Victor Olofsson Projected To Start Life In Vegas On First Line

Vegas Golden Knights winger Victor Olofsson could be in line for a big bounce-back year in 2024-25, as he is expected to skate on the first line. Paul Delos Santos of NHL.com sees Olofsson as the likeliest candidate to replace the departed Jonathan Marchessault on the line. Olofsson signed a one-year, $1.075 million contract with the Golden Knights as a free agent following a disappointing campaign in Buffalo. The Swedish forward scored only 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 51 games last season. However, he should see plenty of success skating with Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev in Vegas.

Jonathan Marchessault Set For Contract Talks With Golden Knights

Vegas Golden Knights winger Jonathan Marchessault is set to begin contract discussions with the team. According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, the Golden Knights have made extending Marchessault a "priority" this offseason. The news comes just a few days after Marchessault noted that he's yet to receive a call from the club regarding a potential extension. Marchessault is coming off a six-year, $30 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1 if a new deal isn't reached. The 33-year-old has been a huge hit in Vegas ever since joining the Golden Knights for their inaugural season in 2017-18. He scored a career-high 42 goals this season, adding 27 assists in 82 games.

Adin Hill Back In Goal Friday

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill will be between the pipes for Friday's must-win Game 6 against the Dallas Stars. Logan Thompson started the first four games of the series but Hill was in net for Wednesday's 3-2 loss in Game 5. Vegas won the first two games of the series in Dallas but have since dropped three straight and are on the ropes Friday night on home ice. Hill posted a 2.71 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage across 35 regular-season games and turned aside 22 of the 25 shots he faced (.880 Sv%) in Dallas in Game 5. The 27-year-old posted a stellar 2.17 GAA and .932 Sv% in 16 games (14 starts) en route to a Stanley Cup championship last season.

William Karlsson Doesn't Skate, Expected To Play Game 3

Vegas Golden Knights center William Karlsson didn't participate in Saturday's morning skate but head coach Bruce Cassidy is anticipating that the Swede will still suit up for Game 3 against the Dallas Stars Saturday night. The nature of any ailment is unknown but Karlsson skated just 13:31 in the team's 3-1 Game 2 win on Wednesday. The 31-year-old enjoyed a productive regular season, notching 30 goals and 60 points on 175 shots across 70 games, going plus-15 in the process. It was his second-highest goal and point total of his career behind his 43-goal, 78-point campaign in the 2017-18 campaign, the first season of Vegas' existence.

Nicolas Hague Not Ready To Return On Saturday

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Nicolas Hague (lower body) will miss Saturday's Game 3 against the Stars. He suffered a lower-body injury in the series opener on Monday. Hague had 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 73 games during the regular season, with 111 blocks and 153 hits. He led the Vegas blue line with four hits in Game 1. Alec Martinez replaced him in the lineup for Game 2 and figures to remain on the third defensive pairing on Saturday after the Golden Knights produced an outstanding defensive performance in a 3-1 win on Wednesday.

Jack Eichel Makes NHL History In Game 2 Win

Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel picked up two points in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Dallas, becoming the fastest U.S.-born player in NHL history to reach 30 career postseason points. Eichel skated in his 23rd Stanley Cup Playoffs game and helped out offensively with an assist and an empty-net goal. He was also tied for most shots on goal in the contest with five. Dating back to last season, Eichel has now gone for multiple points in four of his last six playoff appearances.

Logan Thompson Heads Out For Another Win Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson will look to post a fourth consecutive win in Wednesday's Game 2 against the Dallas Stars. After closing out the regular season with back-to-back victories, Thompson saved 26 of 29 shots in Game 1 against the Stars, helping Vegas to a sweet 4-3 road win. This was Thompson's first career postseason appearance in the NHL after he missed the Golden Knights' cup run in 2022-23 with a lower-body injury. Dallas lost back-to-back home games only three times during the regular season, meaning another winning effort on Wednesday would be a remarkable feat by Thompson.

Nicolas Hague Out For Vegas On Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Nicholas Hague is out for Wednesday's Game 2 of the team's first-round series against the Dallas Stars, according to head coach Bruce Cassidy. No specific reason was given and Hague is listed as day-to-day. The hulking 6-foot-6 defender doesn't contribute much on offense with two goals and 12 points across 73 games this season but is physical with 153 hits and 43 penalty minutes while he also blocked 111 shots on the campaign. It appears Alec Martinez will jump in and make his series debut on Wednesday. He notched four goals and 17 points with 165 blocked shots across 55 games this season.

Mark Stone Starts Scoring In Game 1 Win

Vegas Golden Knights winger Mark Stone got his team off to a good start in their Game 1 win over the Dallas Stars, scoring the first goal of the game in a 4-3 win. In Stone's first game back from a lacerated spleen, he found the back of the net just 1:23 into the contest. The powerplay goal sent social media into a frenzy, as Stone has now come back from injury just in time for the playoffs to begin three times during his Golden Knights tenure, allowing the team to load up at the trade deadline while his salary cap hit sits on injured reserve. Whether this is fair play or some underhanded tactics by Vegas is up for debate, but Stone being a huge addition to their team is certainly not.

Alex Pietrangelo A Full Practice Participant

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo was a full practice participant on Saturday after undergoing an appendectomy. He is expected to dress for Game 1 of the team's first-round series against the Dallas Stars on Sunday. The veteran notched four goals and 33 points on 141 shots on goal while he also blocked a hefty 160 shots across 64 games on the season. Vegas finished in the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, setting up a road matchup with the top-seeded Stars in the first round.

Mark Stone A Possibility For Game 1

Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone (upper body) is a possibility to return for Game 1 of the postseason against the hosting Dallas Stars. The veteran's potential return is once again a curious situation, as Stone missed the remainder of the regular season due to an upper-body injury suffered in a 5-3 loss to the Predators on Feb. 20 but has been physically cleared for contact just in time for Game 1 of the playoffs, just as he was last season after missing the remainder of the regular season with a back injury. The team had him on long-term injured reserve and would not have been able to afford his salary cap hit in the regular season, but there is no salary cap in the postseason. Stone tallied 16 goals and 53 points in 56 games this season.

Adin Hill To Return Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill (lower body) will return to the crease on Wednesday to take on the hosting Edmonton Oilers. The 27-year-old has missed the past seven contests after suffering a lower-body injury in the third period of a 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 23. "Yeah, he's going to go," Vegas bench boss Bruce Cassidy said following Wednesday's morning skate in Edmonton. "We weren't sure coming into the trip. He had just joined the team on the weekend before we left, so we knew we had to get him in. So tonight's going to be the night." Hill worked to a quality 2.62 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage in his 32 outings prior to his injury. Vegas sits one point back of the L.A. Kings for third in the Pacific Division.

Jack Eichel Totals Three Points Versus Canucks

Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel continued his good start to the month with a three-point effort in Monday's 4-3 loss to Vancouver. He scored a couple of early goals and collected an assist, with two points coming on the power play. Eichel has scored in all three April outings, averaging two points per game for the month. The late-scoring spurt has pushed the American star to 63 points (29 goals, 34 assists) with 58 games played. Nineteen points (10 goals, nine assists) have come in Eichel's last 14 appearances.

Tomas Hertl Expected To Make Golden Knights Debut Monday

Vegas Golden Knights center Tomas Hertl (knee) will make his team debut when the Golden Knights take on the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night on the road. The veteran underwent surgery on his left knee to clean up loose cartilage and was acquired in a blockbuster trade from the San Jose Sharks just minutes prior to the March 8 NHL trade deadline. The 30-year-old has registered 15 goals and 34 points across 48 games this season, all with the Sharks. He is likely to skate on the left wing of Chandler Stephenson on the team's second line on Monday. The Golden Knights sit in the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference but are also just one point back of the Los Angeles Kings for third in the Pacific Division with one game in hand.

Tomas Hertl Won't Play Friday

Vegas Golden Knights center Tomas Hertl (knee) is nearing a return to action but will not be in the lineup for Friday's road game against the Arizona Coyotes. The veteran is back to practicing with the team in a regular jersey after initially skating on his own after he underwent knee surgery to replace loose cartilage on Feb. 12 while still a member of the San Jose Sharks. Hertl was acquired in a March 8 blockbuster trade from the Sharks. The 30-year-old has recorded 15 goals and 34 points on 113 shots on goal across 48 games this season, all with the Sharks. The Golden Knights enter Friday's action sitting third in the Pacific Division with a 42-25-8 record, three points back of the second-place Oilers, but also just a single point ahead of the fourth-place Kings while holding a game in hand.

Nicolas Roy  • C  •  Golden Knights

Nicolas Roy Won't Play On Friday

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy is battling an undisclosed ailment and won't feature against the Coyotes on Friday. He was injured in Tuesday's contest against Vancouver. Roy has played a big part in the Golden Knights' success in 2023-24, posting 38 points (11 goals, 27 assists) in 66 outings. He will be desperate to make a quick recovery and rejoin the lineup, as Roy is just two points short of setting his new scoring record for a single season. The 27-year-old will have his first opportunity to return on Monday in a rematch with the Canucks. Brendan Brisson is projected to fill Roy's spot in the lineup on Friday.

Tomas Hertl Not Making Expected Debut Friday

Vegas forward Tomas Hertl (knee) will not make his debut with the team on Friday. It appeared as though Hertl was on track for a Friday return from his knee issue after taking part in morning skates, but head coach Bruce Cassidy said he is not quite ready. An update on his status should come out soon and he is likely to be slotted into the lineup at some point soon if everything is progressing well. Hertl had 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 48 games with the San Jose Sharks this year prior to the trade, and will become a top-six option for the Golden Knights in the playoffs.

Jonathan Marchessault Sets New Franchise Record In Tuesday's Win

Vegas Golden Knights winger Jonathan Marchessault established a new franchise record in Tuesday's 6-3 victory over Vancouver by posting his eighth three-point outing of the season. He scored the team's second goal and handed out a pair of assists, including one on the power play. Marchessault did all the work during the team's four-goal opening period. With 41 goals in the bag, the 33-year-old needs only three more markers to also set a new Vegas record for most goals scored in a season. Marchessault has added 25 assists to his account in 75 games as the highest-scoring Golden Knight in 2023-24.

Tomas Hertl Nearing Return

Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl (knee) was skating in a regular jersey during practice on Tuesday and could return Friday. Head coach Bruce Cassidy ruled Hertl out for Tuesday's game, but his regular jersey debut points to a return soon. Vegas will want to get the trade deadline acquisition into the lineup for the last part of the regular season to smooth out the transition process. He should be a member of the top six and get good powerplay time, making him a good add for the final few weeks if your league runs through the whole regular season.

Tomas Hertl Practices With Vegas For First Time Monday

Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl practiced for the first time with the team since being acquired from the San Jose Sharks at the trade deadline. The veteran skated in a non-contact jersey. Hertl has been skating on his own after he decided to clean out loose cartilage in his left knee, a procedure that took place on Feb. 12. "It's important for him to get around his teammates and that type of environment," Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said after practice Monday. "He's been skating on his own here a little bit while we were away. I think it's great for him to start interacting, see what it looks like, how we practice." Hertl tallied 15 goals and 34 points across 48 games with the Sharks this season.
