Daulton Jefferies To Be Re-Evaluated On Monday

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Daulton Jefferies (hip) will be re-evaluated on Monday, according to manager Bob Melvin. The right-hander is reportedly dealing with hip left discomfort, which could cause him to miss time. Jefferies was tagged for nine runs (five earned) on nine hits in his two innings of work on Sunday. Regardless of the hip injury, Jefferies could be headed to Triple-A if he doesn't clean it up. Fantasy managers can go ahead and ignore Jefferies for the moment.

Spencer Howard, Daulton Jefferies Could Be Rotation Options

With San Francisco Giants right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) dealing with elbow soreness in camp, it's possible that pitchers Spencer Howard or Daulton Jefferies could make the club's Opening Day roster as starting rotation options. Howard, 27, and Jefferies, 28, are both in camp this year as non-roster invites for the Giants. Howard hasn't had success so far in 38 big-league outings (29 starts) over four seasons, posting a rough 7.20 ERA and 1.67 WHIP with 55 walks and 109 K's in 115 innings. Jefferies, meanwhile, is attempting to return in 2024 after his second Tommy John surgery. In his three years with the Oakland Athletics, the right-hander went 2-8 with a 5.75 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 14 walks and 37 K's in 56 1/3 innings over 14 appearances (10 starts). The Giants could be in trouble early on if they're relying on Howard or Jefferies in their rotation.

Daulton Jefferies Will Not Be Restricted In Camp

San Francisco Giants right-hander Daulton Jefferies (elbow) will not face any restrictions and is a full-go in spring training this season. The 28-year-old was sidelined for the entire 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery and hasn't been on a big-league mound since May 18, 2022, as a member of the Oakland A's. Jefferies' MLB career has been limited to just 14 appearances (10 starts), and he owns a 5.75 ERA and a subpar 15.2% strikeout percentage across 56 1/3 innings in that time. In addition to his Tommy John surgery, Jefferies has also underwent thoracic outlet surgery in the 2022 season, limiting him to just five appearances and 15 innings of work that year. He could serve as a long reliever or as Triple-A starting depth for the Giants in 2024.

Daulton Jefferies Outrighted

The Oakland Athletics outrighted right-hander Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A on Monday. The 27-year-old right-hander made eight starts for the American League West club in 2022, throwing 39.1 innings and logging a 5.72 ERA and a 3.77 FIP. He also chipped in with 28 strikeouts compared to just eight walks allowed. As of now, Oakland's rotation options on the team's 40-man roster include left-handers Cole Irvin, JP Sears, and Ken Waldichuk, as well as right-handers Paul Blackburn, James Kaprielian, and Adam Oller.

Daulton Jefferies Has Tommy John Surgery

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daulton Jefferies (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery on Friday. The 27-year-old hurler had been out since mid-June after having surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. He also underwent Tommy John surgery back in 2017 so this is his second procedure on his elbow. The team should provide an update on him soon but fantasy managers shouldn't expect to see him back in uniform until midway through next season.

Daulton Jefferies Undergoes Thoracic Outlet Surgery

The Oakland Athletics have reported that starting pitcher Daulton Jefferies (shoulder) underwent thoracic outlet surgery this past Monday. The operation was performed by Dr. Greg Pearl in Dallas, Texas. The plan is for Jefferies to be shut down from throwing for four months. After that, he'll do some brief throwing, then he'll be shut down again until Christmas when he'll begin an offseason throwing program. The 26-year-old made eight starts this year and went 1-7 with a 5.72 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP.

Daulton Jefferies To Undergo Thoracic Outlet Surgery

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daulton Jefferies (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo thoracic outlet surgery on Monday. He was first diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome a few weeks ago, but was seeking a second opinion. He recently received that second opinion from Dr. Gregory Pearl in Dallas and Pearl will be the doctor performing the surgery on Monday. Jefferies will be out for the remainder of the 2022 season and will likely miss the start of the 2023 season as well. Over eight starts this year, he went 1-7 with a 5.72 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP.

Daulton Jefferies Diagnosed With Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Oakland Athletics right-hander Daulton Jefferies was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome on Friday. Jefferies was initially thought to be dealing with biceps tightness after allowing seven runs in his Wednesday start but further testing revealed a more severe issue. His Friday diagnosis is not good news for the 26-year-old, who will likely need to undergo surgery. The average recovery time is at least 11 months, meaning that Jefferies would be sidelined until sometime after the 2023 season begins. Jefferies has made eight starts in 2022, posting a 1-7 record, 5.72 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts over 39 1/3 innings of work.

Daulton Jefferies Dealing With Bicep Tightness

Oakland Athletics pitcher Daulton Jefferies (biceps) is experiencing biceps tightness and undergoing an MRI after Wednesday's start against the Minnesota Twins. He went allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings in Wednesday's 14-4 loss to the Twins. The 26-year-old's availability moving forward is in question, and he's considered day-to-day. Jefferies has struggled this season, owning a 1-7 record with a 5.72 ERA, 137 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts over 39 1/3 innings. Even if Jefferies avoids a significant injury, he can be left on the waiver wire in most league formats.

Daulton Jefferies Throws Five Scoreless Innings In 2022 Debut

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daulton Jefferies helped the team avoid a sweep against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. Making his first start of the year, the 26-year-old pitched five innings and allowed two hits, two walks and no runs while striking out two. He threw 30 of his 48 pitches for strikes. Jefferies has been one of the team's top pitching prospects the past few years, but he's struggled in his limited appearances in the majors. Prior to Sunday's outing, he had made six appearances in the majors (two starts) and had posted a 5.82 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP while averaging just 4.8 K/9. He's worth keeping an eye on in deep leagues and AL-only leagues, but he has an uphill battle toward being fantasy relevant. His next start will be on Friday against a terrifying Toronto Blue Jays offense.
