Chris Young News
The Texas Rangers hired Chris Young as executive vice president and general manager on Friday, and he'll work under president of baseball operations Jon Daniels, who has been the team's GM since 2005. The 6-foot-10 Young pitched 13 seasons in the majors and has been the senior vice president in charge of on-field operations and the umpires with MLB since May of 2018. Young lives in Dallas with his wife and three children. The right-hander won a career high-tying 12 games for the Rangers in 2005 but was part of a six-player trade with the Padres. He spent five years in San Diego and was an All-Star in 2007. He also pitched with the Mets, Mariners and Royals, helping KC win the World Series in 2015. Young went 79-67 with a 3.95 ERA in 271 career appearances (221 starts).
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Chris Young (hips) has been diagnosed with labral tears in both of his hips and will be out for the rest of the season. He had surgery on his right hip on Friday and will undergo surgery on the left hip at a later date. Young wasn't fantasy relevant to begin with in 2018, but this is a tough break for the 34-year-old. He was hitting only .168/.252/.363 with six home runs and 13 RBI in 56 games for the Halos as a part-time player.
Updating an earlier report, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Chris Young was placed on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain. Jabari Blash has been recalled to take his place. Young was removed from Tuesday's game in the first inning after falling awkwardly while chasing a fly ball. Young is hitting .168 on the season, and Blash will likely be a bench bat with little fantasy upside.
