Wayne Gallman, Godwin Igwebuike Elevated For Week 16
The Seattle Seahawks have elevated running backs Godwin Igwebuike and Wayne Gallman to their active roster ahead of a Week 16 bout with the Kansas City Chiefs. Igwebuike has been utilized on special teams as a kick returner over the past two weeks and will likely be used in the same role on Saturday. Gallman, on the other hand, could have an opportunity to see some offensive snaps with Kenneth Walker III (ankle, back) and DeeJay Dallas (ankle) both questionable to suit up. Although it has been reported that both backs are on track to play, this transaction makes the situation a bit more unclear. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for any updates regarding the availability of Walker and Dallas, but neither Igwebuike nor Gallman should impact any lineup decisions.
The Seattle Seahawks signed veteran running back Wayne Gallman to their practice squad on Tuesday with rookie Kenneth Walker III (ankle) dealing with an ankle injury, according to a source. Gallman hasn't seen action in an NFL game this year despite being on the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad earlier this season. Seattle also has Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas and Tony Jones Jr. on the RB depth chart, but Homer (didn't play in Week 13) and Dallas are also banged up with injuries, so the Seahawks needed more depth at the position heading into their Week 14 clash against the Carolina Panthers. The 28-year-old Gallman could be active for the first time this weekend, depending on the health of the other RBs, but he won't be a realistic fantasy option.
Free-agent running back Wayne Gallman had a workout with the Baltimore Ravens on Monday. The organization also had Corey Clement workout for the team. They eventually decided to sign Clement to a deal. He's expected to serve as depth in the crowded Ravens backfield. The fact that the Ravens signed Clement means that they will likely won't pursue Gallman. The 27-year-old had a limited role in the Atlanta Falcons backfield last season. Before that, Gallman saw success with the New York Giants during the 2020 campaign. Possibly, Gallman gets a chance with another organization before the season begins. Regardless, it's unlikely that Gallman or Clement will make an impact in fantasy football.
Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison has been placed on the COVID-19 list. That means, Kene Nwangwu is the only available back behind Dalvin Cook. That being said, the Vikings decided to claim Wayne Gallman off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons. This season, Gallman has 104 yards on 28 attempts, so there's not a ton of upside here. Fantasy managers should expect Cook to carry a bigger workload in Week 15. Gallman might see a few carries if active, but he's not worth rostering.
Atlanta Falcons running back Wayne Gallman is a healthy scratch in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gallman will be the odd-man out with Qadree Ollison coming up once again from the practice squad to join the active roster. He's been mostly the third running back in 2021 behind Cordarrelle Patterson and Mike Davis, carrying the ball only 28 times for 104 yards (3.7 yards per carry) while catching one pass for 21 yards in six games played. Ollison was featured as Atlanta's primary back two weeks ago in the blowout loss to the New England Patriots, but that occurred with Patterson sitting out due to an ankle injury. Ollison could see some work against the Buccaneers top-ranked rush defense, but it'll likely come at the expense of Davis.
Atlanta Falcons running back Wayne Gallman, who remains the team's No. 3 back behind Cordarrelle Patterson and Mike Davis, saw a season-high 15 carries in the Week 10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and had a team-high 55 yards. However, that was by design with a short week coming up. "We know we have to play Thursday, so that's why you saw a heavy dose of (backup quarterback Josh) Rosen and Gallman and the other guys," head coach Arthur Smith said. With that said, Gallman could see another big workload against the New England Patriots on Thursday night if Patterson (ankle) is unable to play. But even if Patterson is inactive, Gallman will likely play behind Davis and will be a low-upside RB4/flex in much deeper leagues.
Free-agent running back Wayne Gallman II signed with the Atlanta Falcons Thursday. The team also released former fifth-round pick Qadree Ollison, who was expected to fill the backup role behind Mike Davis. Entering his fifth season, Gallman enjoyed a career year last season after the Saquon Barkley injury, totaling 147 carries for 682 rushing yards and six touchdowns while adding 21 catches for 114 receiving yards. The Clemson product figures to operate in a running back committee with Davis and Cordarrelle Patterson, though Davis should still lead the backfield in touches. He remains in the RB2/flex conversation, but Gallman will get a chance to carve out a role.
The San Francisco 49ers released running back Wayne Gallman on Tuesday. He had his best season filling in for Saquon Barkley (knee) for the Giants in 2020, rushing for 682 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.6 YPC in 15 games. The 49ers will roll with Raheem Mostert, Trey Sermon, Jeff Wilson (knee), JaMycal Hasty, and Elijah Mitchell as the team's running backs. Gallman should draw interest on the open market and could latch onto another team soon. Depending on which team he signs with, the 26-year-old could be fantasy-relevant in 2021. Stay tuned.
Wayne Gallman II Rushes for 72 Yards In Week 2 Of Preseason
San Francisco 49ers running back Wayne Gallman II was the most impressive running back during the 15-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Despite being given four fewer carries than JaMycal Hasty (15), Gallman averaged 4.8 YPC, compared to the 3.0 YPC for Hasty. Gallman spent his first four years in the league with the Giants and had his best year in 2020, filling in for Saquon Barkley, rushing for 682 yards and six touchdowns in 10 starts. He's currently valued as the RB73 in half-PPR formats and could be a great stash if injuries arise in the 49ers backfield. Raheem Mostert and Trey Sermon have generated the most buzz this offseason. Still, Gallman signed a one-year prove-it deal with the 49ers during free agency, suggesting he could be used much more often than fantasy managers care to admit.
The San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent running back Wayne Gallman to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday. Gallman was originally drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 2017 draft. He has played in 53 career games (14 starts) and has 338 carries for 1,444 yards and nine touchdowns while also adding 80 catches for 498 yards and two touchdowns in his four-year career. Gallman appeared in 15 games (10 starts) for the Giants last year and led the team in rushing attempts (147), rushing yards (682) and rushing touchdowns (six), which were all single-season career-highs. The 26-year-old will join a crowded backfield in San Francisco that features Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert, so Gallman probably won't have much fantasy appeal unless an injury sidelines either Wilson or Mostert.
