A day after releasing wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, the Jacksonville Jaguars have released the player who most expected had earned the sixth receiver job, Tre McBride. This move seems to indicate that C.J. Board -- who had the best preseason of any Jaguars receiver -- is going to make the team, though there's still a chance the team looks for outside help at the position. McBride's played well enough to find a new home, but not well enough to assume he'll carve out a solid role with a new team. Meanwhile, C.J. Board will probably be used very, very situationally with the Jaguars, making him not fantasy relevant at this juncture.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Tre McBride is right there on the roster bubble, but he tried to assert himself and claim that final receiver spot in Thursday's preseason loss to the Falcons. McBride had three catches for a team-high 37 yards. He was targeted seven times. Will he wind up as the sixth receiver in Jacksonville? Maybe: The Athletic's Phillip Heilman was McBride in and an injured Terrelle Pryor out in his latest projection. McBride might not have any fantasy relevance this season, but making the roster would be a good first step for him.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Tre McBride had four receptions for 47 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished second on the team in both receptions and yards to wide receiver C.J. Board, but McBride's performance was the big takeaway from the receiving corps. Beyond the top three of Dede Westbrook, D.J. Chark, and Chris Conley, a lot is up in the air with regards to who'll make this Jaguars team at receiver, and McBride has been pushing hard for a role. If he continues to play like this in the preseason, Jacksonville will have to make room for him.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Tre McBride was the only player on the Jaguars' team to catch more than one pass in Thursday's preseason loss to the Ravens. McBride caught three passes for 42 yards and was targeted five times. McBride's probably not a factor for the Jags in the regular season, but he could continue to lead the team in receiving this preseason as the team rests many of its veteran players.
The Chicago Bears waived wide receiver Tre McBride on Tuesday. In eight games for the Bears this year, McBride only managed eight receptions for 144 scoreless yards. He wasn't anywhere close to being on the fantasy radar to begin with. Dontrelle Inman remains Chicago's No. 1 receiver, although he's still on the WR4/5 borderline in a run-first offense.
Tre McBride caught three passes for 92 yards as the Bears came up short to the Saints 20-12. McBride was a fringe, practice squad player to begin the year but has ascended due to the mounting injuries on offense for the Bears. He got off to a great start, catching a 45-yard pass from Mitch Trubisky in the fourth quarter but had a quiet second half. The Bears will have a bye week coming up and will introduce newly acquired wide receiver Dontrelle Inman to the lineup when they return. McBride will rise up the fantasy ranks but isn't a player worth targeting just yet.
Bears Claim Tre McBride, Taquan Mizzell Off Waivers
The Chicago Bears claimed wide receiver Tre McBride and running back Taquan Mizzell off waivers Sunday. McBride caught just two passes in his two years with Tennessee and just figures to provide the Bears with some receiving depth after they lost Cameron Meredith (knee) for the season. Mizzell was busy in the preseason for the Ravens, but he may eventually be pushed to the practice squad in Chicago.
