Deven Marrero Has The Best Game Of His Career On Sunday
Miami Marlins infielder Deven Marrero had the best game of his baseball career in Sunday's win over the San Diego Padres. Marrero went 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles, three runs scored, and an RBI. Marrero got the start at shortstop so that starter Miguel Rojas could have a day off. Anyone who happened to have Marrero in their DFS lineup for some reason certainly struck gold. He's not likely to get much more playing time and could actually be on his way back down to the minors once the Marlins get players back from injury.
Miami Marlins infielder Deven Marrero will join the big league roster on Wednesday. The organization has decided to purchase Marrero's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville. He was hitting fairly well in the minors, but has never seen much success at the MLB level. Marrero has not played in the MLB since August of 2019, but will start at third base and bat eighth on Wednesday. It's a nice story, but fantasy managers shouldn't bother using Marrero as a streaming choice or DFS option.
The Miami Marlins are expected to call up infielder Deven Marrero from Triple-A Jacksonville. Marrero is hitting .253/.330/.398 so far this season, but is off to a hot start this month, slashing .375/.429/.594 in June. Marrero can play all four infield positions and should be a solid bench option for the Fish, who are dealing with multiple injuries in their infield. Marrero is a career .194 hitter in 163 major league games and shouldn't attract any fantasy attention.
The Diamondbacks have acquired infielder Deven Marrero from the Red Sox for a player to be named later. Marrero comes to the D'Backs with a pedigree, having won three All-Conference Performer awards as well as a the Pac-10 defensive player of the year honor. In 71 games with the Red Sox last season, Marrero hit .211 with four home runs, 27 RBI and five steals. This is likely an organizational depth move for the Diamondbacks, as Marrero is blocked at third base by Jake Lamb.
Hanley Ramirez, Chris Young, Deven Marrero Starting In Game 2
Boston Red Sox designated hitter Hanley Ramirez, outfielder Chris Young and infielder Deven Marrero are starting in Game 2 of the Division Series on Friday. Ramirez will start at first base and hit fifth, Young is the DH and is hitting sixth and Marrero is starting at the hot corner and batting eighth against Astros left-hander Dallas Keuchel. First baseman Mitch Moreland and third baseman Rafael Devers will start on the bench. Han-Ram is an intriguing DFS pick today. He went 2-for-3 with a double while replacing Eduardo Nunez (knee) in Game 1, although he struggled mightily down the stretch in September. Ramirez is also 2-for-2 with an RBI in his career against Keuchel. Young is 7-for-23 (.304) with three RBI in his career against Keuchel, but Young struggled mightily against left-handers this season and is a high-risk/high-reward candidate. Marrero should be avoided in daily action.
Deven Marrero Demoted To Make Room For Eduardo Nunez
Boston Red Sox infielder Deven Marrero was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room on the active roster for third baseman/outfielder Eduardo Nunez, who was recently acquired in a trade with the Giants. The Red Sox also recalled infielder Josh Rutledge (concussion) from his rehab assignment with Pawtucket. Nunez was having a great year in San Fran with a career-high .308 average, .334 on-base percentage and 17 stolen bases in 75 games. He is making his first start for the BoSox as the designated hitter Friday while hitting in the two-hole. Nunez doesn't hit for much power and has been injury-prone, but his fantasy stock may be rising a bit heading to a much more potent lineup, especially if he continues to hit near the top of the order. However, top prospect Rafael Devers could cut into his playing time at the hot corner.
Boston Red Sox infielder Deven Marrero is hitting a dismal .147 in his most recent stint with the Red Sox. On the defensive side of the ball, Marrero has filled in nicely for third baseman Pablo Sandoval, but the Panda is healthy again, for now. The highlight of his young career includes hitting two home runs in a game off White Sox starter Jose Quintana, but unfortunately that is where the positives end. In the corresponding move, pitcher Hector Velazquez was called up to join the Red Sox.
Boston Red Sox infielder Deven Marrero homered off of White Sox starter Jose Quintana in the second inning and then again in the third Tuesday. He finished the night 2-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored. The Red Sox surged for six home runs in the contest but still sit second to last in the league with just 48 home runs. With third baseman Pablo Sandoval activated and looking to return to third base duties, Marrero could shift over to second to cover for an injured Dustin Pedroia (wrist). Marrero sits with a batting average of just .194 in 22 games with the Red Sox and is more valuable on the defensive side of the ball.
