Wild Acquire Bobby Brink

The Minnesota Wild have acquired forward Bobby Brink from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman David Jiricek. The 24-year-old is in the final season of his two-year contract, and he is set to become a restricted free agent this summer. Brink, who was a former second-round draft pick, brings some scoring depth to the Wild forward group, as he has totaled 13 goals and 26 points through 55 games.

Jeff Petry Traded to Wild

The Minnesota Wild have brought in defenseman Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers ahead of Friday's trade deadline. The 16-year veteran was acquired in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round draft pick. Petry is averaging a career-low 14:51 of ice time this season, and his offensive output was limited to eight assists in 58 games with the Panthers. Additionally, he has recorded 135 shots, 57 blocks, and 59 hits. Petry, who turned 38 in December, no longer has any fantasy value in the later stages of his career, but he will bring veteran experience and depth to the Wild's blue line, which has struggled with injuries for much of the season.

Marcus Johansson Makes Early Exit Versus Lightning

Minnesota Wild left wing Marcus Johansson (upper body) didn't finish Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, Dylan Loucks of The Hockey News reports. He exited the action with an apparent upper-body injury in the third period following a hit from Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh, who was given a two-minute interference penalty on the play. After the game, Wild head coach John Hynes said Johansson "looks pretty good right now." There's hope Johansson won't miss additional time. The Swedish veteran contributed an assist on Tuesday night and has amassed 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) in 57 contests. Minnesota's schedule gives Johansson some added recovery time, with the next game not until Friday.

Michael McCarron Sent to Wild for Second-Round Pick

The Minnesota Wild have acquired center Michael McCarron from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2028 NHL draft. Minnesota hopes to improve its penalty killing and face-off success with McCarron. He will also add muscle to the lineup, having led the Predators with 165 hits this season. The 30-year-old, who is in the final season of a two-year, $1.8 million contract, has also recorded 12 points (five goals, seven assists), 86 shots, 60 blocks, and 73 penalty minutes across 59 appearances. McCarron doesn't hold much fantasy value, but he looks like a good addition to the Wild's bottom-six.

Marcus Foligno Considered Week-to-Week

Minnesota Wild left wing Marcus Foligno (lower body) is week-to-week and will sit out a second consecutive game on Tuesday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was placed on Injured Reserve on Monday. Foligno's physical style often leaves him hurt. This season, the veteran has appeared in only 48 of Minnesota's 61 games, registering 11 points (six goals, five assists), 55 shots, and 151 hits. Robby Fabbri, who was claimed off waivers on Monday, looks poised to have a regular role until Foligno returns. In 15 appearances with the St. Louis Blues this campaign, Fabbri recorded four points (one goal, three assists), 17 shots, and 34 hits.

Jonas Brodin Rejoins Wild Lineup

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin (lower body) has been cleared to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Swedish rearguard has been sidelined for 14 games due to a lower-body injury. Across 42 appearances this season, Brodin has recorded 15 points (three goals, 12 assists), 43 shots, 91 blocks, and a plus-13 rating. He averages the third-most ice time among Minnesota's defensemen at 21:19 per game. Brodin will join Jared Spurgeon on the second defensive pairing, with Daemon Hunt heading into the press box as a healthy scratch.

Joel Eriksson Ek Available Sunday

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek (face) will play on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports. The Swedish forward took a stick to the face in Friday's loss to Utah and was limited to 10:25 of ice time. Fortunately, he won't have to miss additional time after receiving good news from an eye doctor. Eriksson Ek is attempting to post his third 60-point campaign in 2025-26. In 54 outings, he has totaled 17 goals and 25 assists. Prior to his early exit on Friday, he was riding a seven-game point streak.

Joel Eriksson Ek Leaves Game With Facial Injury

Minnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek (face) left Friday's 5-2 loss to the Utah Mammoth after logging only 10:25 of ice time. He took a high stick to the face from Mammoth forward Nick Schmaltz in the second period. There was no update on him after the game, leaving a question mark hanging over Eriksson Ek ahead of Sunday's matchup with the St. Louis Blues. Eriksson Ek has totaled 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) in 54 appearances, dishing out 78 hits. If the Swedish forward can't play on Sunday, Danila Yurov could return to the top six, while Ben Jones would be his likely replacement in the lineup.

Matt Boldy Makes History With Another Four-Point Performance

Minnesota Wild winger Matt Boldy notched two goals and two assists in his first outings as an Olympic champion on Thursday, playing a pivotal role in an impressive 5-2 road win over the Colorado Avalanche. The 24-year-old recorded two power-play assists and bagged a couple of empty-net goals. Boldy became the first player in franchise history to post four-plus points in back-to-back games. He is carrying an eight-game point streak. Boldy sits third in the league with 34 goals and is one of only nine players to record at least 30 goals and 30 assists during the campaign. After a career-high 73 points in 2024-25, Boldy already has 66 points through 55 outings this season and is poised to shatter his scoring record from last year.

Filip Gustavsson Makes Late Exit Thursday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson (illness) was forced to leave Thursday's 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche with only 1:04 remaining in the third period. The Swedish netminder became ill during the game. Gustavsson put in a big performance, saving 44 of 45 shots. Jesper Wallstedt allowed one goal on two shots after replacing Gustavsson, who improved to 21-9-6 on Thursday night. With the Wild back in action on Friday against the Utah Mammoth, Wallstedt is likely to receive the starting nod. He has also seen a lot of success in the Wild crease this season, posting a 14-5-4 record.

Quinn Hughes Enters Olympics in Red-Hot Form

Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes is set to be one of the standout players at the 2026 Olympic tournament. The American blue-liner has been in great form recently, setting a new Wild record for the longest assist streak by a defenseman. Hughes has had at least one helper in 10 consecutive appearances. This has also made him the first defenseman in NHL history with an assist streak of at least 10 games in his first season with a franchise. Thanks to his impressive playmaking ability, Hughes is tied with Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov for the longest active point streak in the NHL. Overall, Hughes has tallied 31 assists and 34 points in 26 appearances with the Wild, averaging a massive 28:18 of ice time. He is also set to eat up a lot of ice time on Team USA's blue line, along with Columbus' Zach Werenski and Boston's Charlie McAvoy.

Matt Boldy Records Historically Fast Hat Trick Wednesday

Minnesota Wild winger Matt Boldy rocked the Nashville Predators with an early hat trick and a four-point performance in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime victory. The 24-year-old posted the fastest hat trick in franchise history to start a game, netting his third goal with just 12:58 played in the first period. Zach Parise held the previous record of 16:33, set in 2016. Boldy completed his big performance with an assist on Jared Spurgeon's game-winning goal late in overtime. The prolific winger became the sixth player in the league this season with at least 30 goals and 30 assists. He has managed 62 points (32 goals, 30 assists) in 54 contests. Boldy will now shift his attention to representing Team USA at the Olympics before continuing the season with the Wild on Feb. 25.

Marcus Foligno Out Wednesday Against Predators

Minnesota Wild left wing Marcus Foligno (illness) won't play on Wednesday against the Nashville Predators. The veteran forward will be unavailable for a second consecutive contest due to illness. Several Wild players have been under the weather recently, including Nico Strum, who returned from a one-game absence on Monday against Montreal to fill Foligno's spot in the lineup. Meanwhile, Jesper Wallstedt (illness) also remains unavailable on Wednesday night. Luckily for Minnesota, this will be the team's final game before the Olympic break, and they can get healthy over the next few weeks.

Quinn Hughes Records Hat Trick of Assists

Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes recorded a hat trick of assists against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night, playing a key role in a 4-3 overtime win. Hughes set up a pair of even-strength goals in regulation and helped Kirill Kaprizov end the game on the power play in overtime. On Monday, Hughes matched Kaprizov's franchise record with a nine-game assist streak. It also ties a league record for the longest assist streak by a defenseman in their first season with a franchise. Playing in his 484th career game, Hughes reached 400 assists with his final helper. Only the legendary Bobby Orr (437 games) and Paul Coffey (464 games) have reached 400 assists with fewer games among defensemen. Hughes is truly a special player, and he's had an incredible start in Minnesota, posting 32 points (three goals, 29 assists) in 25 outings.

Daemon Hunt Injured In Monday's Win

Minnesota Wild defenseman Daemon Hunt (upper body) was limited to three shifts and 1:52 of ice time in Monday's 4-3 overtime win against the Montreal Canadiens. He took a high stick to the neck from Canadiens forward Ivan Demidov. Fortunately, Hunt appears to have avoided a serious injury. According to Dylan Loucks of The Hockey News, Wild head coach John Hynes expects Hunt to be fine. Minnesota has one more game scheduled before the Olympic break, facing the Nashville Predators on Wednesday. Hunt has recently impressed on the Wild defense, covering for injured veterans Jonas Brodin (lower body) and Zach Bogosian (lower body). The latter was able to return from a 13-game absence on Monday, bumping David Jiricek from the lineup.

Jonas Brodin to Miss 6-8 Weeks

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin (lower body) will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks, Joe Smith of The Athletic reports. The recovery timeline began last week. Brodin was already ruled out for the Olympics, and it looks like he will also miss some time after the tournament. Minnesota's blue line is without Zach Bogosian (lower body) as well, leaving the defense without two seasoned veterans. In his 14th NHL campaign, Brodin has recorded 15 points (three goals, 12 assists), 43 shots, and 91 blocks in 42 games. Recent injuries in the Wild's backline have given Daemon Hunt and David Jiricek regular opportunities to play.

The Wild have seen Boldy take a significant leap in 2025-26, averaging more than a point per game. He has contributed 27 goals and 24 assists in 48 appearances. Amazingly, despite this being only his 20th appearance for the team, Hughes already matched a franchise record for the most three-assist games in a single season. It was his fourth hat trick of assists with the Wild. Overall, Hughes has posted 24 points (two goals, 22 assists) in 20 games since moving to Minnesota. He has finished six of his outings with multiple points, including three of the last four.
