The Chicago Cubs acquired catcher Bobby Wilson from the Minnesota Twins on Thursday in exchange for catcher Chris Gimenez and a player to be named later or cash considerations. Wilson has been on the disabled list since last week with a sprained right ankle and was hitting just .178 with a .523 OPS in 47 games. Neither catcher is fantasy relevant. Gimenez hit .143 with one RBI in 12 games for the Cubs this year.
Joe Mauer Back In Lineup, Bobby Wilson Catching Thursday
Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer is back atop the lineup on Thursday to face the Boston Red Sox. The veteran sat on Wednesday against the lefty David Price, but with Rick Porcello on the mound, Mauer is back in his leadoff spot. Bobby Wilson will take over catching duties for Mitch Garver, Logan Morrison is at designated hitter, Robbie Grossman is at right field, and Max Kepler will play left. The Twins arent batting much for average against Porcello (combined for .248 in their careers) but their OPS stands at .703, so the usual suspects Eddie Rosario and Eduardo Escobar, who continue to produce should still be started against the right-hander.
