Philadelphia Flyers center Noah Cates scored twice in their victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday evening. Cates found the back of the net for the first time on the power-play in the opening minutes of the third period. Then, in the final minutes, Cates would strike again and scored the game-winner on a backhand shot. Cates also tallied only block and a +1 rating in this contest. This two-goal outing snapped a seven-game goal drought for Cates. However, he has remained productive, tallying six points over his previous seven games. Overall, through 40 games this season, the 25-year-old has tallied 19 points (nine goals, ten helpers) and averaged over a hit per game and 0.55 blocked shots per game. Cates remains a solid value play in DFS formats in favorable settings playing on the second line.
Philadelphia Flyers forward Noah Cates will miss the next six-to-eight-weeks due to a lower-body injury. Cates briefly left Saturday's game against the Islanders after blocking a shot by Islanders blueliner Ryan Pulock, recognized as one of the hardest shooters in the game. However, Cates did return and even logged a shift in overtime as part of his club's 1-0 shootout win. The 24-year-old is in the midst of his second full season with the Flyers and has recorded one goal and four points with 19 shots and a minus-three rating through 21 games, averaging 14:25 of ice time per game in the process. Expect Garnet Hathaway to see an increased role in Cates' absence, especially on the team's second power-play unit.
Philadelphia Flyers forward Noah Cates has inked a two-year extension. Philadelphia locked him up with a $5.25 million contract that has a $2.625 cap hit. The 24-year-old was initially set for salary arbitration as a restricted free agent, but an agreement was found before a third party was needed to settle the issue. Cates is coming off his rookie campaign which he ended with 13 goals and 38 points across 82 appearances. He was ranked sixth in scoring among all first-year players. The former fifth-round pick has received a lot of praise for his defensive work as well and he should only get better with more experience.
Philadelphia Flyers left wing Noah Cates showed off his talent against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins on Sunday, going for three points in a 4-1 victory. He started things off with an assist on a Morgan Frost goal and lit the lamp two times himself, once on the power play. The 23-year-old rookie fired off six shots in just 11:17 of action and had two blocks and one hit. Cates has made quite an impression in his last five games, registering seven points. He boasts nine points in total through his first 12 career appearances with 22 shots and 21 hits. The Stillwater, Minnesota native has brought some excitement to the City of Brotherly Love during a miserable campaign and he'll get three more chances to shine during the final week of the regular season.
