Tony Romo Breaks Bone in Back, May Resume Training in Three Weeks
Tony Romo has broken a bone in his back, which will severely limit his fantasy output for the 2016 season. He avoided any ligament damage, which puts him on a 3-to-6 week timetable before he can begin training again. After that, he will need several more weeks to get back into football shape. Owner Jerry Jones has no timetable for his return to action, saying it could be "four to six, six to eight, eight to 10 (weeks)." A return after the team's Week 7 bye would be an ideal spot, but if he is placed on IR he will miss the first eight weeks of action. Romo was a popular late-round QB grab in the potent Cowboys offense. Now with Dak Prescott at the helm, it's anyone guess how it will affect Dez Bryant and Ezekiel Elliot.
Tony Romo Looking Good After Injury, Great Low Round QB
Tony Romo has looked good so far in his return from last year's collar bone injury that cost him 12 regular season games. Jason Witten, long time Cowboys tight end, said Romo is throwing the ball now as well as he ever has. After only four games played last season and breaking his collar bone twice, this sounds like good news. Romo is a great quarterback to take late in drafts. He could easily return to his 2014 numbers of 3,705 passing yards 34 TDs and only 9 picks. With a fully healthy Dez Bryant and Ezekiel Elliot heading a talented backfield, the sky is the limit for this offense. Romo is being drafted in the seventh to eighth rounds in 12-team leagues. If he stays healthy, he will make owners who draft him in that spot very happy.
