Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent offensive guard Will Hernandez (knee) stated his intentions of wanting to re-sign with the team this offseason. "I'd love to stay, but at the end of the day, it's not up to me," Hernandez said. It remains to be seen if the Cardinals have mutual interest in bringing the 29-year-old offensive lineman back after playing in only five games in 2024 due to a knee injury that landed him on Injured Reserve. His market this offseason will depend on how he's recovering from knee surgery. Hernandez was originally a second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2018 NFL draft by the New York Giants out of Texas-El Paso. He spent the first four years of his NFL career in the Big Apple before playing each of the last three seasons with the Cardinals. In his three years in the desert, Hernandez has started all 35 games that he's appeared in.

The 2018 second-rounder will reunite with offensive line coach Sean Kugler, who was Hernandez's offensive line coach in college. Hernandez will likely start at right guard in the desert in 2022. The 26-year-old started 56 games over the last four seasons for the Giants, and his addition should mostly benefit Arizona's running attack. The Cardinals offensive line was around middle of the pack in the NFL last year, so Hernandez's signing will hopefully push them up towards the top of the league in 2022.

The New York Giants are placing left guard Will Hernandez on the COVID-19 list on Thursday, according to sources. Hernandez and all of his close contacts are being quarantined while the rest of the team is proceeding as normal for practice. They have quarantined all but four of their offensive lineman after one of them tested positive for COVID-19. New York is scheduled to play the Buccaneers on Monday night in Week 8. It is unknown if those being quarantined will be cleared in time to play this week, which would be bad news for the Giants offensive line and good news for a much improved Tampa defensive front.
