Marc-Andre Fleury News
Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract extension with the Wild for the 2024-25 season. The 39-year-old contemplated retirement following the end of the team's regular season but decided to return for one more year. The 2024-25 season will be his final campaign in the NHL. "I've been asked a lot by fans, media, friends, what's next for me," Fleury said. "It's good that this is settled and I don't have to talk about it for another year. Next year will be last also. Excited to get this done." The veteran turned in a 2.98 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage across 39 games (35 starts) in the 2023-24 season while his 561 career wins sit second all-time.
Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury isn't ruling out a return to the Wild next season but also said it was likely a return to the Wild or retirement. "Yeah, it's probably Minnesota or retirement. I wouldn't want to move and take my three kids out of their environment. They've moved enough already. I don't want to uproot them." Fleury is in the final season of a two-year deal but said if he returns, it will be on a one-year contract. It's been a difficult season for the Wild while Fleury has posted a 2.85 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage in 36 games. Fleury ranks second all-time with 560 career wins.
Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 34-of-36 shots on goal in Friday's 3-2 victory against the Penguins. Fleury returned to the crease for his first start since Jan. 19 due to an upper-body injury, while the 39-year-old had a solid performance to follow up a pregame ceremony for moving into second place on the NHL's all-time goaltender wins list. Fleury is not a recommended option across standard formats as the veteran netminder has a record of 8-9-3 to go along with a 2.91 save percentage and .900 save percentage through 24 appearances.
Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury (upper body) could return to the lineup on Saturday against Anaheim. The veteran will be unavailable for a third consecutive game on Thursday versus Nashville, but he's considered day-to-day, and head coach John Hynes hasn't ruled him out for Saturday. Fleury's absence means a 27th start of the campaign for Filip Gustavsson on Thursday. He's started to turn around his season lately and will have a chance to grab a fourth consecutive win on Thursday night.
