Dinelson Lamet News
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Dinelson Lamet was designated for assignment on Saturday as the Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Gus Varland. Varland struggled in the major leagues last season as he posted a 6.64 ERA and 2.11 WHIP across 20 innings. Lamet pitched only 4 innings for the Dodgers this season to the tune of a 2.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. Lamet also tallied a save on April 3 against the San Francisco Giants. As a result, Daniel Hudson, Alex Vesia, and Joe Kelly should be viewed as top options to tally holds, and Evan Phillips should receive a majority of the save opportunities.

Dinelson Lamet Picks Up Save On Wednesday
With Los Angeles Dodgers closer Evan Phillips unavailable to pitch after appearing in three of the last four games for L.A., Dinelson Lamet picked up the save in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Giants. It was Lamet's first career save, and he needed just eleven pitches to get through the inning, throwing seven of them for strikes. The 31-year-old struck out two in the outing and now has a 3:1 K:BB through three appearances (3 IP) in 2024 without allowing a single hit or an earned run. The righty likely won't get many more save opportunities with Evan Phillips doing just fine, but in deeper leagues, he could help lower ERA and WHIP while chipping in some strikeouts for managers in need of help in those areas.

Dodgers Call Up Dinelson Lamet
The Los Angeles Dodgers selected right-hander Dinelson Lamet's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday and designated right-handed reliever Nabil Crismatt for assignment in a corresponding move. Lamet will be making his season debut when he gets into a game, as he hadn't appeared at all for Oklahoma City. The 31-year-old veteran will provide the Dodgers with some relief depth but won't be on the fantasy radar at all. The Dominican hurler made his MLB debut in 2017 with the San Diego Padres and had some early intrigue as a starter, but injuries and poor control eventually moved him to a low-leverage relief role. In his six big-league seasons, Lamet has a 4.66 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 168 walks and 471 K's in 363 1/3 innings over 118 outings (60 starts).

Dinelson Lamet Dealing With Visa Issues
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Dinelson Lamet, who is a non-roster invitee to spring training, isn't in camp with the rest of the pitchers and catchers yet due to visa issues, according to manager Dave Roberts. Other than Lamet, all of the pitchers and catchers are accounted for. Lamet can ill-afford to miss any time in spring training with his new organization as the seeks to claim a roster spot for Opening Day. The 31-year-old former starter fell apart last year with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox, sporting an 11.71 ERA and 2.35 WHIP with 23 walks and 32 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over 17 appearances (four starts). Injuries and control issues have really derailed what was once a promising career when he was with the San Diego Padres.

Dinelson Lamet Heads To Dodgers
Free-agent right-hander Dinelson Lamet signed a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Lamet has really struggled the last two years and has bounced around the league with three different teams. In 2023, he had a nightmarish 11.71 ERA (6.83 FIP) and 2.35 WHIP with 23 walks and 32 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over 17 appearances (four starts) with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox. However, the 31-year-old was much better in the minors with a 2.70 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Lamet showed some promise in a starting role for the San Diego Padres early in his career, but injuries and control problems have really hurt his cause in recent years. He'll most likely serve as organizational relief depth for the Dodgers in 2024.

Red Sox Call Up Dinelson Lamet
The Boston Red Sox selected the contract of right-hander Dinelson Lamet from Triple-A Worcester on Monday and designated left-hander Richard Bleier for assignment in a corresponding move. Since signing a minor-league deal with Boston on June 28, Lamet has posted a 3.72 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, seven walks and 16 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings over five appearances (four starts) for Worcester. It's unclear if the 31-year-old will be used in a starting or relief role in his time with Boston, but stretched out to provide a spot start or be used in long relief out of the bullpen. He had a brutal 11.57 ERA and 2.34 WHIP with 22 walks and 31 K's in 25 2/3 innings over 16 outings (four starts) for the Colorado Rockies earlier this year, so fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting anything from him the rest of this year.

Red Sox Add Dinelson Lamet On Minor-League Deal
The Boston Red Sox signed right-hander Dinelson Lamet to a minor-league deal on Wednesday. Lamet began the 2023 season with the Colorado Rockies before posting an ugly 11.57 ERA and 2.34 WHIP in 25 2/3 innings over 16 appearances (four starts) before he was eventually designated for assignment and released. The 30-year-old right-hander has always been raw with plenty of upside, but injuries have set his career back and he hasn't been able to find it consistently on the mound in either a starting or relief role. The Red Sox will hope they can unlock something in him, but he'll start at Triple-A Worcester. In 117 big-league outings (60 starts), Lamet has a 4.61 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and impressive 30.2% strikeout rate.

Dinelson Lamet Designated For Assignment By Rockies
The Colorado Rockies designated right-hander Dinelson Lamet for assignment on Saturday and recalled left-hander Gavin Hollowell from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Lamet gets cut after providing a horrendous 11.57 ERA, 2.34 WHIP and 22 walks in 25 2/3 innings over 16 appearances (four starts) for the Rockies this year. The Rockies were hoping moving Lamet to a starting role would help him, but that wasn't the case. Hollowell skipped Triple-A in 2022 to make six relief appearances in his big-league debut, and he allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits while walking four and fanning eight in seven innings. He has dealt with back and forearm injuries in 2023, but he had a 1.54 ERA with 14 K's and six walks in 11 2/3 innings on the farm. Noah Davis is a candidate to take Lamet's rotation spot in Colorado.

Dinelson Lamet Activated And Starting Wednesday
The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that they reinstated right-hander Dinelson Lamet (back) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Blair Calvo to Triple-A Albuquerque after Tuesday night's game in a corresponding move. Lamet will enter the starting rotation and face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday in his first start of the season and first start, period, since 2021 with the San Diego Padres. In 12 relief outings (10 2/3 innings) before going on the IL, Lamet had allowed 16 runs (15 earned) on 14 hits (two homers) while walking 12 and striking out 13. Injuries and poor control have set the 30-year-old back in recent seasons, but he showed flashes of dominance in his time in SD and could be worth a look in much deeper fantasy leagues when he's pitching on the road.

Dinelson Lamet Likely Starting Wednesday
Colorado Rockies right-hander Dinelson Lamet (back) will probably start Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. The right-hander hasn't pitched since May 3 after suffering back issues and landing on the injured list. Over 10.2 frames before the injury, Lamet pitched to a 12.66 ERA, 2.44 WHIP, and 22.8% strikeout rate. His 21.1% walk rate is ugly, and his Cy Young caliber days are probably behind him. Fantasy managers can pass on Lamet for another arm with fewer issues.
