Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin caught all four targets for 37 yards during Saturday's loss to the Steelers. Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) wasn't in the lineup, meaning extra targets were up for grabs. While Tee Higgins was the clear beneficiary, finishing with five receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown, Irwin had one of his best showings of the 2023-24 campaign. The 28-year-old had eight catches (10 targets) versus the Cardinals in early October, so he can get hot. However, Irwin isn't a trustworthy fantasy option in Week 17 versus the Chiefs, even though his ceiling will be higher if Chase isn't back on the field.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin (hip) practiced in full on Wednesday. Irwin is dealing with a hip issue but it hasn't impacted his status for Week 12 against the Steelers so far. Tee Higgins (hamstring) was a DNP on Wednesday so Irwin could theoretically slide in behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd as the Bengals' number three wideout on Sunday. Jake Browning is now starting under center for Cincinnati and it's doubtful that he can support three different pass catchers for fantasy purposes but Irwin seems to have some chemistry with him.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin was forced into a bigger role on offense with Tee Higgins (hamstring) sidelined in Week 11. Irwin scored a touchdown last week, but wasn't able to have the same amount of success this week. Although, it was a tough night for the Bengals offense who lost starting quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) in the second quarter. Irwin hauled in three of his five targets for 36 yards in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It's uncertain who is going to be under center in Week 12. Regardless, Irwin doesn't make for an appealing streaming option with every team playing in Week 12.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin had only two catches in the Week 10 loss to the Texans. However, he at least turned one of those grabs into a touchdown. Without question, the 27-year-old hasn't been a routine target for Joe Burrow all season. But with Tee Higgins (hamstring) sidelined again for Thursday's AFC North showdown with the Ravens, Irwin should get meaningful looks from the signal-caller, making him a risky, high-upside flex option.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin caught two of his four targets for 54 yards in Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans. With Tee Higgins (hamstring) out, the 27-year-old got more involved than usual. Although Tyler Boyd and Ja'Marr Chase combined for 13 receptions, Irwin was still productive, adding a touchdown off a 32-yard throw from Joe Burrow in the game's opening drive. Nonetheless, it will be tough for Higgins to return in Week 11 against the Ravens, considering both teams will meet on Thursday night. If that's the case, Irwin remains in the flex conversation, although his services are best for fantasy managers in deep, non-PPR setups.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin isn't someone fantasy managers routinely consider inserting into their starting lineups. However, with Tee Higgins (hamstring) out and Ja'Marr Chase (back) questionable for the Week 10 meeting with the Texans, the 27-year-old could see more attention from Joe Burrow. Of course, Tyler Boyd is still in the picture, and Joe Mixon could see more work as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. Still, Irwin has been known to have some solid performances over the years, so fantasy managers should consider him a risky, high-upside option on Sunday.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin looked good in the Week 5 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. With Tee Higgins (ribs) sidelined for that one, most had assumed Tyler Boyd would get Ja'Marr Chase's leftovers. But that's not what happened, as Irwin finished as the second-best wideout on the team by catching eight of his 10 targets for 60 yards. With Higgins questionable for Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks, Irwin has flex appeal in deep PPR formats. However, Irwin's fantasy stock will plummet if Higgins returns.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin had eight catches for 60 yards in Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals. Ja'Marr Chase accounted for 15 receptions for 192 yards and three touchdowns in Week 5. However, Irwin took advantage of Tee Higgins' (ribs) absence, although he couldn't bring in a pass from Joe Burrow that might have been a touchdown. Higgins will probably remain on the injury report ahead of the Week 6 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, so fantasy managers shouldn't drop Irwin just yet. If Higgins isn't available for a second straight game, Irwin deserves flex consideration for those in 12-team leagues and up.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Trent Taylor and Trenton Irwin have competition this summer in rookie Charlie Jones, who was taken in the fourth round of this year's draft. Jones is a younger, faster slot receiver with return abilities. The Athletic's Jay Morrison writes that it feels as though there will be only one spot for a guy with the skill set that Taylor and Jones share. Irwin is the current backup to Tyler Boyd in the slot, but he'll have to hold off Jones to keep that role. Irwin may have bought himself some time by stepping up in the middle of last year when Ja'Marr Chase missed four games with an injury. But as the team's WR4, there isn't much wiggle room for Irwin if Jones really impresses the coaching staff in training camp.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin finished the Week 16 win over the Pats by catching three passes for 45 yards. However, two of those catches resulted in a touchdown. The 27-year-old has now scored three times in the last three games. It's apparent Irwin isn't going away, so he should at least be in the flex conversation in Week 17 versus the Buffalo Bills, especially if Hayden Hurst (calf) remains out.
