Gavin Lux News
With Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts expected to move back to the infield and likely at second base next season, infielder Gavin Lux appears to be the odd-man out. Lux will especially be the odd-man out of the Dodgers end up bringing free-agent outfielder Teoscar Hernandez back. If the Dodgers don't decide to trade Lux this offseason, he'll most likely head to the bench if Betts becomes the primary second baseman in 2025. The Dodgers have both veteran Miguel Rojas and Tommy Edman as options to play shortstop. Lux was much better offensively in the second half of the regular season but struggled mightily at the plate in the first half and in the playoffs. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter batted .251/.320/.383 with a below-average .703 OPS, a career-high 10 homers, 50 RBI and five steals in 139 regular-season games after missing all of 2023 due to injury.

Gavin Lux Out Against Lefty On Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux will not start in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series on Thursday at Citi Field with New York Mets left-hander Jose Quintana on the mound. Chris Taylor will start at the keystone and bat ninth for the Dodgers instead. Lux left Game 1 of the NLCS on Sunday with hip-flexor tightness, sat out of Game 2 on Monday and returned to Game 3 on Wednesday to go 0-for-4 with a strikeout. He'll get another day off on Thursday with a southpaw on the mound in favor of Taylor, who has good numbers against Quintana in his career. In 24 career at-bats, Taylor has hit .333 (8-for-24) with three doubles, three RBI, two walks and eight strikeouts. However, he'll be looking for his first hit this postseason after going hitless in six plate appearances with a walk and four K's in six games (one start) this year.

Gavin Lux Back In The Lineup Against Mets
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux (hip) is back at the keystone and is hitting sixth for the Blue in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday at Citi Field against the New York Mets and right-hander Luis Severino. Lux was pulled from the Game 1 win early on Sunday with hip-flexor tightness and did not appear in the Game 2 loss on Monday, but after an off day on Tuesday, he's ready to roll as the series heads to the Big Apple. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter has never faced Severino in his career and comes into this contest batting .263 (5-for-19) with a home run, three RBI, two walks and four runs scored in six postseason starts for the Dodgers. There's not much power or speed to be had here, but he was able to drive in a career-high 50 runs in a stacked Dodgers lineup in 2024.

Dodgers Expect Gavin Lux Back In Game 3 Lineup
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that second baseman Gavin Lux (hip) "feels much better today," and the team expects him to be in the starting lineup for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday at Citi Field against the New York Mets and right-hander Luis Severino. Lux was removed from the Game 1 win on Sunday due to hip-flexor tightness and did not play in the Game 2 loss on Monday. However, the 26-year-old should be back in action on Wednesday with the series moving to the Big Apple. Lux has had a pretty solid postseason through six games, going 5-for-19 (.263) with a home run, three RBI, two walks and four runs scored. He has never faced Severino to this point in his career.

Gavin Lux Available Off The Bench In Game 2 Against Mets
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that second baseman Gavin Lux (hip) will be available off the bench but won't play defense for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday against the New York Mets at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are hoping that Lux will be back to full strength after the scheduled off day on Tuesday as the series heads to New York. Enrique Hernandez will make the start at the keystone and hit eighth on Monday against Mets left-hander Sean Manaea. Hip-flexor tightness forced Lux from the Game 1 win early on Sunday night, but he could be back in there against right-hander Luis Severino for Game 3 on Wednesday at Citi Field. Hernandez is on a three-game hit streak in the postseason and has gone 5-for-13 in four games with a homer and RBI. However, he has just one hit and an RBI in 11 career at-bats against Manaea, the Game 2 starter.

Gavin Lux Leaves Game 1 Early
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux left Game 1 of the NLCS early on Sunday due to a flare-up in his right hip flexor. Lux lobbied to stay in, but the Dodgers elected to play things safe with the game already 6-0 in the seventh inning. The 26-year-old is unlikely to play in Game 2 even if he is healthy as lefty Sean Manaea is tabbed to start. Lux has a good chance to return on Wednesday in Game 3 or even as a pinch-hitter on Monday.

Gavin Lux Endures Rough Evening
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux continued a frustrating trend when he struck out twice in Monday's 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. Lux, who finished 0-for-3, has struck out twice in four of his last six games as Monday's game offset a two-game stretch that saw him go 5-for-6 with a pair of homers, three RBI and three runs scored. He's hitting .222/.273/.330 with five homers, 27 RBI, and 31 runs scored with four steals in five attempts. Fantasy managers can find more consistent options at second as Lux appears unlikely to come close to the promise that once made him a top-tier prospect.

Gavin Lux Sitting Against A Lefty
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux is getting the day off on Friday against the hosting Detroit Tigers with a left-hander on the mound. With Lux on the bench, Chris Taylor will get the start at the keystone and will hit seventh against Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal. Lux just hasn't been able to figure it out offensively for the Dodgers while hitting near the bottom of their stacked lineup, and he's hitting just .191 (4-for-21) with none of his three home runs on the season against southpaws. Also, in the last 14 days, he's gone 6-for-35 (.171) with a homer, three RBI and five strikeouts in 12 games. There's no reason for DFS managers to be excited about Taylor on Friday, either, as he's hitting just .157 (8-for-51) with one of his three homers against lefties in 2024.

Gavin Lux, Jason Heyward Out Against A Southpaw
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux and outfielder Jason Heyward are both out of the lineup on Thursday with the team facing left-hander Ty Blach and the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Chris Taylor will take over at second base and bat ninth, while Teoscar Hernandez is in right field and batting cleanup for the Blue. Miguel Vargas will draw into left field and bat in the seven-hole. Taylor has hit .286 with an .833 OPS, a home run and four RBI in 28 career at-bats against Blach, but he's in the nine-hole and has hit just .115 (11-for-96) this year with a homer and nine RBI. Hernandez has never faced Blach in his career but is nevertheless an attractive DFS play in the heart of the Dodgers' batting order at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He's hitting .253 (20-for-79) with eight of his 18 homers this year against lefties.

Gavin Lux, Jason Heyward Out Against Lefty
Both Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Gavin Lux and outfielder Jason Heyward are sitting on Wednesday against the New York Mets with left-hander David Peterson on the mound. Mookie Betts will slide over to second base, allowing Miguel Rojas to enter the lineup at shortstop while hitting eighth in the batting order. Teoscar Hernandez shifts to right and Miguel Vargas will start in left field and bat in the nine-hole. It will be the second straight game on the bench for Lux after he sat out the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader. Lux has had a tough year in 2024, hitting just .205/.256/.281 with one homer and 12 RBI in 146 at-bats. Heyward has been even worse after missing a good chunk of time due to a back injury. The 34-year-old veteran is hitting .184 (7-for-38) with a homer and four RBI. It's hard to justify using either Rojas or Vargas in DFS lineups at the bottom of LA's lineup.
