Travis Konecny Inks Eight-Year Extension With Flyers

Philadelphia Flyers right wing Travis Konecny has signed an eight-year contract extension. The team locked him up on a long-term deal for $70 million. Konecny's contract will count $8.75 million against the salary cap and will kick in from the 2025-26 campaign. While injuries have held him back, Konecny has still produced back-to-back 60-point seasons and enjoyed a career year in 2023-24. The prolific winger scored 33 goals and had 68 points in 76 outings. Konecny is in his prime at 27 and should provide plenty of value to fantasy managers for years to come.

Jamie Drysdale Expected To Be Ready For Training Camp After Surgery

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale (lower body) has undergone surgery for a "significant injury" but is expected to be available for the start of training camp. Drysdale, who was acquired from Anaheim in January, featured 24 times for the Flyers this season, recording five points (two goals, three assists) with 34 shots on goal, 27 blocks, and 18 hits. He missed 16 games because of an upper-body injury sustained in late February. The 22-year-old is a highly-rated blue-liner, but injuries have kept Drysdale back in recent seasons. It's good to know that he will be fully ready for the 2024-25 campaign, and, hopefully, the worst is behind him injury-wise.

Ivan Fedotov Agrees To Two-Year Extension With Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers and goaltender Ivan Fedotov have agreed to a two-year contract extension that carries a $3.25 million average annual value. The 27-year-old was drafted by the Flyers in the seventh round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft but didn't join the team until late in the 2023-24 regular season after his campaign with the KHL's CSKA Moscow came to a conclusion. Fedotov struggled in his limited NHL time, posting a 4.95 goals-against average and an .811 save percentage in three appearances but was largely brilliant throughout his lengthy stint in the KHL. He posted a 2.37 GAA and a .914 Sv% across 44 games with CSKA Moscow this season and has been as good as a 2.10 GAA and a .931 Sv% across 32 outings back in the 2019-20 season

Rasmus Ristolainen Undergoes Triceps Surgery

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has undergone surgery to repair a triceps tendon rupture. The veteran blueliner hasn't appeared in a game since Feb. 10 against the Seattle Kraken and endured a career-worst offensive season in the 2023-24 campaign. In his age-29 season, Ristolainen recorded just one goal and four points across 31 games in an injury-shortened season. He had maxed out with six goals and 45 points across 79 games while with the Buffalo Sabres in the 2016-17 season but his production at the offensive end of the ice has dropped dramatically in recent seasons. The Finn is expected to be ready for the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.

Sean Couturier Out At Least The Next Two Games

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier will not be available to the team for at least the next two games due to an upper-body injury. The center remains day to day and did not travel with the team for a game against the Sabres on Friday and the Blue Jackets on Saturday. "Little nicked up now, hopefully we'll get him back here and get him going down the right road," Flyers bench boss John Tortorella said on Friday. Couturier was injured when he fell hard into the board during a 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders on Monday. The Flyers sit third in the Metropolitan Division but the Islanders, Capitals, and Penguins all sit within two points with the Capitals owning a game in hand.

Sean Couturier Out For A Couple Of Games

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (shoulder) will miss the team's upcoming back-to-back set. He hurt his shoulder on Monday versus the Islanders and won't be in the lineup on Friday when Philadelphia faces Buffalo and in Saturday's matchup against Columbus. The Flyers captain has also sat out some action as a healthy scratch recently. He's been in an ugly slump since February and has had a disappointing campaign with 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) in 70 games. Bobby Brink is set to replace Couturier in the lineup on Friday and is projected to skate on the second line.

Jamie Drysdale To Return Monday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale (upper body) will return to the lineup Monday when the team takes on the New York Islanders. The 21-year-old has missed the past 16 games due to an upper-body injury. "I just came in, they said today was the day, but you never know, and then I came and just saw the number on the board," Drysdale said. "It's nice to be back. It [stinks] being out, especially when your team is kind of going into war night in and night out. That's never fun, so it's just real good to be back." Drysdale has been beleaguered by injuries in his young career, skating in just eight games last season before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. He has three goals and nine points in 27 games between the Ducks and Flyers this season.

Nick Seeler  • D  •  Flyers

Nick Seeler Returning On Saturday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler (lower body) will be back in the lineup when his team takes on the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. The blue-liner has missed the past 11 games with a lower-body injury after blocking a shot off his ankle in a contest against the St. Louis Blues on March 4. At the time of his injury, Seeler was leading the NHL with 184 blocked shots. He now sits fourth. "I just think getting back to my game as quickly as I can is probably the best thing for me, and that includes blocking shots," Seeler said. "But just playing simple and playing my game and hopefully can get back to that tonight." The defensive-minded Seeler has one goal and 12 points while adding 112 hits in 63 games this season.

Sean Couturier A Healthy Scratch Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier is a healthy scratch for Tuesday's home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The veteran was reportedly frustrated by the decision by head coach John Tortorella. "I guess we're going to the best lineup available tonight to get a win," the veteran said. "So, it is what it is. ... I've got to leave my ego aside, I guess, and hopefully team finds a way to win here tonight and I can get back into [the lineup] soon. Couturier has tallied 11 goals and 36 points in 64 games this season but has just one goal over his last 27 contests. He missed the entire 2022-23 season due to a back injury and played in just 29 games the season prior.

Owen Tippett Delivers Three Assists In High-Scoring Loss

Philadelphia Flyers winger Owen Tippett led all skaters with three points in Saturday's 11-goal thriller against Boston. He registered a hat trick of assists as Philadelphia got outgunned 6-5. Two of the assists came in the third period, which featured seven goals by the teams. Tipped has started to work on a scoring streak lately and boasts points from three consecutive games. He's looking to get to 50 points for the first time in his career and is also flirting with a 30-goal campaign. The 25-year-old is currently on 24 goals and 43 points with 64 games played. He has a chance to tie his career-best point streak in Tuesday's tough matchup against Toronto.

Travis Konecny Could Return Thursday

Philadelphia Flyers winger Travis Konecny (upper body) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and is nearing a return to the lineup. Konecny missed the team's last six games with an upper-body injury suffered on February 21. The electric forward has 54 points (27 goals, 27 assists) in 57 games played this year and will be a welcome addition to a Flyers team that is looking to overperform expectations and sneak into the playoffs. He will immediately return to top line, top powerplay duties when he returns and should be inserted back into fantasy lineups.

Flyers Immediately Place Ryan Johansen On Waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers have immediately placed center Ryan Johansen on waivers. The veteran was acquired as part of the trade that sent defenseman Sean Walker to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday but his inclusion was strictly financially related. He is owed $4 million in the final year of his deal next season as the Flyers took that salary off Colorado's books in order to secure a first-round pick in the swap. Johansen has struggled this season, his first in Colorado, with just 23 points in 63 games while averaging just 13:39 of ice time per game, his lowest figure since his 2011-12 rookie season. He will almost certainly clear waivers before potentially being sent to the minors.

Scott Laughton Misses Practice Wednesday

Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to illness. Given the trade speculation surrounding the 29-year-old, some alarm bells went off after he wasn't seen on the ice Wednesday but there appears to be another reason for his absence. A quality two-way center, Laughton has recorded 10 goals and 32 points across 63 games on the season after he recorded a career-high 18 goals and 43 points in 78 games last season. He also has 132 shots, 117 hits, 50 penalty minutes, and a plus-seven rating on his resume this season. He is currently in the third year of a five-year deal that carries a $3 million annual cap hit.

Flyers Making Progress On Extension For Nick Seeler

The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly making progress on a contract extension for defenseman Nick Seeler. The 30-year-old is currently scheduled to hit unrestricted free-agent status at the end of the season but it appears the Flyers could very well lock him up. The defense-first blueliner has recorded just one goal and 12 points on the season but he also has 112 hits and 78 penalty minutes on his ledger. Additionally, his 184 blocks rank first in the NHL and he is a plus-15 on the season. A valued penalty killer, Seeler is a veteran of 288 games in six NHL seasons with the Wild, Blackhawks, and Flyers. He currently carries a $775K cap hit.

Travis Konecny To Remain Out On Saturday

Philadelphia Flyers winger Travis Konecny (upper body) will miss a fifth straight game on Saturday against Ottawa. There was initially hope of him being ready to return, but that won't be the case. The Flyers now hope to have him back in action on Monday versus St. Louis. Konecny has been in top form throughout the campaign, producing 54 points (27 goals, 27 assists) in 57 games. He's on pace to have the most goals in a Flyers uniform since Scott Hartnell recorded a 37-goal campaign in 2011-12. Tyson Foerster has moved to the top line as Konecny's replacement, posting four goals and one assist during a four-game hot spell.

Cal Petersen Clears Waivers

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Cal Petersen has cleared waivers, paving a path for a demotion to the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The 29-year-old started Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins but was shelled for seven goals on 32 shots (.781 save percentage) while taking the loss. It was just the fifth appearance (fourth start) of the season in the NHL for the former Los Angeles Kings netminder as he sports a 3.90 goals-against average and an .864 save percentage, going 2-2-0 in the process. He has posted a 3.26 GAA and .890 Sv% across 15 games with the Phantoms, as well. Once a highly-regarded netminder, Petersen scuffled to a 3.75 GAA and .868 Sv% in 10 games with the Kings last season while spending the majority of the campaign with the AHL's Ontario Reign.

Travis Konecny, Jamie Drysdale Without Timetables To Return

Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny (upper body) and defenseman Jamie Drysdale (undisclosed) will not suit up for Tuesday's game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning and are without timetables for a return to action, according to head coach John Tortorella. For Konecny, he will miss his third straight game after suffering an upper-body injury during practice on Friday. He sits with 27 goals and 27 assists for 54 points across 57 games on the season. Fantasy managers have also been rewarded with 53 hits, 188 shots on goal, 57 penalty minutes, and a plus-15 rating. Drysdale, recently acquired in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks, has notched two goals and four points across 17 games since joining the club. He was injured after taking a hit from Penguins forward Jansen Harkins in a contest on Sunday.

Jamie Drysdale Labeled As Week-To-Week

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale (undisclosed) is considered week-to-week. He appeared to have hurt his left shoulder in Sunday's contest against Pittsburgh. An injury to the same shoulder kept Drysdale sidelined for almost all of the 2022-23 campaign. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, there's hope Drysdale can return to action this season, so it looks like the injury isn't as bad as it was last campaign. Following a trade from Anaheim, Drysdale has posted four points (two goals, two assists) in 17 games with the Flyers. Egor Zamula is poised to replace him in the lineup on Tuesday versus Tampa Bay.

Jamie Drysdale Exits With Injury On Sunday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale suffered an undisclosed injury in Sunday's 7-6 defeat to Pittsburgh. He didn't play in the third period after heading straight to the locker room following a hit from Pittsburgh forward Jansen Harkins. Drysdale finished with 10:39 of ice time, posting one hit and a minus-one rating. The young defenseman was playing in his 17th game for the Flyers after being acquired in a trade with Anaheim last month. He has registered four points (two goals, two assists), 21 shots, 16 blocks, and 12 hits with the team. Philadelphia returns to action on Tuesday versus Tampa Bay, and we should know more about Drysdale's injury ahead of the contest.

Travis Konecny Injured In Practice

Philadelphia Flyers right wing Travis Konecny suffered an undisclosed injury in Friday's practice, leaving his status for the weekend's back-to-back against the Rangers and Penguins up in the air. If he's forced to come out of the lineup, Konecny would miss his first action of the season. The 26-year-old has been in immense form lately, registering a seven-game point streak with five goals and seven assists. He boasts 27 goals and 54 points in 57 games for the season. Tyson Foerster (lower body) might be Konecny's replacement in the lineup after returning to full practice following a four-game stint on the sidelines.
