Ryan Weber Joins Red Sox Roster; Brandon Brennan DFA'd
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Ryan Weber was selected from Triple-A Worcester Sunday, and will be the long man out of the bullpen if needed against Toronto. Relief pitcher Brandon Brennan was designated for assignment to make room, after throwing three scoreless innings in Saturday's game. Weber does not figure to be a factor for fantasy purposes, and his stay in Boston ultimately may be brief.
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Brandon Brennan was called up prior to Thursday's game against the Houston Astros. With the bullpen being taxed heavily lately, Brennan represents a fresh arm. He did not appear in Thursday's contest, but should be one of the first options out of the pen in the coming days. Brennan appeared in eight games for Triple-A Worcester, allowing two runs on six hits and five walks in 8 2/3 innings while striking out 11. He does not figure to be relevant for fantasy purposes. Reliever Phillips Valdez was sent down in a corresponding move.
