Los Angeles Angels pitcher Daniel Wright was roughed up in his spot start for the Angels on Thursday, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk across 4 1/3 innings. He struck out four and exited after 73 pitches in his first appearance since May 4. Wright has now pitched 17 1/3 innings on the year and has a 5.19 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and an 11:7 K:BB. Wright may get another start before starter Alex Meyer (back) returns, but he should not be owned or streamed in any format. His next start would be at home against the Atlanta Braves.
Los Angeles Angels right-hander Alex Meyer has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with back spasms. The Angels will recall right-handed reliever Brooks Pounders in his place, but the rotation spot will be filled by Daniel Wright. Meyer has struggled in his five starts with the Halos this year, pitching to a 5.79 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP, but with 28 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings. The length of his absence is unknown at the moment. Wright has appeared in three games for the Angels this season, including one start. He has a 5.54 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP on the season and only seven strikeouts in 13 innings. He should not be owned except in very deep formats and is not a good streaming option going forward.
