NHL DFS Picks: 4/29/22
This time of the season can be tough to predict outcomes with many teams already clinching playoffs and other teams being eliminated from playoff contention. We can use this to our advantage though. This can be a time where the 2nd and 3rd liners could see some more action than usual. The Coyotes, who have been eliminated from playoff contention for a while, have recently beaten the Stars, and the Wild, both playoff teams. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite Underdog Pick’em lines for today.

Kris Letang- Over 2.5 Shots
The Blue Jackets give up a lot of shots, second-most in the NHL, and Kris Letang is very involved going forward on offense. Letang has had three or more shots in each of his last three games. Pittsburgh has also lost their last two games so I am looking for them to bounce back offensively in a game they are heavily favored to win. Letang ranks 7th in the league for shots by a defenseman. Letang’s involvement in the offense mixed with his powerplay ice time makes me like the over 2.5 shots in this contest.
Jonathan Toews- Over 1.5 Shots
I believe Jonathan Toews wants to finish this season strong and hits the over on 1.5 shots. He has done it twice in his last five games but has at least one shot in each of his last five games. It should be a pretty competitive game against two teams with similar records and both teams rank top ten in shots against in the league. Toews is averaging 1.7 shots per game on the season and should see a few looks in this game.
Vladimir Tarasenko- Under 2.5 Shots
Tarasenko has only hit the over on 2.5 shots once in his last five games. I also believe that the Blues, who have already clinched a playoff spot will be smart with their star winger and have him play less than usual. The Blues have a tough series with the Minnesota Wild coming up and want their team to be nice and healthy for the matchup. With this contest not having any effect on the playoff matchup, why risk your best players?
J.T. Miller- Over 2.5 Shots
The Canucks just barely missed the playoffs while the Oilers have a matchup with the Kings coming up. I believe the Canucks try to finish the season strong and J.T Miller has a good offensive day. Miller has had over 2.5 shots in three of his last five games and is only two points away from 100 on the season, a mark I’m sure he is aware of and will push for. Miller is the first-line center and a focal point on the powerplay, I think he has a strong finish to the season.
Troy Terry- Over 2.5 Shots
Troy Terry has had a great season for the Ducks this year and will finish strong. Terry has recorded over 2.5 shots in four of his last five games. The Stars just recently clinched a playoff berth and could see a more relaxed game from them, not wanting to sustain any injuries. Terry has taken a huge step forward this season, scoring more than 30 goals, and could add on to that tally with this matchup with the Stars.
Tomas Hertl- Over.5 Points
Tomas Hertl is averaging .79 points per game on the season. The Seattle Kraken have been cold recently, losing four of their last five and giving up an average of 4.2 goals per game in that stretch. Hertl has had a good season and plays on the same line as Timo Meier, who has had a fantastic season. I believe the Sharks win this game and the first line has something to do with it. Hertl shoots the puck and is due for an assist, and this should lead to an opportunity to record a point.
Travis Konecny- Over 2.5 Shots
Konecny has been hot recently, recording seven points in his last seven games. In his last five, he has had over 2.5 shots in four of the games, and had 2 shots in the game he did not hit the over. He is very involved in the offense and is having a good end to the season. Ottawa ranks sixth in shots against in the league, so the Flyers and Konecny should have their opportunities.
Pierre-Luc Dubois- Under 2.5 Shots
The Calgary Flames give up the fourth least shots in the league. Not to mention that Dubois has not had more than 2.5 shots in any of his last five games. The Flames will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Minnesota in their last game. Dubois is involved heavily in the game but has cooled down when it comes to shots per game recently.
Bonus Rivals Pick
Jack Roslovic to record more points than his teammate Gustav Nyquist. Roslovic is having a very good end to the season with six points in his last five games. Nyquist in that same time frame has only three points.
