According to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, tight end Zach Gentry will remain with the Steelers. Gentry, a 2019 fifth-round pick, has appeared in 38 games for Pittsburgh in the last four seasons, compiling 39 catches for 303 yards. While the Steelers will get a familiar face back in the mix, his minimal statistical contributions over the years won't mean much from a fantasy standpoint. Gentry's return also won't negatively impact Pat Freiermuth, who should continue to operate as the undisputed No. 1 tight end on the depth chart.
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Zach Gentry caught his lone target for a four-yard gain in a 20-18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. Gentry was on the map as a tight-end streamer for Week 6 after Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was ruled out ahead of time, but he wound up disappointing with just the one catch. Freiermuth is likely to be back in time for a Week 7 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, which will relegate Gentry back to a reserve role.
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Zach Gentry will be pushed into a full-time role in Week 6 as starter Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was ruled out on Friday. Gentry had success in Week 5 after Freiermuth left with the injury, catching five passes for 43 yards. He sets up as an interesting fantasy option in a plus matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. Tampa Bay has struggled against opposing tight ends in 2022, allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the position. Gentry is worth using as a streamer in season-long leagues and as a cheap plug-in play in DFS contests.
Pittsburgh Steelers Zach Gentry will not return to Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after sustaining a knee injury. Gentry made his 2020 debut last week, playing 14 offensive snaps. His absence shouldn't change anything for the Steelers, as Eric Ebron remains the only fantasy relevant tight end on this roster.
