Carter Hart in Vegas Crease for Playoff Opener

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart will be between the pipes in Sunday's Game 1 against the Utah Mammoth, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Hart had a very strong finish to the regular season and is also getting the trust for the playoff opener. In April, Hart has won all six starts, registering a 1.66 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. Overall, the 27-year-old finished with an 11-3-3 regular-season record. He didn't pick up any shutouts but produced a solid 2.71 goals-against average with a .891 save percentage. Hart and the Golden Knights are heavy favorites in the opening round, but there may be some hiccups against a Utah team that is tied for the third-best offensive record this month, averaging 4.13 goals per game.

William Karlsson Unavailable for Start of First-Round Series

Vegas Golden Knights center William Karlsson (lower body) won't be available for the start of the team's first-round playoff series against the Utah Mammoth, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. It's also unclear whether Karlsson will play at all against Utah after Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said the team must have "some success in the playoffs for him to play again." The Swedish veteran has been out of action since early November due to a lower-body injury. He appeared in only 14 regular-season games, recording four goals and three assists.

Reilly Smith Produces Three-Point Performance Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights right wing Reilly Smith factored in three goals during Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken, lighting the lamp twice and delivering one assist. He helped out Shea Theodore on the game-tying marker and notched a pair of goals himself late in the game. Smith recently had a three-game stint as a healthy scratch, and it appears to have helped him regain form ahead of the postseason. Over the last two games, Smith has recorded three goals and one assist. He finished the regular season with 26 points (16 goals, 10 assists) in 69 games, his lowest scoring total in five years. It's been a disappointing year for Smith, but he will have a chance to post his first three-game goal streak since December 2022 in Vegas' playoff opener.

Jack Eichel Collects Four Points Against Jets

Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel was an unstoppable force against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night, logging four points in a 6-2 victory. He scored a power-play goal and dished out three assists, including one in a short-handed situation. This was Eichel's seventh four-point game with the Golden Knights, tying him with Mark Stone for the most in franchise history. After going scoreless in John Tortorella's first game on the Vegas bench, Eichel has led the Golden Knights' turnaround with two goals and eight assists in six contests. He is very close to his second consecutive 90-point campaign, needing to produce at least two points in Wednesday's regular-season finale against Seattle. In 73 appearances, Eichel has bagged 27 goals and 61 assists.

Jack Eichel Records Three Assists in Saturday's Win

Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel had three assists in Saturday's 5-1 road win over the Edmonton Oilers. He set up Brett Howden and Jeremy Lauzon in the second period and Mark Stone in the third. This big performance secured Eichel his second consecutive 80-point season. He has tallied 25 goals and 57 assists in 69 games. After a dire six-game point drought last month, the four-time All-Star has recorded one goal and seven assists over a five-game stretch. With Vegas still chasing a playoff berth, Eichel has every reason to keep his foot on the gas, which is great news for fantasy managers.

Carter Hart Returns to Action Thursday

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart (lower body) has been activated from long-term Injured Reserve and will start on Thursday night against the Calgary Flames, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. He has been unavailable for nearly three months, missing 33 games due to a lower-body injury. Hart has started 12 times for the Golden Knights this season, posting a 5-3-3 record, a 3.28 goals-against average, and a .871 save percentage. While Hart's numbers aren't strong, he is a solid fantasy option on Thursday night, as he takes on the lowest-scoring team in the league. The Flames are averaging 2.53 goals per game and have finished with two or fewer goals 10 times in 18 games since the Olympic break.

Mark Stone a Game-Time Call Thursday

Vegas Golden Knights right wing Mark Stone (upper body) is a game-time decision for Thursday's clash against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Golden Knights captain has missed five games with an upper-body injury, but he has a chance to return on Thursday night. If he is cleared for action, Stone will immediately reclaim his spot on the first line and join the top power-play unit. Stone is third on the Vegas team with 60 points (21 goals, 39 assists) in 43 games and ranks sixth in the league with an average of 1.40 points per game.

He led all forwards on the team with an average of 2:40 short-handed ice time. Golden Knights Pick Up Cole Smith From Nashville

Nashville Predators left wing Cole Smith was traded to the Golden Knights from the Predators in exchange for defenseman prospect Christoffer Sedoff and a 2028 third-round pick. The deal happened during Nashville's matchup with Columbus on Tuesday night, and Smith was pulled from the game after logging only three seconds of ice time. Smith ranked second on the Predators with 119 hits in 42 games. Offensively, he contributed six goals and four assists with 51 shots on goal. Smith will be an asset for the Golden Knights' bottom six and penalty kill, but won't offer much to fantasy teams.

Mark Stone Ruled Out Tuesday

Vegas Golden Knights right wing Mark Stone (upper body) won't play on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres. He remains day-to-day after sustaining an upper-body injury in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh. Alexander Holtz is projected to fill the void in the lineup, while Braeden Bowman will join Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev on the first line. Since the Olympic break ended, Bowman has averaged a point per game in three contests, but he faces a difficult matchup on Tuesday. Buffalo has been the best team in the NHL since December, allowing two or fewer goals in three consecutive games.

Shea Theodore  • D  •  Golden Knights

Shea Theodore Iffy for Tuesday Due to Illness

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore is dealing with an illness, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. The 2026 Olympian is the victim of an illness that has been spreading in the team's locker room, leaving Theodore's status uncertain for Tuesday's contest against the Buffalo Sabres. Without Theodore, Vegas would have a big hole in the lineup, as he has recorded 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists), 95 shots, 68 blocks, and a plus-13 rating across 48 appearances this season. Ben Hutton is expected to fill in for Theodore if he isn't feeling well enough to play.

Mitchell Marner Dealing With Illness

Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitchell Marner is battling an illness, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy revealed that an illness was going around the locker room, affecting Marner, Shea Theodore, and a third, unnamed player. Marner has been a good fit in Vegas this season, posting 59 points (16 goals, 43 assists) in as many games. He has been used throughout the lineup, most recently as the second-line center. If Marner can't play in Tuesday's matchup with the Buffalo Sabres, Tomas Hertl will likely get a chance to join the top six.

Mark Stone Considered Day-to-Day

Vegas Golden Knights right wing Mark Stone (upper body) is day-to-day, according to head coach Bruce Cassidy. The oft-injured star suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, it appears Stone avoided a major injury and could be in contention to return to the lineup on Tuesday night against the Buffalo Sabres. Stone has racked up 60 points (21 goals, 39 assists) in 43 games this season, averaging the sixth-most points in the league (1.40 per game). Alexander Holtz is poised to replace Stone in the lineup if he's forced to miss additional time.

Shea Theodore  • D  •  Golden Knights

Shea Theodore Unavailable Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore won't play against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night. According to Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy, all players are likely to return to the lineup for Friday's tilt against the Washington Capitals. With Theodore and Noah Hanifin missing from the defense, Dylan Coghlan and Brayden McNabb (upper body) will be inserted into the lineup. McNabb will return to action after missing 19 games with an upper-body injury.

Mark Stone, Mitch Marner Won't Play Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights forwards Mark Stone and Mitch Marner won't be in the lineup on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Jack Eichel wouldn't participate in the contest, and now it's clear that Vegas' frontline will be without a couple more Olympic finalists. As such, Tomas Hertl is set to serve as the top-line center on Wednesday, while the likes of Tanner Laczynski and Keegan Kolesar will also be part of the top-six group. The Golden Knights should be back to full strength on Friday against the Washington Capitals.

Noah Hanifin  • D  •  Golden Knights

Noah Hanifin Unavailable Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Noah Hanifin will miss Wednesday's matchup with the Los Angeles Kings. Only a couple of days ago, Hanifin was part of Team USA's Olympic triumph in Milan and will get some time off before returning to NHL action. Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters on Tuesday that he anticipates Hanifin and Jack Eichel will return to the lineup on Friday against the Washington Capitals. Hanifin has totaled 20 points (two goals, 18 assists), 96 shots, and 77 blocks in 47 outings in 2025-26. Vegas has recalled Dylan Coghlan from the minors to fill in for Hanifin on Wednesday night.

Jack Eichel to Miss Wednesday's Action

Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel won't be in the lineup on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings. Eichel just won gold with Team USA at the Olympics, and the Golden Knights will give him some time off after the successful tournament. The star forward is expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday versus the Washington Capitals. Eichel is having a big year in Vegas, ranking ninth in the NHL with 69 points (21 goals, 47 assists) in 50 games. Tomas Hertl and Mitch Marner could have larger roles on Wednesday, though the latter is questionable to play after also featuring in Sunday's Olympic final.
