Tom Brady Won't Rule Out Return To NFL

Retired quarterback Tom Brady stated on Thursday that he wouldn't rule out returning to the NFL late in a season if a team calls in an "emergency situation." Brady, who retired from the league at the conclusion of the 2022 season, has had his name pop up in several rumors since hanging up his cleats. It appears that he still has the itch to play, but it remains to be seen whether he would actually wind up returning to the league or if a team would want his services.

Jets Won't Inquire About Tom Brady

The New York Jets will not be inquiring with retired quarterback Tom Brady about any interest in a return to football after Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending torn left Achilles on Monday night in the win over the Buffalo Bills, according to sources. Brady has also made it clear to people close to him that his playing days are officially over. That puts an end to those with hopes that we'd see the GOAT back in a football uniform in 2023. Rodgers' injury has thrust Zach Wilson back into a starting role, and Tim Boyle is the only other signal-caller on the team's roster, so they'll surely be looking to bring in another QB to give them more depth. It just won't be the best quarterback to ever play the game.

Tom Brady "Certain" He'll Remain Retired

Free-agent quarterback Tom Brady told Sports Illustrated that he won't un-retire. "I'm certain I'm not playing again, so I've tried to make that clear and I hate to continue to profess that," said Brady. "I've already told people that lots of times." He later commented that being involved as an owner is a "dream come true." Many have speculated that the 45-year-old could be back under center in 2023-24 as a member of the Raiders, especially if he successfully purchases a piece of the franchise. Talk about Brady's potential comeback picked up more steam after it was reported Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) hadn't passed a physical. That said, it sounds like the multi-time Super Bowl winner is done playing, although most won't believe it until he isn't on the field this season.

Tom Brady Could Potentially Hold Multiple Roles In Vegas

Free-agent quarterback Tom Brady remains retired. Yet, it appears the multi-time Super Bowl Champion has a better chance of suiting up, even while owning a part of the Raiders. It seemed impossible, but TMZ has since reported that 24 teams, not 32, could vote in favor of Brady holding multiple roles with the franchise. However, separate votes would be held for each scenario, one to approve the ownership stake and the other for Brady to play while owning a piece of the team. Of course, the 45-year-old would need to un-retire for a second time, something many believe won't ever happen. But this situation is starting to gain traction heading toward training camp. That said, Brady's return to the field won't be good news for Jimmy Garoppolo (foot), who is working on getting cleared after having surgery this offseason.

Tom Brady Could Join Raiders Ownership

There has already been talk about quarterback Tom Brady coming out of retirement to play for the Miami Dolphins. Now, the word is that Brady could pull out of his broadcasting agreement with Fox Sports and join Mark Davis as a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders. The 45-year-old doesn't seem ready to give up on the game of football, but it seems he's uncertain what he wants to do. The Raiders front office would certainly benefit from having a Hall of Fame player such as Brady around. It's unlikely that Brady is going to make up his mind anytime soon, so this could be a story all offseason long.

Tom Brady Non-Committal On Unretiring, Playing For Dolphins

When asked whether there was "any chance you're coming out of retirement and playing for the Miami Dolphins" at eMerge Americas on Thursday at the Miami Beach Convention Center, retired quarterback Tom Brady was non-committal. "I will say now that I'm not affiliated with any team anymore, even though I have strong ties with a couple teams, I do have some friends on the Dolphins that I really like," Brady said. "So, I wouldn't say I necessarily root for them all the time, but I root for my friends to do well, and several of them play for Miami." While not completely far-fetched, it's still a long shot that Brady will come out of retirement to play in Miami, especially after the team exercised Tua Tagovailoa's fifth-year option for 2024. There are plenty of folks that would love Brady to unretire for a second straight season, but it doesn't mean it's actually going to happen.

Tom Brady Might Not Be Done Yet

Shortly after this past season ended, quarterback Tom Brady decided to retire from the NFL. The 45-year-old signal-caller retired last offseason before deciding to rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the season started. Now, rumors are starting to float around that Brady might come back once again. This time, Brady is rumored to possibly be returning to play for the Miami Dolphins. A return to the Dolphins wouldn't be too crazy considering that offense is stacked with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill at wide receiver. It's uncertain if Tua Tagovailoa will be ready to play right away after suffering multiple concussions last season. Brady has already come out of retirement once, so it wouldn't be too shocking to see it happen again.

Buccaneers To Rebuild Following Tom Brady's Retirement

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to go into full rebuild mode after quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement earlier this month. Their biggest offseason priority is to get their books in order after pushing a bunch of salary cap hits into the future in the three years that Brady was in Tampa. They are currently around $55 million over the cap, with $35 million of that being Brady's. But they are expected to absorb all of that in 2023. The Bucs like quarterback Kyle Trask a lot, but they'll be in the veteran QB market this offseason as well. San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent QB Jimmy Garoppolo is a player they like, but they may not have the finances to get it done. In order to create some savings, Tampa could cut left tackle Donovan Smith to save over $5 million.

Tom Brady Files Retirement Papers Friday

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady officially fired a letter on Friday with the NFL and NFL Players Association, reconfirming his Feb. 1 retirement, according to sources. For those still with hope that Brady would back out of retirement for a second time in two years, this silences any questions about whether he might return and makes him eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2028. We have a sneaking suspicion he'll get in on his first try. The 45-year-old was already the greatest QB in the history of the NFL well before he even joined the Buccaneers to win his seventh Super Bowl ring. Brady spent 23 illustrious years in the league and will walk away as the NFL's all-time leader in passing yards (89,214) and touchdown passes (649). He won seven Super Bowl rings, was named the Super Bowl MVP five times and also earned three NFL MVP awards.

Tom Brady Announces Retirement From The NFL

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday. He played 23 seasons and won seven Super Bowls, six with the Patriots and one with the Bucs. The 45-year-old finishes his career with 89,214 passing yards, 649 touchdowns, and 212 interceptions over 335 games. He holds the record for passing touchdowns, passing yards, completions, wins, and quarterback starts. The GOAT announced his retirement last year on February 1st, 2022, but after 40 days unretired, and returned to the Bucs for one more season. He showed no signs of slowing down at age 45, throwing for 4,694 yards and a 25:9 TD: INT ratio over 17 games in 2022. Brady is the GOAT and an absolute NFL legend. Now that Brady's football career is over, he signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports to be an on-air lead NFL analyst. Tampa Bay is in rebuild mode without Brady and will start the quarterback search to replace the GOAT in 2023.
