Filip Gustavsson Needs Offseason Surgery

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson will undergo hip surgery in the offseason, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports. Wild general manager Bill Guerin is unsure whether Gustavsson will be ready for the start of next season. Gustavsson had to settle for a backup role in the 2026 playoffs, and this is another blow to him. He lost his starting position to Jesper Wallstedt despite showing fine form during the regular season. In 49 starts, Gustavsson registered a 28-15-6 record, a 2.69 goals-against average, a .904 save percentage, and four shutouts. If he isn't ready to play at the start of the 2026-27 campaign, Gustavsson's streak of four straight 20-win seasons could be in jeopardy.

Quinn Hughes Open to Signing Extension This Offseason

Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes said he is "definitely open" to signing a contract extension in the offseason, ESPN's Greg Wyshynski reports. Hughes will finish a six-year, $47.1 million contract at the end of the 2026-27 campaign, and Minnesota will want to lock him up with a new deal after acquiring him from the Vancouver Canucks in December. The 26-year-old proved to be a great fit in Minnesota, amassing 53 points (five goals, 48 assists) in 48 regular-season games. He added 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 11 postseason outings. Since his debut campaign in 2019-20, Hughes has been among the most productive defensemen in the league and will aim for a fifth consecutive 70-point campaign next season.

Joel Eriksson Ek Misses Second Round Due to Heel Injury

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek couldn't play in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against Colorado due to a heel injury. He broke the heel bone in his right foot during Minnesota's series-clinching Game 6 victory over Dallas in the first round. Although Eriksson Ek took part in the morning skate ahead of Game 3, his return doesn't appear to have been on the cards against Colorado. "You want to play," Eriksson Ek said. "I just couldn't do it. Too painful to skate." The Swedish forward also missed 12 regular-season games this year, finishing with 51 points (19 goals, 32 assists). Eriksson Ek is a strong fantasy contributor when healthy and will remain a core piece of the Wild offense in 2026-27.

Jonas Brodin Sits Out Round 2 Due to Toe Injury

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin revealed he suffered a toe injury during the team's postseason run. The Swedish veteran fractured his right big toe in Game 5 against Dallas in the first round. He missed the first-round clincher and all five games of Round 2 against Colorado. Late in his career, Brodin has been prone to injuries. He hasn't played more than 62 games in any of the past four seasons. In 2025-26, he had one of the worst offensive campaigns of his 14-year NHL career, finishing with 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) in 62 appearances. Brodin, who will turn 33 in July, has two seasons remaining on a contract with a $6 million cap hit.

Quinn Hughes Finishes Postseason With 15 Points

Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes recorded one assist in Wednesday's season-ending 4-3 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche. His work helped Marcus Johanson open the scoring just 34 seconds into the game, and Minnesota entered the first intermission with a 3-0 lead. Yet the Avalanche clawed back from the big hole, winning the series in five games. Hughes became the second-fastest American defenseman in history to reach 15 points in a postseason. He finished the playoffs with four goals and 11 assists in 11 games. During the regular season, Hughes tallied 76 points (seven goals, 69 assists) in 74 games, averaging at least a point per game for a third consecutive campaign. He posted 53 points (five goals, 48 assists) in 48 outings after joining the Wild from the Vancouver Canucks in a midseason trade. Hughes proved to be a great fit in Minnesota and could be even more productive next season now that he has fully acclimated to his new surroundings.

Matt Boldy Posts Two Assists in Season-Ending Loss

Minnesota Wild winger Matt Boldy produced two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche. With Boldy providing the creative spark, Minnesota won the first period 3-0, but the team couldn't survive the elimination game, allowing two goals in the final few minutes of regulation. It was a disappointing end to a big year for Boldy, who set new career highs with 42 goals and 85 points in 76 regular-season games. He added 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 11 postseason outings. In February, Boldy became the first player in Wild history to record back-to-back four-point games. As a versatile scorer who turned just 25 in April, Boldy is set to be a top fantasy contributor for years to come.

Jonas Brodin Unavailable for Game 5 Against Avalanche

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin (lower body) hasn't traveled with the team for Game 5 against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports. He will be absent for a sixth consecutive game due to a lower-body injury. If the Wild don't win on Wednesday, Brodin won't get a chance to return this season. Daemon Hunt and Jeff Petry have seen playing time during Brodin's absence, with Hunt appearing in all four games against Colorado. The 23-year-old has been limited to 13:47 of ice time per game, but he contributed an assist in Game 2. He has also recorded two SOG, seven blocks, and five hits.

Joel Eriksson Ek to Remain Out Wednesday

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body) won't play in Game 5 against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports. He hasn't traveled to Denver due to a lower-body injury, which has kept him out for the entire series. The Swedish forward has been listed as day-to-day, but his absence from the trip suggests he isn't yet close to returning. Until Eriksson Ek is ready to rejoin the action, Danila Yurov is poised to continue in a second-line role. He has been among Minnesota's most productive players in the second-round series, with one goal and two assists in four contests.

Jonas Brodin Won't Play Monday

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin (lower body) will miss a fifth straight game on Monday against the Colorado Avalanche, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. He has struggled to overcome a lower-body injury, leaving the Wild without a blue-liner who has a lot of playoff pedigree. Brodin's absence has allowed Daemon Hunt to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in his career. He has registered one assist, two SOG, three blocks, four hits, and a plus-two rating in three appearances. However, Hunt lacks fantasy value due to his limited playing time. So far, he has averaged only 13:57 of ice time per game.

Joel Eriksson Ek Remains Out Monday

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body) won't play in Game 4 against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday, Dylan Loucks of The Hockey News reports. He hasn't seen any action in the series so far due to a lower-body injury. In Round 1 against the Dallas Stars, Eriksson Ek amassed three goals and two assists, averaging 23:44 of ice time. His absence has left a huge hole on Minnesota's frontline, but the team managed to win Game 3 without him and will try to do so again on Monday night. Danila Yurov looks set to remain on the second line and has been productive in the series, notching two assists.

Zach Bogosian Back for Wild Saturday

Minnesota Wild defenseman Zach Bogosian (lower body) will re-enter the lineup for Game 3 against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports. The 18-year veteran didn't play in Game 2 due to a lower-body injury. Jeff Petry will be scratched to make room for Bogosian, who will skate with Jake Middleton in Saturday's game. In seven playoff appearances this year, Bogosian hasn't recorded any points, but he does have eight blocks and eight hits on his account. He has been limited to 13:09 of ice time per game, and Bogosian's workload is unlikely to increase on Saturday night.

Jesper Wallstedt  • G  •  Wild

Jesper Wallstedt Starting Game 3 Against Avalanche

Minnesota Wild goaltender Jesper Wallstedt will be back between the sticks in Game 3 against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. Wallstedt has been Minnesota's No. 1 this postseason, but Filip Gustavsson took over the crease in Game 2. Wild head coach John Hynes gave Wallstedt some time off after he allowed eight goals in the series opener against Colorado. It was a really tough night for Wallstedt, but he has been solid overall this postseason. The 23-year-old Swedish native holds a 4-3 record and has allowed 2.81 goals with a .903 save percentage. He'll look to bounce back Saturday on home ice, where Wallstedt has won two of three playoff outings.

Joel Eriksson Ek Not Ready to Return Saturday

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body) will remain out on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. The Swedish forward is close to returning from a lower-body injury, but he won't be available for a third consecutive game on Saturday night. As a result, Danila Yurov will continue in a second-line role and skate with the second power-play unit. Yurov has recorded assists in each of the first two games against Colorado, earning his first career postseason points. In six playoff appearances, the 22-year-old Russian rookie has also registered five SOG and nine hits.

Mats Zuccarello Expected to Play Saturday

Minnesota Wild right wing Mats Zuccarello (illness) is expected to be in the lineup for Game 3 against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports. The veteran forward missed Friday's practice due to illness, but Wild head coach John Hynes expects Zuccarello to be available for Saturday's contest. Zuccarello has already missed time this postseason due to an upper-body injury. He has recorded at least one point in each of his five playoff appearances, notching two goals and five assists. Zuccarello is a regular on the first line and the top power-play unit.

Joel Eriksson Ek to Be a Game-Time Decision Saturday

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body) is expected to be a game-time decision on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. He has missed the first two games of the series due to a lower-body injury, but Eriksson Ek could return for Game 3 after skating on Friday. His return would be a welcome boost for Minnesota. The Swedish forward has amassed five points (three goals, two assists) in six playoff games this year. If he's ready to play in Saturday's contest, Eriksson Ek will likely replace Danila Yurov in the top six and be an option on the power play.

Jonas Brodin Still Out Saturday

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin (lower body) won't play in Game 3 against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. He will miss a fourth straight game due to a lower-body injury. It's been a season full of health issues for Brodin, who also sat out 20 regular-season games. Jeff Petry and Daemon Hunt have received playing opportunities during Brodin's absence. Of the two, Hunt has made the bigger impact, contributing an assist in Game 2 against Colorado. In Game 2, both were part of the backline after Bogosian (lower body) dropped out of the lineup.

Mats Zuccarello Extends Point Streak to Five Games

Minnesota Wild right wing Mats Zuccarello extended his personal point streak to five games with an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. The veteran forward became only the third player in Wild history to record a point in each of his first five appearances of a postseason campaign. He has tallied two goals and five assists in five games. Zuccarello was unavailable for three contests during Round 1 against Dallas due to an upper-body injury. Since returning to the lineup, Zuccarello has formed a prolific trio with Kirill Kaprizov and Ryan Hartman. He is also a threat on the first power-play unit.

Kirill Kaprizov Nets Third Playoff Goal

Minnesota Wild left wing Kirill Kaprizov scored his third goal of the 2026 postseason in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. The Russian star needed just six seconds to respond to Martin Necas' opening goal in the first period. Unfortunately for the Wild, they were second-best again in the matchup and will take a 2-0 series deficit back home. On Tuesday night, Kaprizov caught teammate Quinn Hughes atop the postseason scoring charts. He has tallied 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in eight games. Including the regular season, Kaprizov has posted four goals and eight points in six meetings with the Avalanche this season. Colorado is struggling to contain him, but Kaprizov clearly needs more help in the series.

Filip Gustavsson Starting Game 2 Against Avalanche

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson will make his 2026 postseason debut in Game 2 against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night. Wild head coach John Hynes has decided to make a change in the blue paint after seeing Jesper Wallstedt allow eight goals in a 9-6 loss to Colorado on Sunday. Gustavsson had more starts than Wallstedt during the regular season, but he lost his starting spot for the playoffs due to poor late-season form. The 27-year-old allowed four or more goals in five of his last six regular-season starts. Overall, Gustavsson posted a 28-15-6 record, a 2.69 goals-against average, a .904 save percentage, and four shutouts. He won his only meeting with the Avalanche 5-2 on Feb. 26.

His tally this postseason includes three goals and eight assists, making Hughes the fastest player in Wild history to reach 10 playoff points with the team.
