Dinelson Lamet News
The Colorado Rockies avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Dinelson Lamet on Wednesday by agreeing to an undisclosed one-year deal. Lamet began the 2022 season with the San Diego Padres before being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rockies then claimed him off waivers from the Brewers in August. The 30-year-old pitched to a 4.05 ERA (3.46 FIP), a 1.20 WHIP, 29 strikeouts and 10 walks in 20 relief innings for Colorado to close out the year. The Padres traded him after he allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 16 hits while walking nine and striking out 16 in 12 1/3 relief innings to begin the season. Lamet began his MLB career as a starter, but injuries have relegated him to relief duties in recent seasons.
The Colorado Rockies claimed right-hander Dinelson Lamet off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Lamet was shipped to the Milwaukee Brewers in the trade that sent closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres on Monday, but the Brewers designated Lamet for assignment on Wednesday due to a crowded bullpen at the major league level. The Rockies have decided to scoop him up, bringing him back to the National League West. The 30-year-old was once a promising starting pitcher, but injuries have moved him to a bullpen role the last two years, and he has struggled to a 9.49 ERA, a 2.03 WHIP and a 16:9 K:BB in only 12 1/3 innings in 2022. Lamet will have a new opportunity in Colorado, but for now he's well off the fantasy radar.
The Milwaukee Brewers designated right-hander Dinelson Lamet and catcher Pedro Severino for assignment on Wednesday. Lamet was just acquired by the Brewers in the trade that sent left-handed closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres on Monday. Milwaukee likes Lamet, but their bullpen is extremely crowded at the major league level, even after trading Hader away. The Brew Crew also traded for veteran relievers Matt Bush and Trevor Rosenthal in recent days. If Lamet goes unclaimed on waivers, the Brewers will be able to keep him in the organization at Triple-A Nashville. Moved to the bullpen because of injuries by the Padres the last two years, Lamet allowed 13 earned runs on 16 hits in just 12 1/3 relief innings for the Friars this year before being traded to Milwaukee.
