Charlie Blackmon News
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a 7-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday in Denver. Blackmon knocked in two runs with a single in the bottom of the first inning and later picked up a double for his second hit of the game. The 34-year-old veteran is slashing just .174/.269/.391 with one home run and four RBI over 23 at-bats to begin the season but fantasy managers shouldn't be worried as April is historically the worst month for Blackmon over his career. Trevor Story is off to a sluggish start himself so there's nothing to see here.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is getting the day off on Wednesday, as he will sit in favor of Yonathan Daza who will bat eighth against Madison Bumgarner and the Diamondbacks. Blackmon had started in each of the first five games of the year for Colorado, and is currently 2-for-19 with a double, a home run and two RBI. He'll look to get on track when he rejoins the lineup for Thursday's finale.
Colorado Rockies right fielder Charlie Blackmon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 11-6 loss to the Dodgers. The Rockies were getting blanked through the first six innings as Dodgers' starter Trevor Bauer was rolling, throwing a no-hitter. Trevor Story reached base via a single in the bottom of the seventh before Blackmon smashed a two-run homer to right center field to put the Rockies on the board. Colorado ended up scoring all six of their runs via home run in the same frame but they still fell short of victory. Blackmon is coming off a six home run and 42 RBI campaign in 2020 with a .303/.356/.448 batting line. He doesn't steal bases like he used to and the power has declined over the last few years but he'll still put up solid numbers hitting in the heart of the Rockies' lineup this season.

It was a strange 2020 season for Colorado Rockies outfielderCharlie Blackmon, as he came out as the hottest hitter in the league by hitting .395/.440/.553 in his first 30 games, but then he sputtered to the finish line by hitting .206/.270/.336 for the final 30 contests. His final line still made him a very useful fantasy hitter with a .303 batting average while scoring and driving in runs at a strong pace. However, there are very few steals left in his game and the power numbers are no longer trustworthy. He also did not look like a very good hitter by the batted-ball metrics in 2020, posting a near career-worst 29.7% hard-hit rate and a career-high 10.5% swinging-strike rate. All of this leaves his projected production moving forward limited to batting average and runs scored. He has become much cheaper in drafts, but fantasy managers will likely still have to spend a top-100 pick on him. Given that there are lots of ways to find a useful batting average much later in the draft, Blackmon is seemingly a poor investment for 2021.
