Giants Sign Younghoe Koo to Active Roster

The New York Giants have signed kicker Younghoe Koo to the active roster ahead of Week 11's matchup against the Green Bay Packers. With Graham Gano (neck) on the injured reserve, Koo will likely serve the kicking duties for the remainder of the season. Koo made both field goal and extra point attempts in Week 10, even in the cold and windy conditions in Chicago. The Giants face the Green Bay Packers in Week 11, who have been an elite defense in 2025. With Jaxson Dart (concussion) out, and Jameis Winston under center, field goal opportunities could be rare in this one.

Younghoe Koo Named Starting Kicker for Week 10

New York Giants kicker Younghoe Koo has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of the Week 10 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Koo will take over the kicking duties this weekend for Graham Gano (neck) who has been ruled out for this game. Koo hasn't kicked since being released by the Atlanta Falcons following their Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Koo missed a late-game field goal and was released afterwards. The 31-year-old has a 85.8 field goal percentage throughout his NFL career. He figures to be a viable option for the Giants while Gano is out.

Younghoe Koo Won't Kick for Giants in Week 4

New York Giants kicker Younghoe Koo is not expected to join the team's active roster after Jude McAtamney was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday. Koo and McAtamney were competing for a roster spot amidst an injury to Graham Gano (groin). Initially, reports indicated that Koo had won the job, but that's evidently not the case after McAtamney was signed to the 53-man roster and Koo was left on the practice squad. It goes without saying that fantasy managers should leave Koo on waivers in all fantasy leagues.

Graham Gano Ruled Out, Younghoe Koo to Kick in Week 4

New York Giants kicker Graham Gano (groin) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Younghoe Koo will kick in his absence. Gano initially suffered the injury during warmups before last week's game against the Chiefs. He did convert a field goal in that game, but was still used sparingly. Now, there's a chance that he could be placed on IR as he recovers. Meanwhile, Koo was cut loose by the Falcons after missing a potential game-winning field goal in Week 1. He's capable of kicking far with accuracy, but his volume remains uncertain as the Giants could face some growing pains in quarterback Jaxson Dart's first career start.

Giants Sign Younghoe Koo to Practice Squad

The New York Giants are signing former Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo to their practice squad on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Koo landed on the free-agent market early this year after the Falcons replaced him with Parker Romo. The 31-year-old will now get another chance in the NFC East with regular Giants kicker Graham Gano dealing with a groin injury that he suffered in pre-game warmups before the Sunday night loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Gano was considered questionable to play in Week 3 after his injury, but he eventually made a 25-yard field goal try in the fourth quarter. If Gano is unable to play in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Koo could be brought up to serve as the kicker on Sunday. Koo has an 85.8% success rate on FGs in his eight NFL seasons, but he went just 25-for-34 (73.5%) last year and missed one of his three attempts in Week 1 with Atlanta before being cut. For now, Koo should remain on the waiver wire in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons Sign Parker Romo, Release Younghoe Koo

Atlanta Falcons kicker Parker Romo signed a two-year deal with the organization on Friday. After a perfect debut last week, the Falcons have decided to go with Romo as their kicker moving forward. Romo knocked down all five of his field goal attempts during last week's win over the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, Younghoe Koo was released by the organization on Friday. Koo missed a game-tying field goal against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season opener. Apparently, that was enough for the Falcons to move on from him. Possibly, Koo gets another chance elsewhere, but he doesn't need to be rostered in fantasy formats right now. As for Romo, he's looking like a solid streaming option against the shaky Carolina Panthers defense in Week 3.

Younghoe Koo Will Not Play in Week 2

Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo (undisclosed) will not be active for his team's Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Falcons are elevating kicker Parker Romo from the practice squad to take Koo's place. The 31-year-old Koo missed a crucial field goal attempt in the closing seconds of Atlanta's Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, prompting the team to sign Romo. The Falcons have not parted ways with Koo yet, but the writing could be on the wall for the veteran kicker.

Younghoe Koo Not a Preferred Option at Kicker in Week 2

Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo was 2-for-2 on extra points in Week 1 and 2-for-3 on field goals, but the one field goal he missed was a 44-yarder that could have tied the game and sent it to overtime. We'll see if that shakes his confidence after making just 73.5 percent of his field goals in 2024, and also after Head Coach Raheem Morris said that the Falcons will begin working out new kickers after the miss. He'll get pristine kicking conditions inside a dome (again) at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota on Sunday night, but with other more consistent kicker options available, the 31-year-old kicker ranks outside of the top 12 options at the position this week.

Falcons Auditioning Kickers, Could Replace Younghoe Koo

The Atlanta Falcons will work out a variety of kickers and could look to replace Younghoe Koo, according to head coach Raheem Morris. While Morris confirmed that Koo is the Falcons' kicker "right now," he explained that they'll bring in young kickers and veteran kickers for an audition. Practice squad kicker Lenny Krieg, whom Morris described as a "developing prospect," will also have a chance to compete for the kicking job. At the peak of his career, Koo was one of the most dependable kickers in NFL history. However, his accuracy has started to decline. He missed nine field goals last season and went 2-for-3 in Sunday's season opener, missing a potential game-tying kick against the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Younghoe Koo Ranks Just Inside the Top 12 for Week 1

Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo had a rough 2024, converting just 73.5 percent of his field goal attempts last season before missing the final three games with a hip injury. However, the 31-year-old comes into 2025 healthy and made four of five field goals in the preseason, with his only miss coming from 51 yards out. With the Falcons having an implied total of 23 in their Week 1 contest against the Buccaneers, there is expected to be a decent amount of scoring. The fact that the game is a home matchup inside the dome in Atlanta means Koo will not have to deal with the elements, providing him with a pristine kicking environment. The eighth-year pro ranks as a low-end, top 12 option for Sunday's matchup, although his upside is limited given this will only be Michael Penix Jr.'s fourth start of his career, so drives may stall quickly.
