Brandon Saad Placed On Waivers

According to Frank Seravalli, the St. Louis Blues placed left wing Brandon Saad on waivers earlier on Tuesday. The veteran will move to the AHL if he goes unclaimed on waivers. Saad was on pace to have one of the worst seasons of his career. Across 43 contests, Saad has scored just seven goals with nine helpers. He held a -14 +/- rating while averaging just under two shots on goal per game. Before being placed on waivers, Saad was held off the scoresheet in his previous six contests. However, prior to this cold stretch, the veteran began to slowly turn the corner as he scored three goals and three helpers over his previous four contests. Fantasy managers should expect Jake Neighbours and Dylan Holloway to operate as the top left-wingers in the offense.

Brandon Saad Ends Goal Drought With A Hat Trick

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad had his best game of the season in Friday's matchup against Ottawa, scoring his third career hat trick in a 4-0 win. Saad tallied three consecutive goals after Brayden Schenn opened the scoring. He entered the game with a 19-game goal drought. It has been a strange campaign for Saad, as he has increased his goal tally with only multi-goal performances. The 32-year-old has not had much success on the offensive end, picking up seven goals and six assists in 34 appearances. A top-line role next to Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich puts Saad in a good position to get going offensively, but fantasy managers definitely shouldn't bet on it.

Brandon Saad Re-Enters Blues Lineup Sunday

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad will rejoin the lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Rangers. The veteran forward will be back in action after missing Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to Dallas as a healthy scratch. Saad has not played well for the Blues this season, and according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the team is looking to trade the winger, who has a $4.5 million cap hit on his contract, which expires with the 2025-26 campaign. Through 27 outings, Saad has mustered 10 points (four goals, six assists). Oskar Sundqvist makes way for him in the lineup on Sunday.

Brandon Saad Expected To Make Season Debut On Tuesday

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad (personal) has been activated from the non-roster list and is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday against Minnesota. Saad has missed the first three games of the year to welcome a third child to his family. The veteran winger practiced on the top line on Wednesday. He is also poised for second power-play duty. As a player who's on the cusp of earning his 500th career point, Saad could do plenty of damage in a first-line role, although his effectiveness has been lacking on the offensive front in recent years. To make room for Saad on the roster, the Blues placed Alexandre Texier (upper body) on Injured Reserve on Monday.

Brandon Saad Will Miss Season Opener

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad (personal) will not be in the lineup on Tuesday as the team begins its 2024-25 campaign with a road contest against the Seattle Kraken. Saad hasn't traveled to the game with the team, remaining in St. Louis for the expected arrival of his third child. The Blues also visit San Jose and Vegas in the opening week, and it remains to be seen if Saad will be ready to link up with the team at some point. The veteran is slated to fill a middle-six role for St. Louis this season. Saad notched 26 goals and 42 points in 82 games last term.

Brandon Saad Gets Another Goal In Monday's Loss

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad scored in a third consecutive game on Monday against the Vegas Golden Knights, knotting things up late in regulation before the team was defeated 2-1 in overtime. Saad is averaging the fewest points in six seasons and won't be happy with his form, but he has found his scoring stick lately. The veteran winger has tallied six goals in his past 10 appearances, adding three assists. Saad is looking to push past the 40-point mark this week, having tallied 23 goals and 14 assists across 72 appearances in 2023-24.

Brandon Saad Tallies Two Assists Friday

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad finished with two assists as the team dominated against Washington Friday with a 5-2 win. Both of the assists came on goals by Sammy Blais. Saad now has two multi-point performances in his past four appearances, but the 2022-23 campaign has been a disappointment for him overall, with the experienced winger putting up only 17 goals and 29 points in 57 games. He is set to finish with his worst scoring pace in five years.

Brandon Saad, Pavel Buchnevich Expected Back Thursday

St. Louis Blues wingers Brandon Saad (upper body) and Pavel Buchnevich (lower body) are expected to be back in the lineup Thursday versus Vancouver. The latter has been unavailable for the last two games, while Saad has sat out four games. The two will provide a big boost for the attack, but the duo's return is bad news for Josh Leivo and Sammy Blais, who will be relegated to the third line. Buchnevich, who has tallied 43 points in 42 games, skated with Brayden Schenn and Ivan Barbashev in Wednesday's practice, and Saad, whose work this season includes 15 goals and seven assists in 46 outings, joined Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas.

Brandon Saad Ruled Out For Thursday's Contest

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad (upper body) won't be able to play Thursday versus New Jersey. He got hurt in Tuesday's 6-2 victory over the Panthers and is considered day-to-day. Saad has registered 15 goals and 22 points in 46 games during a down year. He's been getting a lot of opportunities in the top six, but the scoring form and consistency simply haven't been there for Saad. Ivan Barbashev, who notched three points Tuesday, is a strong candidate to take over Saad's role on the first line.

Brandon Saad Forced To Exit Early

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad was injured in the second period Tuesday night against the Panthers. He logged only 9:32 of ice time and exited the game with an upper-body problem. The team is set to evaluate his status on Wednesday. St. Louis has only just gotten its top-six core back together but could now be without another piece. Saad is second in goals on the team with 15 marketers and has tallied 22 points in total across 46 outings.

Brandon Saad Scores Twice As St. Louis Shocks Toronto

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad potted two goals as the team beat Toronto 6-5 in a shootout Tuesday. He started the scoring in a short-handed situation and pushed the team's lead to 5-3 before the Maple Leafs struck back and found a way to extend the game. This was a huge effort from the Blues a day after Vladimir Tarasenko (hand) and Ryan O'Reilly (foot) were ruled out for multiple weeks. With two big parts of the offense missing, Saad will have a bigger role to play and Tuesday was a great start for him on the second line. He skated with Ivan Barbashev and Brayden Schenn, with the latter also finishing with two points. Saad has only 10 goals and 13 points in 31 games for the season, but his productivity should improve in the upcoming weeks.

Brandon Saad Dealing With An Illness

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad wasn't available for Wednesday's game versus Buffalo because of an illness. He was forced to sit out his seventh game of the season. It's been a rough campaign so far for Saad, as health problems have kept him on the sidelines multiple times and he has failed to perform whilst healthy. The 30-year-old had a three-game goal streak a couple of weeks back, but these are his only points in 12 outings. The Blues return to action Friday against Tampa Bay and Saad will hope to get healthy for a back-to-back set that ends Saturday versus the Panthers.

Brandon Saad Returning On First-Line Duty

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad (upper body) will end a six-game absence on Monday against the Bruins, joining Ryan O'Reilly and Ivan Barbashev on the first line. The Blues are looking to snap a six-game losing streak and start getting some goals again after settling for fewer than three goals five times during the current streak. Saad should be able to provide a spark to the team, although he didn't exactly set the world alight prior to his injury, going scoreless in three games. Fantasy managers should expect to see him with the second power-play unit as well.

Brandon Saad Gets A Full Practice Under His Belt

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad (upper body) was a full participant in Friday's practice, which is a great sign that he is getting ready to return to the lineup. He has been sidelined for six games after suffering an upper-body injury in only the third game of the season. Funnily enough, St. Louis won all three games with Saad in the lineup and has gone winless with him missing. Saad didn't have any personal success early on, though, finishing pointless in all three games he played. The Blues are off until Monday, so Saad will get plenty of more time to work himself back into game shape, and he should be ready to play when the team travels to Boston at the start of next week.

Brandon Saad Out Monday

St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad will be sitting out Monday's matchup against Winnipeg with an upper-body injury. He was hurt in Saturday's 2-0 win over Edmonton and missed Monday's morning skate. Saad has been riding on the top line with Ryan O'Reilly and Jordan Kyrou, but head coach Craig Berube has been forced to switch things around a bit now and we should see Brayden Schenn move to the first line for Monday's action. Ivan Barbashev will take over his spot on the second line.

Brandon Saad Joins Top Line For Elimination Game

St. Louis Blues winger Brandon Saad will start Wednesday's elimination game against the Avalanche on the top line. The Blues are 3-1 down in the series and changes are clearly needed to turn things around. Saad takes over from Pavel Buchnevich, who actually had a great run on the first line with five points in three games. The line includes the Blues' top goal-scorer David Perron and Ryan O'Reilly, who recently had a chance to celebrate his new playoff career high with a seven-game point streak. Saad has managed five points in 10 games in the playoffs and this is a great spot for him to boost his numbers.

Brandon Saad In Friday's Lineup Vs. Sabres

St. Louis Blues winger Brandon Saad (illness) is expected to be in the lineup Friday against the visiting Buffalo Sabres, Left Wing Lock confirmed. The 29-year-old veteran missed practice on Thursday due to a non-COVID-related illness but took line rushes Friday morning alongside Ryan O'Reilly and David Perron on St. Louis' top line. Saad has 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) and a plus-5 rating through 46 games this season, and is in a four-way tie for first place on the team with five power-play goals.

Brandon Saad Nets Goal In Losing Effort

St. Louis Blues winger Brandon Saad scored his seventh goal of the season during the club's 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. The veteran forward also had five shots on net. On the downside, Saad has provided just one assist through 13 games and has become a very one-dimensional player in recent years with just 22 assists over the past three seasons spanning more than 100 games. But with five 20+ goal seasons, he can be counted on for scoring goals and recording a healthy number of shots in fantasy hockey. Another veteran forward, David Perron, assisted on the goal. He now has nine assists and 15 points in 17 games but has been struggling lately after a hot start to the year. He hasn't scored a goal in 12 games.

Brandon Saad Has Two-Goal Game Against Sharks

St. Louis Blues winger Brandon Saad ended a five-game dry spell with two goals in Thursday's 4-1 victory over San Jose, recording six shots in total with a plus-one rating in 16:09 of ice time. He opened the scoring with a power-play marker in the first period and scored an even-strength goal in the second frame. Saad has now scored six goals in 12 appearances this season with 34 shots and boasts seven points for the year. Interestingly, four of Saad's goals have come against the Sharks. The Blues have struggled lately, but this one should help them get back on track and Saad will be able to boost his numbers during a busy stretch, which starts on Saturday against Dallas. St. Louis will have five games in eight nights.

Klim Kostin Gets Promoted To First Line With Brandon Saad Out

St. Louis Blues forward Klim Kostin will join the first line for Saturday's home game against the Kings, with Brandon Saad (COVID protocols) ruled out for the contest. The 22-year-old will get his third appearance of the season. Kostin has been a busy boy so far with two goals, six shots and eight hits. The Kings will be without Drew Doughty (lower body), which will significantly weaken their defense, giving Kostin a good opportunity to impress even further. He started the year with a bang by scoring twice in his season debut.
