Tom Brady, Teammates Still Working Out Privately

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and at least a dozen Bucs players were back working out on Tuesday despite an NFL Players Association doctor recently recommending that players stop private workouts amid a rising number of COVID-19 cases across the country in recent weeks. Tampa Bay has also had multiple members of the team test positive for coronavirus within the past week. Other players present for the Tuesday workout included tight end Rob Gronkowski, wide receiver Chris Godwin, quarterback Blaine Gabbert, center Ryan Jensen, safety Mike Edwards and cornerback Jamel Dean. Brady obviously feels the risk is worth the reward of gaining chemistry with his new teammates heading into training camp next month. The 43-year-old doesn't have a ton of upside at this point in his career, but he'll surely be a QB1 streamer with a great receiving duo in Godwin and Mike Evans in 2020.

Byron Leftwich, Tom Brady Bonding

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich was playing for the Jaguars, Falcons, Steelers and Buccaneers when quarterback Tom Brady was becoming a star in the NFL with the Patriots some 15 years ago. "The history that he understands, the history that I understand, the ability for us to be able to talk top-level football, high-level football," Leftwich said. Brady won his second Super Bowl the same season that Leftwich All-Rookie team. Brady also outdueled Leftwich in a game that year, completing 22 of 34 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns against Jacksonville. The Patriots beat Leftwich two years later in the playoffs, 28-3. The 42-year-old Brady doesn't have high-end upside anymore despite an improved supporting cast in Tampa, but he'll be an acceptable low-end QB1 if you want to wait on the position in 2020.

Tom Brady Was Fourth-Best Deep Passer In 2019

Despite having a down year in 2019 overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was actually the fourth-best deep passer, per Next Gen Stats. He had seven touchdowns and only two interceptions on deep balls with Julian Edelman as his top target. Brady was pressured often (40.7 percent) and was throwing to receivers that were often covered deep down the field. The 42-year-old had a completion percentage of 38.9 on deep passes and an expected completion percentage of 31.4 on those throws. Brady is getting older and might not have the same arm strength, but he suddenly has the best receiving duo in the league and can still pass for a QB1, albeit a low-end one without a ton of upside.
