Cole Tucker Out With Concussion, Jose Osuna Recalled

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Cole Tucker was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list prior to Thursdays contest versus St. Louis. To take his place on the active roster, the team recalled Jose Osuna from its alternate training site. Tucker has been shifted to the outfield full-time in 2020, although that hasnt materialized into production at the dish, as he has compiled a .527 OPS across 37 games. The rebuilding nature of the Bucs has allowed Tucker to see extended run, but his production hasnt delivered very much fantasy intrigue. Without him in the mix, look for Pittsburgh to deploy the outfield group of Adam Frazier, Bryan Reynolds, and Gregory Polanco with considerable frequency.

Jose Osuna To Benefit From DH In National League

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder/first baseman Jose Osuna, who has mostly been a bench bat for the team the last three years, stands to benefit from the universal designated hitter in 2020. Osuna hasn't played more than 104 games or recorded more than 285 plate appearances in a single season. The Pirates plan to rotate players through the DH spot, which should allow regulars like Josh Bell, Colin Moran and Gregory Polanco to take days off from playing defense. Osuna had 10 home runs, 20 doubles, 36 RBI and a league-average 100 OPS+ in 2019, but he can offer some power in deep mixed and NL-only leagues if he sees everyday at-bats in the 60-game season.

Jose Osuna Has Two Hits Off The Bench Sunday

Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Jose Osuna went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI in Sunday's 13-2 loss at the hands of the Mets. Osuna came into the game as a defensive replacement for Josh Bell in the sixth inning and proceeded to hit a double and a home run in his only two at-bats. He has been on fire of late, having driven in eight runs in his last seven games. At this point, Osuna is not a full-time player and cannot be counted on in fantasy leagues.

Jose Osuna Cleared For Baseball Activities

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jose Osuna (neck) has been cleared for full baseball activities in extended spring training and will likely move to a simulated game next week. Osuna has yet to play in 2019 and will mostly just be outfield depth when he returns to the Pirates. His chance to see more playing time would've been this month, as Gregory Polanco (shoulder) is still recovering from surgery last season. Even if Osuna makes it back before Polanco does, his ownership should be limited to NL-only leagues.

Jose Osuna Placed On Injured List

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder Jose Osuna (neck) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday. Osuna had a chance to be on the Opening Day roster as a bench bat, and he likely would've seen some playing time in right field with Gregory Polanco (shoulder) not expected to return until May. Instead, Melky Cabrera will get the first shot in right field on Opening Day and will bat seventh in the lineup.

Jose Osuna To Be Examined This Week

Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Jose Osuna didn't make the trip to Houston because of lower neck discomfort, and he will return to Pittsburgh this week for further testing. It looks likely that Osuna will start the year on the injured list, and there's no timetable for his return. The 26-year-old hit .226 with three home runs and 11 RBI for Pittsburgh in just 51 games last season. He's not on the fantasy radar.

Jose Osuna Starts At First Base

Pittsburgh Pirates corner infielder Jose Osuna will get the start at first base Wednesday. Sean Rodriguez, playing left field, and catcher Elias Diaz will also get starts against the left-handed Brent Suter. David Freese will also spell Colin Moran at third base. According to Rob Biertempfel, weather may be a factor for the game. With all the roster changes the Pirates lineup will be: Josh Harrison, Austin Meadows, Starling Marte, Freese, Diaz, Osuna, Jordy Mercer, Rodriguez, and the pitchers spot

Pirates Call Up Jose Osuna

The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up corner infielder Jose Osuna from the Indianapolis Indians. They also activated relief pitcher Richard Rodriguez from the 10-day disabled list. To make room for these two, the Bucs have optioned relief pitcher Dovydas Neverauskas and catcher Jacob Stallings to Triple-A. Osuna has been dominating minor league pitchers with a .340 average and 31 RBI in 40 games. The Pirates have a set infield, but you may see Osuna play against lefties and to spell the regulars. He doesn't have much fantasy value.

Pirates Option Jose Osuna to Triple-A

The Pittsburgh Pirates are officially going with an eight-man bullpen, as first baseman Jose Osuna was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday. Osuna led the team with five home runs and 16 RBI during spring training and was competing for the final bench spot. The club decided to go with a four-man bench consisting of Adam Frazier, Sean Rodriguez, Elias Diaz, and David Freese instead. Frazier is the only reserve worth a look for fantasy managers. He should see plenty of time all over the diamond as a utility player and will also bat leadoff at times. The 26-year-old hit .276/.344/.399 with six home runs, 53 RBI, and nine stolen bases in 2017.
