Former Houston Texans defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth signed with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday on an undisclosed one-year deal, according to his agent, Brett Tessler. The sixth-year defensive tackle played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Texans last year and was with the Indianapolis Colts and new Panthers head coach prior to that. The 27-year-old injured his hamstring in minicamp and received an injury settlement from the Texans, but now he'll head to Carolina to compete for defensive-line depth. Stallworth had only eight tackles (three solo) in seven games (zero starts) last year, and he has a total of 52 tackles (30 solo), 4.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, 14 QB hits and two fumble recoveries in his five NFL seasons.
Free-agent defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, according to his agent, Brett Tessler. Stallworth played in 32 games the last two seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, but he made just two starts and totaled 16 solo tackles (five for loss), 13 QB hits, 3.5 sacks, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery. He managed a career-high three sacks last season, but he'll likely remain a rotational piece on the defensive line. The 26-year-old played his first two NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Stallworth has a total of 44 tackles (27 solo), six tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, 4.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries in 50 games (two starts) in four seasons.
The Indianapolis Colts are not expected to tender restricted free-agent defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth, according to his agent. However, the Colts haven't ruled out bringing Stallworth back in 2022 after he recorded 16 tackles and three sacks for the Colts last season. The 26-year-old also had 16 tackles (11 solo), four tackles for loss and 12 QB hits in 16 games (one start) in 2021. In his four seasons in the NFL, Stallworth has 44 tackles (27 solo), six tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, two fumble recoveries and 4.5 sacks in 50 games (two starts) with the Colts and New Orleans Saints.
