Jakob Pelletier Ready For Action After 4 Nations Face-Off

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakob Pelletier will finally be available to make his team debut when the 4 Nations Face-Off concludes. The Calgary Flames traded Pelletier to Philadelphia on Jan. 30 alongside Andrei Kuzmenko, but the 23-year-old has not been able to suit up for his new team due to visa issues. Pelletier, a 2019 first-round pick, showed glimpses of good potential with the Flames but did not receive much ice time. He averaged 12:38 of action across 24 games this season, posting four goals and 11 points. A fresh start in Philadelphia may give him a boost.

Flyers Acquiring Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier From Calgary

According to Frank Seravalli of Dailyfaceoff.com, the Philadelphia Flyers are acquiring forwards Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2028 seventh-round pick from the Calgary Flames. In exchange, the Flyers are trading forwards Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee. Kuzmenko has played primarily in a bottom-six role with the Flames this season. Across 37 games, Kuzmenko has found the back of the net four times and added 11 helpers. However, in 2023, he tallied 22 goals and 24 assists. He could play on the same line with his former SKA St. Petersburg teammate, Matvei Michkov. Pelletier has tallied 11 points through 24 games this season and will likely see time on the bottom two offense lines, given his lack of scoring upside.

Jakob Pelletier Tallies Three Points In Victory

Calgary Flames left wing Jakob Pelletier tallied three points on Monday evening during their victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Pelletier opened the scoring with a snap shot goal in the first period. Later in the opening period, Pelletier would score again, this time on a wrist shot. In the second frame Pelletier would tally his third point of the evening, this time with a secondary assist on Jake Bean's second goal of the season. Pelletier tallied four shots on goal with three hits, one block, and a +3 rating. This was his best outing of the season as Pelletier never tallied multi-points in a single game this season. Overall, Pelletier has tallied eight points (three goals, five helpers) across 16 games. Pelletier will likely continue to have a spot in the Calgary bottom six if he can continue this offensive production.

Jakob Pelletier Exits Monday's Contest With Injury

Calgary Flames left wing Jakob Pelletier played less than a minute against the Rangers on Monday, exiting the contest with an upper-body injury. The talented winger skated in only his fourth game of the season following a lengthy recovery process from left shoulder surgery. It's not yet known if the two injuries are related. Pelletier, a first-round pick from 2019, has had an outstanding AHL career and boasts three goals and five assists through his first 28 NHL appearances.

Jakob Pelletier To Undergo Shoulder Surgery

Calgary Flames forward Jakob Pelletier will have surgery on his left shoulder next week and will be out indefinitely. The 22-year-old suffered the injury during the first period of a preseason contest versus the Seattle Kraken on Monday when he was driven into the boards by Kraken forward Marian Studenic. Pelletier debuted with the Flames last season after being drafted with the 26th overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and recorded three goals and seven points while averaging 14:11 of ice time per game. He has also impressed in the American Hockey League with 43 goals and 99 points across 101 games in the Flames' farm system over the last two seasons. His return will be on a month-to-month basis moving forward.

Jakob Pelletier Sustains An Upper-Body Injury

Calgary Flames left wing Jakob Pelletier was forced to make an early exit from Monday's preseason game versus Seattle, having suffered an upper-body injury. The 22-year-old got hurt in the final seconds of the first period when he was sent head-first into the boards by a hit from Kraken forward Marian Studenic. Pelletier notched an assist in the game and had two blocks with one hit before being forced to call it a night. Pelletier is hoping to crack the Flames roster full-time this season, and an injury could obviously derail his plans. The young forward collected seven points (three goals, four assists) in his first 24 career outings last season.
