Sean Couturier Out At Least The Next Two Games

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier will not be available to the team for at least the next two games due to an upper-body injury. The center remains day to day and did not travel with the team for a game against the Sabres on Friday and the Blue Jackets on Saturday. "Little nicked up now, hopefully we'll get him back here and get him going down the right road," Flyers bench boss John Tortorella said on Friday. Couturier was injured when he fell hard into the board during a 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders on Monday. The Flyers sit third in the Metropolitan Division but the Islanders, Capitals, and Penguins all sit within two points with the Capitals owning a game in hand.

Sean Couturier Out For A Couple Of Games

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (shoulder) will miss the team's upcoming back-to-back set. He hurt his shoulder on Monday versus the Islanders and won't be in the lineup on Friday when Philadelphia faces Buffalo and in Saturday's matchup against Columbus. The Flyers captain has also sat out some action as a healthy scratch recently. He's been in an ugly slump since February and has had a disappointing campaign with 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) in 70 games. Bobby Brink is set to replace Couturier in the lineup on Friday and is projected to skate on the second line.

Sean Couturier A Healthy Scratch Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier is a healthy scratch for Tuesday's home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The veteran was reportedly frustrated by the decision by head coach John Tortorella. "I guess we're going to the best lineup available tonight to get a win," the veteran said. "So, it is what it is. ... I've got to leave my ego aside, I guess, and hopefully team finds a way to win here tonight and I can get back into [the lineup] soon. Couturier has tallied 11 goals and 36 points in 64 games this season but has just one goal over his last 27 contests. He missed the entire 2022-23 season due to a back injury and played in just 29 games the season prior.

Sean Couturier Ready To Go Saturday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (lower body) will be good to go Saturday against New Jersey. Couturier's status was left in doubt for the Stadium Series game when he was forced to exit Thursday's contest against Toronto with a lower-body injury. Philadelphia's newly appointed captain will hope to add to his 11 goals and 22 assists on Saturday. He will resume his regular duties on the top line and the first power-play unit.

Sean Couturier Ends Special Night With Injury

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier suffered a lower-body injury on Thursday against Toronto. He was forced to exit the game in the third period. The former Selke Trophy winner got hurt in his first outing as the team's new captain. The injury came at a really bad time, as Couturier's status for Saturday's Stadium Series clash against the New Jersey Devils is now also in doubt. Couturier sits fourth in scoring on the team with 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 51 games. Ryan Poehling could get a chance to move into the top six without Couturier.

Sean Couturier, Jamie Drysdale Returning On Thursday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (undisclosed) and defenseman Jamie Drysdale (illness) will both return to the lineup for Thursday's contest against the visiting Dallas Stars. Couturier has been labored by a minor injury that cost him the past two games. After missing the entire 2022-23 season due to a back injury, the veteran has returned to record 10 goals and 29 points on 113 shots over 40 games this season, including a goal and five points and 19 shots over his last five games. Drysdale, recently acquired from the Anaheim Ducks, recorded an assist in each of his first two games with the Flyers before missing the past two games with an illness. Philadelphia has surprised its way to a 24-14-0 record to this point, good for second place in the Metropolitan Division.

Sean Couturier Out On Saturday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier will sit out Saturday's action against Winnipeg with a minor undisclosed injury. The Flyers will be without the veteran for the third time this season. After sitting out the entire 2022-23 campaign, Couturier has had a solid comeback season, with 10 goals and 19 assists registered in 40 appearances. Bobby Brink will slot into the lineup as Couturier's replacement.

Sean Couturier Will Be Game-Time Decision Saturday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (undisclosed) is dealing with an unknown injury and is at risk of missing Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings. Couturier has missed a couple of games this year already and has been a game-time decision a few times as well, which makes sense since he had played only 29 games in the previous two seasons combined. When he's been on the ice, Couturier hasn't lost much, as the veteran has posted 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) as part of the Flyers first line and first powerplay unit. He is severely underrated in fantasy and should be owned in standard and deeper leagues.

Sean Couturier To Return To The Lineup Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (lower body) will return to the lineup on Tuesday when the club takes on the hosting San Jose Sharks. The veteran has missed each of the last two contests after he suffered a lower-body injury against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, but he returned to practice Monday in San Jose. A back injury cost the 30-year-old the entire 2022-23 season while he appeared in just 74 games between the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns. Through 10 games this season, Couturier has registered two goals and eight points in 19:32 of average ice time per game. He has 20 shots and four penalty minutes to his credit but also just a pair of hits and a zero plus/minus rating. He is expected to return to his spot on the top line and top power-play unit on Tuesday in San Jose against a Sharks team off to a historically poor start to their season.

Sean Couturier Out Friday With Lower-Body Injury

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier will not play Friday with a lower-body injury suffered Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres. It is unfortunate news, as the Flyers' number one center was off to a very strong start to his season after missing the last year and a half due to a back injury. The good news here is that the injury isn't back-related, and Couts is deemed day-to-day for now. Expect Morgan Frost or Scott Laughton to move into Couturier's spot on the first line, with Frost likely taking over duties on the top powerplay unit.

Sean Couturier Good To Go Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (undisclosed) will be in the lineup Tuesday versus Vancouver. Couturier's status for the game was in doubt after he sat out Monday's practice, but the Flyers will be happy to know that the former Selke Trophy winner won't have to miss any game action. Philadelphia head coach John Tortorella will have Couturier paired with Joel Farabee and Bobby Brink on the top line Tuesday, with Morgan Frost a healthy scratch for the contest.

Sean Couturier Misses Monday's Practice

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier sat out Monday's practice with an undisclosed injury. According to Flyers head coach John Tortorella, Couturier is "banged up," and the injury isn't related to his previous back problem, which kept the veteran centerman sidelined for the entire 2022-23 campaign. The latter part of the statement is great news, but it's still going to be a major blow for Philadelphia if Couturier can't get himself game-ready for Tuesday's tilt against the Canucks. The 30-year-old has tallied an assist and three shots on goal with a plus-three rating through the first two games of the season.

Sean Couturier Plays His First Game Since 2021

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier was finally back in action on Monday, logging 18:05 of ice time in a 6-0 defeat to New Jersey. The game marked Couturier's first outing in 646 days. He last suited up on Dec. 21, 2021. The game ended in a heavy defeat, but it must have been a special night for Couturier after his lengthy battle with back problems. Couturier has been a big two-way force for the Flyers and should be amped up for the 2023-24 campaign. Hopefully, he can stay away from further injury troubles.

Sean Couturier And Cam Atkinson Ready For Training Camp

Philadelphia Flyers forwards Sean Couturier (back) and Cam Atkinson (neck) are expected to be on the ice when training camp opens next month, according to the team's president of hockey operations Keith Jones. Both players missed the entire 2022-23 season with injuries. Jones noted that they were already healthy to come back at the end of the season. The duo will be a huge addition to the Flyers, who finished 31-38-13 last term. Couturier is a former Selke Trophy winner who has two 30-goal seasons under his belt and Atkinson is a proven scorer in the league with 236 goals and 216 assists posted in 700 games.

Sean Couturier Has Back Revision Surgery

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier has undergone back revision surgery and will be unable to play for 3-4 months. Couturier's season debut has been delayed because of a back problem and sadly we won't be seeing him for quite a while. He also had season-ending back surgery in February, so talk about bad luck. Couturier's last game was on Dec. 18, 2021, meaning he will have been out of action for over 12 months when he has completed his recovery from his latest back surgery. The Flyers have somehow gone 5-2-0 at the start of the season without him and Cam Atkinson (upper body), who also hasn't yet played this season and remains without a return date. Kevin Hayes and Scott Laughton have been the top-six centers with Couturier unavailable, while Atkinson's absence has opened up opportunities to the likes of Owen Tippett and Noah Cates.

Sean Couturier Avoids Surgery, Considered Week-To-Week

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier won't need surgery to fix a back issue and the team considers him week-to-week. The 29-year-old already had back surgery in February, which ended his 2021-22 campaign early, so it's great news that he doesn't need to go under the knife again. Couturier managed to produce six goals and 17 points in 29 games last term before his campaign was cut short by injury. He'll be expected to do much better in 2022-23 once he's healthy, with Claude Giroux having moved on and a big eight-year extension taking effect.

Sean Couturier Set To Miss The Start Of The Season

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier has reportedly suffered a herniated disc in his back and is set to miss the start of the 2022-23 NHL season. Early reports are suggesting that the 29-year-old will be sidelined for 12 weeks. Couturier already missed a large chunk of last season with a back injury, so this is a bitter blow for the two-time 30-goal scorer. He managed just 29 games in 2021-22, scoring six goals and dishing out 11 assists. Couturier had four very prolific seasons before getting bitten badly by the injury bug last term and the team going through a really rough campaign. He should be able to enjoy a nice bounce-back campaign once he's back healthy.

Sean Couturier Out For The Season

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (back) is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing back surgery on Friday. Couturier last played on December 18 and appeared in only 29 games this season, totaling six goals, 11 assists and 17 points. Couturier is expected to need three months to recover from the surgery and he should be ready for the start of next season, as he enters the first year of an eight-year, $62 million contract extension that he signed in the offseason.

Sean Couturier Will Play Sunday Night

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier was a little late in going out for practice on Sunday. There is no cause for concern, though, as he looked fine ahead of the game versus New Jersey. Couturier did absorb a huge hit on Friday night, and the guess is the medical staff wanted to give him the once over. All looked well, and in warm-ups, everything was normal. Couturier will see his spot on the top-line of the power play. The center will be looking to snap out of a funk where he has just one point in his last nine games.

Sean Couturier Inks Eight-Year Extension with Philadelphia Flyers

Sean Couturier will be with the Philadelphia Flyers for another nine years potentially. Couturier signed an eight-year extension on Thursday for an AAV of $7.75 million. So, that total amount is $62 million Also, the new contract kicks in for the 2022-23 season. The center is one of the best two-way pivots in the NHL. Despite only playing 45 of 56 games last season, Couturier still wound up with 18 goals and 41 points. It will be interesting to see who Couturier paired with this season at even strength. On the power play, Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier should get to play with Ryan Ellis and that alone should be a treat. Couturier expects to play 20 or more minutes a night and will see his fantasy value stay quite high.
