Mariners
Veteran relief pitcher Heath Hembree has signed a minor-league contract with the Seattle Mariners. The 35-year-old righty had worked just 23 1/3 innings at the major league level over the last two seasons, compiling a poor 6.94 ERA and 1.886 WHIP in the process. He was with the Tampa Bay Rays last season, appearing in just one game. He will likely just serve as organizational depth in Seattle.

Daniel Vogelbach, Heath Hembree Placed On Injured List
The Pittsburgh Pirates placed first baseman Daniel Vogelbach (hamstring) and relief pitcher Heath Hembree (calf) on the injured list on Tuesday. Vogelbach is on the 10-day list while Hembree is on the 15-day list, retroactive to May 21. Right-handed pitcher Roansy Contreras was called up to start Tuesday's game in a corresponding move. Meanwhile, outfielder Cal Mitchell was recalled as well. Vogelbach is off to a solid start to his first year with the Pirates. Over 34 games, he's slashing .241/.321/.457 with six home runs, 14 RBI and 14 runs. His injury designation is a left hamstring strain.

Pirates Sign Heath Hembree
The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Tuesday that they signed free-agent relief pitcher Heath Hembree to an undisclosed one-year deal. Hembree spent the 2021 season pitching for the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds, posting a 5.59 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with nine saves in 58 innings over 60 relief appearances. The 33-year-old had a bit of bad luck (4.31 FIP), but he's not likely to be much of a fantasy asset in Pittsburgh, where he's projected to be a setup man ahead of co-closers David Bednar and Chris Stratton. Hembree might be one to look at in deep holds leagues, but he doesn't have a ton of upside with a 4.19 career ERA and 11 saves in nine major league seasons.

Heath Hembree Designated For Assignment
Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Heath Hembree was designated for assignment on Tuesday, according to C. Trent Rosencrans of The Athletic. Hembree had been in the mix for saves in Cincinnati for a while, but over his last seven innings of work he has allowed 13 runs on 10 hits and seven walks. For now, it appears that Mychal Givens is first in line for saves in the Reds' bullpen and will be followed by Michael Lorenzen. Hembree can be dropped in all formats.

Heath Hembree Blows Save On Tuesday
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Heath Hembree allowed three runs in 2/3 of an inning in a 7-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Hembree struck out two and walked two in the outing. He was called upon in the ninth inning to protect a 5-4 lead but instead walked the first two batters he faced and then served up a three-run homer to Jorge Polanco. Hembree was charged with the loss and a blown save in the game. Overall, Hembree has a 2-6 record, 5.40 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, eight saves, two blown saves, and 63 strikeouts over 38 1/3 innings of work. Hembree could be losing his grip on the ninth-inning role considering he's allowed at least an earned run in four straight appearances.

Heath Hembree Picks Up Second Save In As Many Days
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Heath Hembree threw a scoreless ninth inning to save a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Hembree did not allow a base-runner in the outing while picking up his second save in as many days. The veteran right-hander has been excellent of late, posting a 1.23 ERA, four saves, and 10 strikeouts spanning 7 1/3 innings over his past seven appearances. Hembree overall has eight saves as he has overtaken the ninth-inning role for the Reds this season. He has pitched well enough to hold onto the spot even after Tejay Antone and Lucas Sims return from the injured list.

Heath Hembree Picks Up Another Save
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Heath Hembree fired a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. Hembree struck out one and walked one to pick up the save in the win. The veteran reliever has acclimated himself nicely as the newest Cincinnati closer, picking up five saves in six chances while putting up a 1.69 ERA over six appearances in the month of July. While it is hard to predict what the Reds will do once relievers Tejay Antone and Lucas Sims return from the injured list, fantasy gamers in need of saves and strikeouts need to be adding Hembree off of waivers if he's available.

Heath Hembree Strikes Out The Side During Fifth Save
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Heath Hembree threw a scoreless ninth inning in a 2-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Hembree struck out all three batters he faced and was credited with the save in the contest. The veteran reliever has become an integral piece of the Cincinnati bullpen of late, having picked up four saves and posted a 2.08 ERA in the month of July. Overall, Hembree has a 2-4 record, 4.97 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, five saves, and 50 strikeouts over 29 innings of work. Considering the struggles of the Cincinnati bullpen this season, Hembree has made a compelling case to take over as the primary closer on the team. He needs to be added in fantasy leagues where he's available.

Overall, Hembree has a 5.14 ERA and four saves on the year.
