Calgary Flames left wing Nick Ritchie is set for his first appearance for the team Monday against Dallas. He was brought in from Arizona last week in a historic deal that saw brothers switch teams in the same trade, with Brett Ritchie getting sent to the desert. Ritchie made 58 appearances for the Coyotes and recorded nine goals and 21 points with 87 shots on net, 171 hits and 25 blocks. He will now beef up Calgary's second line, joining Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau for Monday's action. Skating with two offensively gifted players provides a good boost for Ritchie's fantasy value.
Toronto Maple Leafs winger Nick Ritchie is on waivers as of Thursday. Ritchie has produced one goal and seven helpers in 30 contests, mainly playing on Toronto's third and fourth line. His play has been sub-par for the most part, and it's no surprise he was placed on waivers as the Leafs are getting healthy. As more of a role player, Ritchie could very well end up in the AHL for the remainder of the season if no other team picks him up off waivers.
Nick Ritchie Shipping Out to Toronto on New Contract
Nick Ritchie signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. His new deal will pay him an AAV of $2.5 million over the next two seasons. The former Boston Bruin scored 15 goals last year. He expects to replace Zach Hyman, who was signed earlier in the week by the Edmonton Oilers. Ritchie does a lot of the things that Hyman did but maybe does not skate quite as fast. Either way, he will create space for the first or second line. Also, the left-winger did have five power-play goals and nine points on the man advantage. He will be a hard player to move out from near the opposing goaltender. The new Maple Leaf forward may have even more fantasy value than he did last season. This is true especially if he is paired with Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews.
Boston Bruins left wing Nick Ritchie posted two points in Saturday's 3-2 win over Buffalo, scoring early in the third period to tie things up at two and recording an assist on Craig Smith's game-winning goal. He delivered four hits and was tied with David Pastrnak for most shots in the game with five. Ritchie ended an eight-game pointless run with the performance, and he now has nine goals and 17 points for the season in 30 games with 67 shots and 51 hits. The 25-year-old is a decent fantasy asset in deep leagues. He skates on the team's second line with Krejci and Smith while logging time on the team's top power-play unit.
Boston Bruins forward Nick Ritchie will retain his place on his team's second line (alongside forwards David Krejci and Craig Smith) when he lines up against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. The 25-year-old is off to an excellent start in his first full campaign with Boston - producing eight points (four goals, four assists), six power-play points, 22 shots and 12 hits through nine contests. 29% owned in Yahoo! fantasy leagues, Ritchie serves as a very attractive short-term add given his deployment in the Bruins' top-six forward group and top power-play unit.
