Rasmus Andersson Notches Three Points In Sunday's Win

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson was the driving force behind Sunday's 4-1 victory over Edmonton, scoring the team's first goal and dishing out two assists. He led the team in ice time with 24:58 and finished with an outstanding plus-four rating while logging two shots, three blocks, and one hit. Calgary has been an early-season surprise package, winning all three games so far and scoring goals for fun. It's helped Andersson to have a superb start to the campaign. He is tied for the scoring lead among defensemen with five points (two goals, three assists) and also tops the league with a plus-six rating, along with Vegas' Brayden McNabb.

Rasmus Andersson Produces Three Points In Monday's Win

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson was the main man in Monday's 4-3 overtime triumph at Seattle, posting two assists and firing in the game-winning goal with 3:28 played in the extra frame. The 27-year-old made a mark all over the ice, generating a game-high six shots while blocking two efforts from the opposition and delivering one hit. Andersson reached the 10-point mark with his Monday's efforts. He has posted three goals and seven assists in 14 games, with 37 shots on goal and 34 blocks. The Flames are playing much better lately and Andersson is benefiting from the improved form, grabbing half of his 10 points in the past four games.

Rasmus Andersson's Suspension Upheld

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson will remain sidelined this week after NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman upheld his four-game suspension. Andersson received the suspension for a high hit on Columbus forward Patrik Laine last week. The NHLPA appealed the suspension on Andersson's behalf at the weekend but to no avail. The Swedish rearguard will sit out the second game of the suspension on Tuesday against the Rangers and will be eligible to return to action next Wednesday versus the Stars.

NHLPA Appeals Rasmus Andersson Suspension

The National Hockey League Players' Association has appealed the four-game suspension handed out to Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson for his hit on Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine Friday night in Columbus. It appeared Andersson made direct contact with the head of Laine in the dying seconds of the Flames' 3-1 loss and the league responded with a four-game ban. For fantasy managers, it would still be prudent to keep Andersson on your bench as he will certainly miss time moving forward, regardless of the upcoming decision. The Swede has notched a goal and three points along with 14 blocked shots across his first five games this season.

Rasmus Andersson Appeals His Suspension

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson has officially appealed his four-game suspension. He sat out his first game of the suspension Sunday versus Detroit. If there's no change to the length of Andersson's suspension, the Swedish blue-liner will be forced to skip an entire week of action, including a special Heritage Classic matchup against Edmonton this coming Sunday. Calgary struggled badly against the Red Wings and lost 6-2. Chris Tanev replaced Andersson as Noah Hanifin's partner on the first defensive pairing and both finished the contest with a minus-two rating. Andersson's absence has also resulted in changes on the power-play units, as Hanifin moved up on Sunday and MacKenzie Weegar joined the second unit.

Flames Planning To Appeal Rasmus Andersson's Suspension

The Calgary Flames are planning to appeal Rasmus Andersson's four-game suspension. The Swedish defenseman is set to sit out his first match Sunday versus Detroit. Andersson is a key cog on Calgary's blue line, and his absence will be felt all over the ice. The 26-year-old has kicked off the 2023-24 campaign with three points (one goal, two assists) in five games with 13 shots on goal and 14 blocks. MacKenzie Weegar should receive a larger role while Andersson is out, with Jordan Oesterle set to join the lineup.

Rasmus Andersson To Have Hearing For Elbowing Penalty

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson is set to have a hearing for delivering an elbow to the head of Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine in the dying seconds of Friday's 3-1 loss in Columbus. Andersson appeared to leave his feet while making direct contact to the head of Laine with his elbow. Laine left the ice slowly and did not travel with the Blue Jackets for Saturday's game in Minnesota. Given the nature of the hit, it appears it's not a matter of if Andersson will be suspended but for how long. As a result, fantasy managers would be wise to expect an absence for the blueliner while a scour through the waiver wire would also be a prudent move at this stage.

Rasmus Andersson Confident Of Bounce-Back Year By Flames

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson feels the team can be competitive again and looks forward to proving doubters wrong in 2023-24. "We have a really good team," Andersson recently said at the NHL European Player Media Tour. "We just have to make a few adjustments, which I think we'll make. I think a lot of people have kind of written us off because of last year, so it will be fun to come in with a chip on our shoulder and prove to everyone how good of a team we really are." Calgary missed the playoffs for the second time in three years last season. However, on a personal level, Andersson had a good campaign with a career-high 11 goals and 49 points in 79 games. He should be around the 50-point mark again in 2023-24 as long as he stays healthy.

Rasmus Andersson Cleared For Action

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson (undisclosed) appears on track to return to the lineup Thursday versus Detroit, with doctors clearing him for action. The Swedish rearguard was hit by a car when riding a scooter last week and he has missed the last three games. Before being knocked out of the lineup by a freak accident, Andersson had a proud record of having played in 323 consecutive regular-season games. He has skated in 51 games this season, registering seven goals and 27 assists with 111 shots on net, 40 hits and 89 blocks.

Rasmus Andersson Day-To-Day After Getting Hit By Car

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day after he was hit by a car while driving a scooter in Detroit. He was on his way to dinner Wednesday when the incident occurred. Andersson was taken to the hospital for tests and was released later in the evening. He has been ruled out for Thursday's matchup against the Red Wings, but Andersson luckily escaped serious injury and shouldn't be out for long. The 26-year-old is having a very productive season with 34 points, 111 shots on net, 40 hits and 89 blocks registered in 51 appearances. Christopher Tanev will be filling in for him on the first defensive pairing on Thursday and Noah Hanifin will move to the first power-play unit.

Rasmus Andersson Helps Out With Two Assists

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson recorded two assists Wednesday as the team came from behind to beat Seattle 3-2. His first helper came in the middle of the second frame when Nazem Kadri tied the game on the power play and Andersson then teamed up with Kadri to set up Jonathan Huberdeau for the game-winner with 12 minutes played in the third. The Swedish blue-liner looked for a goal himself with four efforts on the net, and he had two blocks and one hit with a plus-one rating in 25:53 of ice time. Andersson had a breakout campaign last season and has continued to put up nice numbers in 2022-23 as well, collecting 26 points in 37 outings. On Wednesday, Andersson became only the fifth Flames defenseman in the past 30 years to record 60-plus points in a calendar year.

Rasmus Andersson Helps Out On Two Goals

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson recorded assists on both of the team's goals in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Boston. He picked up a power-play assist on a Matthew Tkachuk marker and also helped Sean Monahan on the scoreboard. The Swedish blue-liner now has 15 assists across 28 games and these are his only points this season. It's been a very solid campaign for the 25-year-old, who also helps out fantasy managers with blocks and whose overall rating for the season stands at a strong plus-13. Andersson's fantasy stock is further boosted by the fact that he sits on the first power-play unit.
