Muse out of Clemson. Though he is quick and has potential, Muse may prove to be an issue when it comes to coverage. Nevertheless, the Clemson product finished with 73 tackles, two sacks and four interceptions in 15 games played in 2019. With former Cowboy Jeff Heath and former Brown Damarious Randall slated to start at safety for Vegas in 2020, Muse may not see meaningful playing time right away.
