Edwin Rios Lands On Injured List, Adam Kolarek Recalled
Los Angeles Dodgers first/third baseman Edwin Rios has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to left hamstring tightness which forced him from Sundays contest. Taking his place on the active roster is left-hander Adam Kolarek, who has vultured a pair of wins out of relief this season and not allowed a run in 5 frames of work. Rios has proven an adapt fill-in bat thus far in his career, having produced a 164 OPS+ in 87 plate appearances. His path to full-time duties remains clogged due to the Dodgers immense depth, but he is an excellent DFS play when available.
Adam Kolarek With First Save Thursday Versus The Yankees
Tampa Bay Rays reliever Adam Kolarek earned his first save of his career Thursday versus the Yankees. He came into a jam as the bases were loaded with no one out in the ninth inning. He would record three straight outs without allowing any runs to earn his career milestone. Kolarek is a rookie pitcher who has been used mostly in middle relief. He does not have much fantasy value unless the Rays start using him as a closer going forward.
The Tampa Bay Rays have recalled reliever Adam Kolarek from Triple-A. Jeremy Hazelbaker has been designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Kolarek has put together a strong 2018, pitching to a 1.70 ERA and a 50/10 K/BB ratio over 29 games. He'll work in a middle-relief role for now, but Kolarek could be a name to watch in the Rays bullpen if he continues to succeed.
