Jacob Barnes Designated For Assignment

New York Yankees relief pitcher Jacob Barnes has been designated for assignment to make room on the active roster for starter Chi Chi Gonzalez. The 32-year-old right-hander owns a 5.64 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 12:9 K/BB ratio over 22 1/3 innings of relief between the Tigers and the Yankees this season.

Jacob Barnes Records One-Out Save Thursday

New York Mets relief pitcher Jacob Barnes came on with two outs in the seventh inning to set down Ryan McMahon on a fly out and collect a one-out save in the second half of a doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies. It was Barnes' second save of the year, but Edwin Diaz is firmly entrenched in the closer role, and was simply unavailable after closing out the first game of the day. Barnes has no place on fantasy rosters.

Jacob Barnes Claimed Off Waivers By Mets

Right-handed reliever Jacob Barnes was claimed off waivers by the New York Mets on Friday. In 2020, with the Los Angeles Angels, the 30-year old posted an unimpressive 5.50 ERA, and 1.28 WHIP in 18 innings pitched. Notably, however, Barnes throws in the mid-to-upper 90s and posted a 2.25 FIP with 24 strikeouts in 2020. As such, there is some potential middle relief upside for the Mets with this move. That said, for purposes of fantasy, Barnes holds little value heading into 2021.

Jacob Barnes Rocked In Friday's Loss

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Jacob Barnes gave up three runs on three hits through his one inning of relief in Friday's loss to the Cardinals. Barnes was a potential candidate for saves while Jeremy Jeffress and Corey Knebel were out, but this outing may influence that. Barnes was given chances and saves last season and didn't come through for the Brewers, so more than likely the Brewers are going to continue to roll with Josh Hader for the high-leverage situations.

Joakim Soria Activated, Jacob Barnes Optioned to Triple A

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Joakim Soria has been activated for Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants. The newly-acquired righty will bring veteran experience to a fairly young Brewers bullpen. The acquisition of Soria also gives the Brewers another option in the ninth inning. Righty Jacob Barnes has been optioned to Triple A to make room for Soria on the active roster. Barnes has a 3.46 ERA and two saves in 39 innings this season with Milwaukee.

Jacob Barnes Recalled From Triple-A After Minor League Stint

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Jacob Barnes has been recalled back from Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox after a minor league stint. In 4 2/3 innings pitched for the Sky Sox, Barnes allowed three hits, two runs, and four walks in his short time with the team. In a corresponding move, Adrian Houser was sent down to Triple-A. Considering Barnes was struggling to keep the walks down when he was with the team before he got sent down carrying a 1.68 WHIP, he may need some time to find his game. He should not be owned in any format.

Jacob Barnes Optioned To Minors

The Milwaukee Brewers have sent right-handed pitcher Jacob Barnes down to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Barnes has struggled mightily in the month of May as he has given up four earned runs and 12 hits in a total of three innings pitched. He had been a dominant set up man in 2017, and was speculated to take over the closing role in Milwaukee after Corey Knebel's injury. However, he failed to do so, and now finds himself in the minor leagues. Barnes should get called back up in the near future, as this demotion is likely just the organization giving him time to gain his confidence back.

Jacob Barnes Gets Two-Inning Save

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Jacob Barnes went two innings on Wednesday, giving up one hit and striking out three in the 2-0 victory while locking down his second save of 2018. His first save of the season goes all the way back to Opening Day when he locked down an extra-inning save. Considering Josh Hader had been in for two two-inning saves prior to this game, this isn't necessarily indicative of Barnes getting to close games. One of Hader's saves came Tuesday, so it only made sense that he wasn't available to go Wednesday. Until Corey Knebel gets back, it now looks like Hader will get most of the saves. In terms of who is next in line, considering Matt Albers hasn't pitched since April 15 and Barnes was given the go ahead to pitch two innings, it seems Albers most likely won't see any save situations in the meantime. Barnes is now up to a 1.80 ERA in 10 innings pitched with 10 strikeouts and is a good relief option in deeper leagues, as the closing situation in Milwaukee is still confusing.

Jacob Barnes Blows Save In Loss

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Jacob Barnes gave up two walks, two wild pitches and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning in the 5-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Barnes was absolutely all over the place, as he gave up two wild pitches, one of which put Tommy Pham on third, and then one that allowed Pham to score. Barnes then proceeded to walk Dexter Fowler right after and was very lucky to make it out of the ninth inning with a tie game. Barnes was one of three Brewers pitchers to be saddled with a blown save, and that now puts him at two blown saves on the year. With Matt Albers blowing the save Monday night -- but he came out for a very strong second inning -- they may give some looks to Dan Jennings or Jeremy Jeffress for save opportunities in the future. However, Albers looks to be the safest bet thus far.

Jacob Barnes Has A Night To Forget

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Jacob Barnes went 2/3 of an inning, giving up four runs (two earned), three hits, two walks and was ultimately rewarded with the loss and the blown save. Barnes didn't exactly get the help from his infield as Travis Shaw and Orlando Arcia committed crucial errors that played a part in the Cubs ninth-inning comeback, but he wasn't necessarily great either. In between the two errors, Barnes walked Jason Heyward and intentionally walked Kris Bryant, while Ben Zobrist and Ian Happ drove in runs on their singles. With the Brewers closer spot wide open because of the injury to Corey Knebel, these types of games don't help Barnes' case to pile up saves. Matt Albers is definitely the safer reliever to own right now.
