Derek Forbort Out For Personal Reasons

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Derek Forbort has left the team for personal reasons and will not play against Florida on Thursday. It's possible Forbort will miss the rest of the team's current road trip, which includes two more stops after Thursday night. The veteran blue-liner has registered one assist with three shots and five blocks in the first three games of the season, averaging 16:53 of ice time on the third defensive pairing. Vincent Desharnais and Erik Brannstrom are the candidates to replace him in the lineup on Thursday. Neither player holds any fantasy value.

Derek Forbort Could Play In Game 5

Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort (undisclosed) could be an option for the team ahead of Tuesday's Game 5 tilt against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 32-year-old has been sidelined due to a pair of undisclosed injuries and hasn't played in a game since March 2. He then underwent surgery and played in a pair of AHL contests and practiced with fellow blue-liner Parker Wotherspoon on Monday. The veteran appeared in just 35 games for the Bruins this season, tallying four assists and a plus-eight rating in that time. The Bruins can close out the series with a win on home ice on Tuesday night on home ice.

Derek Forbort To Go On Conditioning Loan

The Boston Bruins have sent defenseman Derek Forbort to the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins on a long-term injury conditioning loan. The veteran blueliner has been out since March 2 due to a lower-body injury. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said on March 8 that Forbort was "more than likely" out for the season due to two separate undisclosed injuries. For the season, the 32-year-old has recorded four assists in 35 games while adding 68 hits, 65 blocks, and 17 penalty minutes to his resume. The Bruins enter Tuesday's contest against the Ottawa Senators sitting first in the Atlantic Division and can clinch the division with a victory in their season finale.

Derek Forbort Out On Thursday

Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort (undisclosed) won't play Thursday versus Toronto. He was already questionable for the tilt and has now officially been ruled out, leaving Boston without three defensemen for the contest as Charlie McAvoy starts a four-game suspension and Matt Grzelcyk (upper body) isn't available. Kevin Shattenkirk is set to play a much larger role on Thursday, with Mason Lohrei set to make his NHL debut and Ian Mitchell also coming into the lineup. Forbort is regarded as day-to-day, meaning he should make a relatively quick return to the lineup.

Derek Forbort Questionable For Thursday

Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort (undisclosed) is regarded as questionable for Thursday's big match against the Maple Leafs. Boston has already lost Charlie McAvoy to a suspension and won't have Matt Grzelcyk (upper body) available, meaning the blue line could be down to bare bones Thursday night. Forbort has collected only two points in eight games this season, but he's been highly effective, recording a plus-seven rating. Hampus Lindholm teamed up with Kevin Shattenkirk to form a new-look first defensive pairing in Wednesday's practice, while Brandon Carlo was paired with Mason Lohrei on the second pairing.

Derek Forbort Out For The Weekend

Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort (lower body) won't play this weekend against Minnesota and Buffalo. He made an early exit in Thursday's 3-0 victory over Winnipeg, and Forbort's injury will give Connor Clifton an opportunity to re-enter the lineup. Clifton has posted a nice plus-18 rating across 64 appearances while putting in a lot of work without the puck. He has recorded 178 hits and 97 blocks. However, managers shouldn't expect much from Clifton offensively, as he has tallied only five goals and 17 points with 81 shots on goal this season.

Derek Forbort Back For Bruins Tuesday

Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort (finger) will return from an 11-game absence Tuesday versus Tampa Bay. He was hurt on Nov. 1 in a game against Pittsburgh and was forced to undergo surgery to fix his right middle finger. Forbort will be on the bottom defensive pairing with Connor Clifton. The 30-year-old is a defensive defenseman who has collected only three points this season in 10 games with 27 hits and 18 blocks. He makes a good addition to the Bruins blue line but fantasy managers should look elsewhere.

Derek Forbort Pops Up With A Pair Of Goals

Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort was an unlikely hero on Saturday with two goals in a 5-2 victory over Philadelphia. He scored both of his goals in the second period and ended up with the game-winner. The 29-year-old finished with a plus-two rating and tallied three shots in total with one block, one hit and four penalty minutes. Forbort sits on the first defensive pairing, but he mostly doesn't do enough to attract the attention of fantasy managers. He has only five points, 17 hits and 10 blocks for the season in 14 games.
