Rockies
The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that they agreed to re-sign catcher Jacob Stallings to an undisclosed one-year deal that includes a mutual option for the 2026 season. Stallings became a free agent this offseason after declining his portion of a mutual option for 2025, but he now finds himself back with the Rockies for at least another season. The 34-year-old veteran backstop found himself working as the team's primary catcher down the stretch in 2024 and he finished with a .263/.357/.453 slash line, an impressive .810 OPS, a career-high nine home runs, 36 RBI and 31 runs scored in 281 trips to the plate over 82 games played for Colorado. Stallings will give the Rockies extra catching depth again next year, but fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting him to serve as the lead backstop all year. Drew Romo and perhaps even Hunter Goodman should factor in at the position.

Jacob Stallings Putting Together Strong Season
Colorado Rockies catcher Jacob Stallings rapped three extra-base hits in Wednesday afternoon's win over the visiting Boston Red Sox, recording four RBI in the blowout victory. Before poking an RBI double down the left-field line to drive in his fourth run of the game, Stallings golfed a ball to left field for a three-run home run to break the game open and give the Rockies an 8-1 lead. The 34-year-old veteran backstop is known for his glove behind the dish, but he's putting together his strongest offensive season to date, slashing .272/.366/.456 with five long balls, 12 doubles, 24 RBI, and 20 runs scored through 158 at-bats as Colorado's backup catcher. Fantasy managers in two-catcher leagues could do worse.

Jacob Stallings Hits Three-Run Homer Thursday
Colorado Rockies catcher Jacob Stallings went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in a 5-4 loss to the Miami Marlins on Thursday. Stallings kicked off the scoring for the Rockies with a three-run blast off Edwin Cabrera in the second inning, but it wasn't enough for the Rockies as they fell to Miami in extra innings. Stallings has been swinging a hot bat as the backup catcher in Colorado as he's batting .345 with one homer, four runs, and five RBI across 29 at-bats. That being said, he will need to see more consistent playing time to work his way into the conversation as a fantasy option.

Rockies To Sign Jacob Stallings, Dakota Hudson
The Colorado Rockies are expected to sign free-agent catcher Jacob Stallings and right-hander Dakota Hudson to undisclosed one-year deals on Friday, according to a source. Both Stallings and Hudson were non-tendered by the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, respectively. Stallings should serve as the backup to Elias Diaz in 2024 after hitting .210/.287/.290 with seven home runs and 54 RBI in 202 games for the Fish the last two seasons. Hudson had a 4.64 ERA (4.60 FIP) and 1.47 WHIP with a weak 13 percent strikeout rate in his last two seasons with the Cardinals over 221 innings and 45 outings (38 starts). The 29-year-old has a good shot to open the 2024 season in Colorado's starting rotation, but Coors Field isn't usually a place where pitchers go to turn things around.

Jacob Stallings Catching In Game 2
Miami Marlins catcher Jacob Stallings is in the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's Game 2 of the Wild Card round versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Nick Fortes got the nod behind the plate for Game 1. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout, so the Marlins decided to go in a different direction for Game 2. Stallings will cover behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Aaron Nola on Wednesday. Stallings doesn't offer much upside with the bat, so he won't be a great fantasy option for this contest.

Jacob Stallings Exits With Ankle Soreness On Friday
Miami Marlins catcher Jacob Stallings (ankle) came out of Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves with left ankle soreness. The 33-year-old finished 0-for-2 before he left, appearing to hurt himself during a swing in the fifth inning. Stallings should be deemed day-to-day. Nick Fortes took over behind the plate and should pick up extra lineup action if Stallings needs to miss time. The defensive-minded Stallings is slashing an anemic .184/.275/.237 with eight RBI across 133 plate appearances this season.

Marlins Swing Trade For Jacob Stallings
The Miami Marlins have acquired catcher Jacob Stallings in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, sending back starting pitcher Zach Thompson and two minor leaguers, pitcher Kyle Nicolas and outfielder Connor Scott. The 31-year-old Stallings is known for his defensive acumen, winning a Gold Glove in 2021. He's slashed .251/.331/.374 with 17 homers in 780 career plate appearances. Thompson has a shot to crack Pittsburgh's starting rotation after making 14 starts and posting a 3.24 ERA in 75 innings in 2021. Neither player should be drafted in standard formats, but each could become relevant as the season wears on.

Jacob Stallings Not In Thursday's Lineup
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Jacob Stallings is not in the starting lineup Thursday to take on the Cincinnati Reds, according to MLB.com. Stallings is slashing .242/.330/.371 with eight home runs over 107 games. His value is mostly limited to NL-only and OBP leagues, with less than ideal power and batting average. Michael Perez will catch and bat seventh. Perez has almost no value in fantasy, hitting just .144 and with a .532 OPS. Look elsewhere for catching help on the waiver wire.

Jacob Stallings Has Three Hits In Loss Friday
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a 4-3 loss to the Cardinals on Friday. It was his third multi-hit performance in his last five games, as he's now slashing .240/.330/.378 with eight homers, 47 RBI and 31 runs scored over 95 games this season. He's a serviceable option in deeper NL-only leagues and two-catcher formats, otherwise his fantasy value is very limited.

Jacob Stallings Blasts Walk-Off Homer On Saturday
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Jacob Stallings went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, four RBI and a run scored in a 9-7 win over the Mets on Saturday. Stallings walked off the Mets with a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, as that was his eighth homer of the year. After Saturday's performance, Stallings is now slashing .239/.325/.420 with 40 RBI and 23 runs scored over 68 games. He's a solid catcher to roster in deeper formats and two-catcher leagues, and in a pinch he can be used as a short-term injury replacement in 10- and 12-team formats.
