The Detroit Lions released running back Tra Carson, long snapper James Fisher, offensive guard Casey Tucker and punter Matt Wile on Monday. Detroit added running backs D'Andre Swift and Jason Huntley in the draft this past weekend, so they're trimming the fat with Carson. The 27-year-old split time with the Lions and Packers in 2019, running the ball just 18 times total for 48 scoreless yards in three games (one start). He was merely running back depth in Detroit and helped fill in when Kerryon Johnson went down with an injury last year. Wherever he lands, Carson won't be on the fantasy radar.
The Detroit Lions placed running back Tra Carson (hamstring) on the Injured Reserve on Saturday and signed running back Paul Perkins to the active roster from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Carson surprisingly led the Kerryon Johnson-less backfield in carries last week, but he'll now miss the rest of the season. Rookie Ty Johnson will now be a more attractive RB3/flex in deeper leagues against Oakland, while J.D. McKissic will serve as a change-of-pace back. Perkins should serve as the No. 3 in Detroit.
Detroit Lions running back Tra Carson (hamstring) and defensive tackle Damon Harrison (groin) were both limited in practice on Friday and are questionable for Week 9 against the Raiders. Carson led the backfield in carries in the first week without Kerryon Johnson, but the Lions still operated as more of a three-headed monster with rookie Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic also involved. If Carson is inactive, it'd make Johnson more attractive as an RB3/flex in deeper leagues. If Carson does play, this is a situation best avoided if at all possible. Harrison being absent would be great news for Raiders rookie running back Josh Jacobs.
Detroit Lions running back Tra Carson (hamstring) landed on the injury report on Thursday and was listed as a limited practice participant. Carson surprisingly saw the most touches in Detroit's backfield in Week 8 in the first game minus Kerryon Johnson, but he still managed just 12 carries for 34 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game. It's still hard to predict what Detroit will do moving forward, but it could very well be a committee approach involving Carson, rookie Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic. It's a situation to avoid if at all possible, as the three won't have very high ceilings if they're all involved. Carson will be an RB4/flex in deep leagues if he plays, but Johnson will become a more attractive flex option if Carson can't play.
Detroit Lions running back Tra Carson led the Lions backfield in touches just one week after being claimed off of waivers and will look to establish himself in Week 9 in a matchup against the Oakland Raiders. Carson totaled 34 yards while backfield mate Ty Johnson put up just 25 yards on seven touches in Week 8, with neither back really ever able to seize control. The Raiders run defense is a very solid unit but their secondary is one of the worst in the league, so Carson's work may be limited in this one as Stafford may opt to air it out more often. Carson may be a viable option for fantasy owners in deeper leagues, but until this backfield picture gets clearer he should largely be avoided.
Detroit Lions running back Tra Carson finished with 34 yards on 12 carries during the win over the Giants on Sunday. After getting claimed off of waivers a little over a week ago, Carson outpaced Ty Johnson, who had just seven attempts for an abysmal 25 yards. With the team next heading to Oakland for a showdown with the Raiders, expect Carson to be a popular Week 9 waiver wire target for those in deeper formats.
Green Bay Packers running back Tra Carson is ahead of rookie Dexter Williams on the depth chart because of his work in pass protection, according to head coach Matt LaFleur. Williams will have a chance to climb the depth chart as the season wears on, but to begin he's behind Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams and Carson. He's strictly one to stash in dynasty/keeper leagues for now.
Green Bay Packers running back Tra Carson managed to get into the end zone in the preseason matchup against the Oakland Raiders. The Packers opted to go with the duo of Carson and Dexter Williams in the encounter. Carson finished the game with 32 yards and a touchdown from nine carries and caught a pass for 11 yards. Carson has struggled on the field during preseason, and if he were to make the roster he would be buried behind Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, and Dexter Williams
Green Bay Packers Tra Carson continues to struggle to make an impact on the field. In the Packers game against the Baltimore Ravens, he was limited to just nine yards on the ground from six attempts and caught his single target for seven yards. Carson is buried on the depth chart and looks more likely to be a cut candidate than being able to see the field this season.
Green Bay Packers running back Tra Carson struggled to make any sort of impact in the teams opener against the Houston Texans. Carson was the second string back, behind rookie Dexter Williams in the game, and was only able to rush for 15 yards and catch a single pass for 10 yards. While it's clear that Carson and Williams are behind Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams in the depth chart, performances like this one will mean he is far more likely to be cut than be fantasy relevant this season.
