Adam Eaton Designated For Assignment

The Los Angeles Angels have designated outfielder Adam Eaton for assignment on Sunday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. The Angels signed Eaton on July 14 to provide outfield help with Justin Upton and Mike Trout on the injured list. However, with Upton back and with the call-ups of Jo Adell and Brandon Marsh, he became expendable. Eaton is hitting .201 with six home runs, 30 RBI, 38 runs, and three stolen bases across 84 games split between the Angels and the Chicago White Sox. This move doesn't change much for fantasy managers, as Eaton was irrelevant to begin with.

Adam Eaton Hitting .244 With Angels

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Adam Eaton's offensive struggles continue to persist heading into the team's matchup against the Rangers on Tuesday. The gritty veteran is enduring an abysmal offensive season, slashing .209/.290/.333 through 234 at-bats. Eaton was let go by the White Sox mid-season and the Angels have been hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. But the 32-year-old has struggled, slashing only .244/.255/.289 with one RBI and two doubles through 16 games in Los Angeles. Eaton possesses very little fantasy value at this time, lacking the ability to hit for power or average at this time.

Adam Eaton Leading Off Thursday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Adam Eaton will hit leadoff Thursday against the A's. The veteran now has 34 at-bats under his belt since being picked up by the Angels and is slashing .235/.250/.265 with only one extra-base hit. The gritty 32-year-old has struggled offensively all season and has had difficulties squaring up fastballs. After a productive first month of the season driving in 18 runs for the White Sox, his offense has fallen off the map. Eaton is hitting .250 when batting from the top-spot in the lineup through 28 at-bats this season and carries very little fantasy value into Thursday's action.

Adam Eaton Will Be Everyday Right Fielder For Angels

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Adam Eaton will be the everyday right fielder going forward for the team, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Eaton was signed by the Angels earlier in the week after he was released by the Chicago White Sox just before the All-Star Game. He has not looked very impressive this season, slashing .201/.298/.344 with five homers, two steals, 28 RBI and 33 runs scored over 58 games with Chicago. It's hard to see Eaton doing much better in Anaheim, and his displacing of Taylor Ward from right field won't cause too much impact either, as Ward is slashing .228/.312/.399 with seven home runs, one steal, 28 RBI and 28 runs scored over 59 games.

Adam Eaton Signs Major League Deal With Angels

Free-agent outfielder Adam Eaton signed a major league deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, according to Sam Blum of The Athletic. Eaton was officially released by the White Sox on Monday after slashing .201/.298/.344 with five home runs, two steals, 28 RBI and 33 runs scored over 58 games. The move helps create some outfield depth for the Angels, who are dealing with the continued absences of Justin Upton and Mike Trout. Eaton should get a handful games in the starting lineup, but it's unlikely that he will have much value in fantasy. And any value that he might put up will all but disappear once Upton returns to action, which should happen within the next couple weeks. Unless he starts swinging an insanely hot bat right out of the break, fantasy managers should go ahead and leave him on the waiver wire.

White Sox Release Adam Eaton

The Chicago White Sox granted outfielder Adam Eaton his unconditional release on Monday after he was designated for assignment last weekend. Eaton didn't last long in his return to Chicago after hitting just .201/.298/.344 with five home runs, 28 RBI and two stolen bases in 219 plate appearances in 2021. The 32-year-old should eventually find another team, but it probably won't be more than a minor league contract at this point in his career. The Pale Hose have suffered through some big injuries in their outfield, but Adam Engel is back in the fold and veteran Brian Goodwin finished the first half on a nice run at the plate, so Eaton became the odd man out.

White Sox Designate Adam Eaton For Assignment

The Chicago White Sox have announced on Wednesday that they have designated outfielder Adam Eaton for assignment. Eaton joined the White Sox for the second time in his career with a one-year deal this offseason, but things didn't go as planned this time around. The veteran hit a weak .201 with five home runs, 28 RBI and two stolen bases over 189 at-bats. Eaton could get a chance with another organization, but his days of fantasy relevance are all but over at this stage in his career. Outfielder Adam Engel (hamstring) has been activated from the 10-day injured list and will replace Eaton on the active roster. Engel has been banged up most of the season and most of his value comes as a defensive outfielder. Engel can be avoided in all formats for now.

Yermin Mercedes Optioned, Adam Eaton Activated

The Chicago White Sox optioned catcher/designated hitter Yermin Mercedes and right-hander Zack Burdi to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday and activated outfielder Adam Eaton (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Mercedes was the talk of baseball in the first month of the season when he had a 1.113 OPS and five home runs. However, he's recorded a .537 OPS and just two home runs since and will head to the minors to make some adjustments. Fantasy managers in keeper/dynasty leagues should hang onto him. Eaton has been out for several weeks with a right hamstring strain. The veteran outfielder is slashing just .195/.296/.345 with five home runs, 27 RBI and two steals in 203 plate appearances. Eaton is pretty mediocre across the board in most fantasy categories and will mostly be an option in AL-only setups.

Adam Eaton Placed On Injured List Thursday

Chicago White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a strained right hamstring, with the move made retroactive to June 15, the team announced on Twitter. Eaton got off to a good start in April, but since May 1 he is slashing .159/.282/.284 with two home runs, one steal, nine RBI and 14 runs scored over 32 games. It's yet another injury to strike Chicago outfielders this season, as they will now rotate through Leury Garcia, Andrew Vaughn, Brian Goodwin and Adam Engel to fill in the outfield. In a corresponding move, the White Sox recalled Zack Burdi from Triple-A Charlotte to fill Eaton's spot on the roster.

Adam Eaton Will Sit On Tuesday

Chicago White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton will rest against the Toronto Blue Jays and left-handed starting pitcher Robbie Ray on Tuesday. Eaton has mostly sat against lefties this season, so it's no surprise he is absent from the lineup this evening. The veteran outfielder has shown some power this year with five home runs, but he is only hitting .197 on the season. Eaton doesn't offer much for fantasy managers to be excited about and should remain on the waiver wire. Outfielder Adam Engel will replace Eaton on Tuesday and bat eighth. Engel is a risky DFS play on Tuesday in a tough matchup against Robbie Ray.
