Yannick Ngakoue News
The Indianapolis Colts placed defensive end Yannick Ngakoue (throat) on Injured Reserve on Saturday, ending his 2022 season with just two games to go. Ngakoue suffered a throat injury in Week 16 and will require surgery. The 27-year-old has been Indy's best pass-rusher this year, so it will be a big loss for their final two games, starting this weekend against the New York Giants. Ngakoue will finish his first year with the Colts with 29 tackles (18 solo), eight tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, a team-high 9.5 sacks and a forced fumble in his 15 starts. The Colts will hope Kwity Paye and Dayo Odenyingbo can step up without Ngakoue in these final two games. Indy's defense/special teams should be ignored by fantasy managers in Week 17.
The Indianapolis Colts are acquiring defensive end Yannick Ngakoue in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. In exchange, the Raiders are receiving cornerback Rock Ya-Sin from Indy. The Raiders bolstered their pass rush on Wednesday by signing Chandler Jones. That acquisition clearly made Ngakoue less of a priority for the team. The 26-year-old Ngakoue spent just one season with the Raiders, but it was a good one as he compiled 10 sacks and forced two fumbles. He'll bolster a Colts defensive front that only managed 32 sacks last year, tied for the ninth fewest in the league.
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Yannick Ngakoue (hamstring) is active for the Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ngakoue was listed as questionable after getting in a week of limited practice. The 26-year-old pass-rusher suffered the injury in the Week 1 overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens, but he'll be ready to go on Sunday. While the Raiders defense looked better than in recent seasons in their season-opener, they are still far from fantasy relevance, even while facing a Steelers offense that fell apart in the second half last season and didn't look all that much better in their Week 1 win on the road over the Buffalo Bills.
