Christian Arroyo Signs Minors Pact With Brewers

Free-agent infielder Christian Arroyo has signed a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. The deal is worth $1.5 million, plus incentives, if Arroyo is able to crack the big-league roster. The 28-year-old has spent the last three seasons with the Red Sox, most recently hitting .241 with three home runs, one stolen base, and a .637 OPS across 66 appearances in the 2023 season, production that fell 35% below the league average, as per his 65 wRC+. However, Arroyo's bat graded slightly above the league average from 2021-2022 as he hit .286 with six HR and a .736 OPS across 300 trips to the plate in the 2022 campaign. He is a lifetime .252 hitter with 24 HR, eight SB, and a .693 OPS across 295 MLB contests. He will most likely vie for reps at third base with Brice Turang set for everyday reps at second base in 2024.

Christian Arroyo Activated, Raimel Tapia Designated For Assignment

The Boston Red Sox activated infielder Christian Arroyo (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated outfielder Raimel Tapia for assignment in a corresponding move. Arroyo is back in the starting lineup on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays and left-hander Shane McClanahan, playing second base and batting ninth. The 28-year-old will return to a .257/.295/.365 slash line with a homer, 11 RBI, a stolen base and 12 runs scored in 74 at-bats this year. He'll mostly play the keystone for Boston against left-handers, making him mostly a fantasy option in AL-only leagues. Tapia could be playing elsewhere if he clears waivers. The 29-year-old outfielder has hit .264 (23-for-87) with four doubles, a triple, a homer, 10 RBI and six steals in 39 games this year for Boston.

Christian Arroyo Removed From Tuesday's Game

Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo left Tuesday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles early after experiencing right hamstring tightness. According to Ian Browne of MLB.com, the move was just precautionary. Before his exit, he was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. On the season, Arroyo is slashing a paltry .189/.218/.245 with no homers, five runs, three RBI, and one steal over 19 games. If the 27-year-old is forced to miss time, fantasy managers can expect Enmanuel Valdez to see more playing time. The rookie only had four games under his belt before Tuesday and was a career .255 hitter with some power (.465 slugging) in the minors, but it's best for fantasy managers to find someone that doesn't have as much to prove.

Christian Arroyo On The Bench Monday

Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo is on the bench for the game on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles. It's the second straight day that Arroyo will start on Boston's bench after he returned to action on Saturday following a minor hamstring injury. With Arroyo out again, Enrique Hernandez will get another start at the keystone and will hit fifth against Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer. Yu Chang remains at the 6 and will hit ninth in the batting order. It appears that Arroyo has fallen out of favor a bit in the middle infield early on, as he's hitting just .189 (10-for-53) with three doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and five runs scored in his first 18 games.

Christian Arroyo Returning On Saturday

Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. He'll return to the lineup after missing each of the last four games due to a lingering hamstring issue. Arroyo was struggling at the bat before the injury, so maybe some time off has helped him find his groove. Regardless, he'll play second base and bat seventh against left-hander Wade Miley on Saturday.

Christian Arroyo Out Against Twins

Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is not in the team's starting lineup against right-hander Kenta Maeda and the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Arroyo has been out of the team's lineup since injuring his hamstring on Monday, although he should be available off the bench and could return this weekend. Enrique Hernandez will get another start at the keystone while hitting fifth in the BoSox's batting order. The 27-year-old Arroyo has gotten off to a very slow start at the plate so far this year, going 8-for-50 (.160) with two doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored in his first 16 games. Hopefully he can pick it up at the plate once his hamstring is healed.

Christian Arroyo Available On Wednesday

Boston Red Sox infielder Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is available for Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. He remains out of the lineup for the second straight game, but is available off the bench, according to manager Alex Cora. The 27-year-old suffered an injury during Monday's contest and hasn't played since then. Emmanuel Valdez will cover second base and bat ninth versus right-hander Joe Ryan on Wednesday.

Christian Arroyo Unlikely To Play In Series Against Twins

It seems as though Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo (hamstring) is unlikely to play in the current series against the Minnesota Twins due to a tight hamstring. With Arroyo out on Tuesday, Enrique Hernandez got the start at the keystone on Tuesday against the Twins and right-hander Sonny Gray for the first time since last Sept. 28. The 27-year-old Arroyo left Monday's game early with his hamstring injury and may not return to Boston's lineup until sometime this weekend. If Arroyo is eventually forced to the injured list, Yu Chang will see more regular playing time up the middle for the BoSox. Arroyo has gotten off to a slow start with the bat, going 8-for-50 (.160) with two doubles, three RBI and a stolen base in 16 games played.

Christian Arroyo Swipes First Bag Of The Season

Boston Red Sox second baseman Christian Arroyo stole a base, went 2-for-3 from the plate and logged an RBI in a 4-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. He was off to a slow start before Wednesday's game with one hit in 13 at-bats. However, if he keeps stealing bases, he could be a potential asset in fantasy with the new rules that were implemented that benefit faster players on the base paths.

Christian Arroyo Could Return Tuesday

Boston Red Sox infielder/outfielder Christian Arroyo (illness) has been away from the team for most of the week due to an illness, but he was finally able to work out at Yankee Stadium on Sunday night, and skipper Alex Cora thinks that Arroyo could be back in the lineup by Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. He hasn't played since Sept. 18, but he's been one of Boston's hottest hitters since his return from the injured list on July 30, hitting .329 with 10 doubles and an .815 OPS. On the season in his 256 at-bats, the 27-year-old has been a strong utility player for the BoSox, hitting .281/.321/.414 with six home runs, 31 RBI, 30 runs scored and five stolen bases.
