Carter Hart Takes Leave Of Absence

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart is taking an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons. Flyers general manager Daniel Briere announced the news on Tuesday following one of Hart's poorest performances of the season. The 25-year-old allowed five goals on 15 shots in Saturday's 7-4 loss to Colorado. It's been an up-and-down campaign for Hart, who's sporting a 12-9-3 record. He has allowed 2.80 goals while registering a .906 save percentage and one shutout. Samuel Ersson will now be the main man between the pipes for Philly moving forward, with Cal Petersen getting a call-up from the minors to work as Ersson's backup.

Carter Hart Returns To Philadelphia's Crease On Friday

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart (illness) will get back to work against the Red Wings on Friday. The 25-year-old has been battling an illness lately and hasn't seen any game action since Dec. 9. Hart beat Colorado in his last outing to pick up a third consecutive win. He's had a solid year with a 9-6-1 record while allowing 2.42 goals with a .919 save percentage. Meeting Detroit has always suited Hart, as he has gone 7-3-0 in the matchup in his career. Hart should have a good chance of improving the record on Friday, as the Red Wings have been slumping lately, winning just once in their past eight outings.

Carter Hart Has Terrific Performance In Return

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart (back) made his return to the crease and stopped 31-of-32 shots on goal in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against the Hurricanes. Hart was initially sidelined with a back injury and later dealt with an illness, forcing the 25-year-old to miss a five game stretch in the first half of November. Hurricanes forward Stefan Noesen scored at even-strength at the midway point of the second period, resulting in the only goal surrendered by the Flyers netminder. Hart has posted a record of 5-3-0 to go along with an excellent 2.34 goals against average and .921 save percentage through nine appearances.

Carter Hart Expected To Return Wednesday

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart (back) is expected to return to the crease for Wednesday night's contest against the Carolina Hurricanes. The 25-year-old was expected to return from a back injury on Thursday but remained sidelined, while he last appeared on Nov. 1 when he surrendered two goals on five shots in 10 minutes of work in an eventual 5-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. Otherwise, it's been a solid start to the season for the former first-round pick, who has posted a 2.52 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage across eight games, going 4-3-0 in that time. Samuel Ersson has seen the bulk of playing time in Hart's absence but has struggled to a 3.43 GAA and .855 save percentage across six contests.

Carter Hart To Return To The Crease Friday

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart will be back in goal for Friday's contest against the Anaheim Ducks, as per head coach John Tortorella. The 25-year-old has been dealing with a back issue and has not appeared since allowing two goals on five shots in just 10 minutes of work in a Nov. 1 contest against the Buffalo Sabres, an eventual 5-2 defeat. Hart has otherwise enjoyed a solid season, working to a 2.52 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage across eight starts, going 4-3-0 in the process. Samuel Ersson has seen the bulk of playing time in Hart's absence while the club promoted Cal Petersen from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Carter Hart Won't Play Friday

Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart will miss Friday's game against the Buffalo Sabres with a middle-body injury suffered Wednesday. He has been deemed day-to-day for now, but the severity of his injury hasn't been confirmed. If he is to miss some time, it would be a huge blow for the Flyers and Hart's fantasy owners, as he has been excellent this season. The 25-year-old is 4-3-0 with a 2.52 GAA (1.5 GSAA) and .913 SV%. Samuel Ersson will get the start Friday and will likely split time with Cal Petersen if Hart's injury is serious.

Carter Hart Injured In Wednesday's Loss

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart had to settle for only 10 minutes of action in Wednesday's matchup against the Sabres, exiting the game with a mid-body injury. He had a rough start to the game by giving up two goals on five shots, and the injury added to his misery. Sam Ersson didn't have much joy either as Hart's replacement, and Philadelphia ended up as a 5-2 loser of the contest. Hart has impressed early in the season and carried a 4-3-0 record with a 2.30 goals-against average ahead of Wednesday's action. It's been the opposite with Ersson, who has given up nearly five goals (4.91) and sits on a horrible .763 save percentage. The Flyers look to be in massive trouble if Hart is out long-term. Felix Sandstrom is the other alternative between the pipes for Philadelphia.

Carter Hart Getting A Breather Saturday

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart will not be between the pipes for Saturday's road contest versus the Dallas Stars. The netminder is healthy, as per head coach Jon Tortorella, as Saturday's night off is simply to give his netminder a rest after he has started each of the Flyers' first four games this season. Still just 25 years old, Hart has worked to an impressive 2.01 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage across those four starts on the heels of a 2.94 GAA and .907 Sv% on a very poor Flyers team last season. Samuel Ersson will make his season debut Saturday after posting a 3.07 GAA and .899 Sv% across 12 games in his NHL debut a season ago.

Carter Hart Nullifies Canucks With 25 Saves

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart stopped all 25 shots he faced against the Canucks on Tuesday, backstopping the team to a 2-0 win. He became the fifth netminder in franchise history to register a shutout in a home opener. After starting last season with five consecutive wins, Hart is off to another strong start, having gone 2-1-0 through his first three outings. He has allowed 2.33 goals per game with a .921 save percentage. Hart's form will be tested next by the Oilers, who have just put six pucks past Nashville.

Carter Hart Between The Pipes Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart will tend twine Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Hart allowed three goals on 18 shots for his second-straight loss as the New York Islanders picked up the win his last outing. The 24-year-old has had a tough season again in Philadelphia, with his 21-23-10 record, 2.94 goals-against-average, and .907 save percentage. Hart will go against the Blue Jackets Michael Hutchinson, who sports a record of 1-6-2 for a bad Columbus team.

Carter Hart Won't Play Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart is dealing with a lower-body injury and will miss his scheduled start Tuesday against Montreal. The 24-year-old has just registered his second shutout of the season and was set to head out for a fifth consecutive win, but the team has announced that Hart is day-to-day with a lower-body issue. Felix Sandstrom will start instead, and Sam Ersson has been summoned from the minors on an emergency basis to work as the backup. Hart's injury is a massive blow for the Flyers, as Sandstrom has had a torrid time throughout the campaign, going 1-10-2 with a 3.49 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage.

Carter Hart Starting Tuesday Against Montreal

Despite the lack of support from his teammates, the 24-year-old has been consistent throughout the campaign, boasting a 21-21-10 record, a 2.90 goals-against-average, and a .909 save percentage. Next up, Hart is set to face Montreal, a team that has won three of their last four games.

Carter Hart Extends Winning Streak With A Shutout

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart recorded a shutout and a fourth consecutive victory Saturday against Detroit, finishing a 3-0 win with 29 saves. The 24-year-old has struggled for most of the campaign, but he has turned around his form to finish the season on a high. Hart can match his season-best winning run if he also comes out victorious in his next start. He improved to 21-21-10 on Saturday and now has two shutouts for the season with a 2.90 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.

Carter Hart Starting Tuesday Against Tampa Bay

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart will be between the pipes Tuesday against Tampa Bay. The 24-year-old has had a rough stretch posting a 1-4-2 record in his last six starts. He's 1-1-0 this season against the Lightning. Harts played in many contests seeing action in 46 games this year for the Flyers. He has a 17-19-10 record, a 2.89 goals-against-average, and a .908 save percentage. His opponent Tampa Bay has lost five games in a row.

Carter Hart Tries To End His Losing Run Against Detroit

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart will make his 45th start of the season Sunday, hoping to end a six-game losing streak against Detroit. Hart had a pretty decent start to the campaign, but he has tasted victory only six times since the turn of the year. One of the wins came against the Red Wings on Jan. 21. The 24-year-old boasts a 16-19-10 record overall for the season, having allowed 2.94 goals per game with a .907 save percentage and one shutout. The Red Wings are also slumping with five consecutive defeats and have lost 14 of their last 16 trips to Philadelphia, so Hart looks to be in a good spot to end his skid.

Carter Hart Earns His First Shutout

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart recorded his first shutout of the season with 40 saves when the team defeated Winnipeg 4-0 on Saturday. This was a very impressive effort from the young goalie against a team that averages 3.18 goals per game. Hart became the seventh netminder in franchise history to post a 40-save shutout in a regular-season contest. There have been some very tough times for Hart during the season, but his numbers are looking solid overall, with the 24-year-old having a 15-14-8 record with a 2.88 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. He heads into the All-Star break with a 5-3-2 run.

Carter Hart In Flyers Net On Wednesday

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart will be between the pipes Wednesday against Washington. Hart had an impressive start to the season with five consecutive wins, but it's been a bumpy ride for him since then as he has gone 11-12-6 for the campaign. Teams have been getting 2.97 goals per game against Hart, and his save percentage stands at .908. This is going to be an extremely tough matchup for Hart, with Washington streaking and on a 13-2-2 run since Dec. 5. The Capitals have also won four of the last five head-to-head meetings.

Carter Hart Activated From Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart (concussion) is available to play again after the team activated him from Injured Reserve Wednesday. It appears that he is on track to guard the crease Thursday against Arizona. Hart has been unavailable for the past three games after he landed in the concussion protocol. Samuel Ersson produced an impressive three-game winning streak in his absence, but it looks like the Swedish netminder has to make way for Hart Thursday. The Flyers No. 1 has an ugly 10-11-6 record for the campaign, but he's produced a solid .911 save percentage and his 2.89 goals-against average isn't too bad either.

Carter Hart Expected To Be Available Saturday

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart (concussion) was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday, but he is expected to play later in the week. The Flyers No. 1 is in concussion protocol after leaving Friday's loss to Carolina following a collision with Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis. However, Hart was present in Wednesday's practice and it appears that he is on track to clear the protocol by the time Saturday's matchup against L.A. comes around. Head coach John Tortorella has said that he expects Hart to play the final two games of the team's upcoming three-game trip on the West Coast. Samuel Ersson will fill in for Hart on Thursday against San Jose.
