Jose Peraza Reinstated From The Injured List

The New York Mets reinstated infielder Jose Peraza (finger) from the injured list on Wednesday. Outfielder Albert Almora Jr. was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Peraza was sidelined for nearly two months due to a fractured right middle finger. He was seeing semi-regular playing time earlier in the season when the Mets were bombarded with injuries. The Mets are a bit more intact now, at least in the infield, and they also added Javier Baez while Peraza was injured. As a result, Peraza will be relegated to a reserve role going forward. He came in as a pinch-hitter in his first game back on Wednesday and went on to deliver an RBI single in the seventh inning.

Jose Peraza Lands On Injured List With Fractured Finger

New York Mets second baseman Jose Peraza (finger) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a fractured right middle finger, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Peraza appears to have suffered the injury at some point during Monday night's win over the Reds, in which he entered the game as a late-inning replacement and went 0-for-2 with a run scored. Over 52 games this season, Peraza is slashing .205/.263/.402 with six home runs, 19 RBI and 20 runs scored. Peraza has been used almost exclusively off the bench, so this injury will have minimal impact in fantasy.

Jose Peraza Drives In Two In Nightcap

New York Mets second baseman Jose Peraza finished up a very solid day Thursday evening, going 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI against the Rockies after homering in the first game of the day. Peraza accounted for all three RBI on the day for the Mets, and he raised his OPS to .671 in the process. Though proving to still be capable of contributing at the major league level, Peraza still doesn't provide enough in either the homer or steals category to be a viable fantasy option.

Jose Peraza Hits Second Home Run

New York Mets second baseman Jose Peraza accounted for the only run of Thursday afternoon's game, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the first game of a doubleheader. The home run was the only blemish on Colorado starter German Marquez's record, and proved to be enough to give the Mets the win. Peraza has been the everyday second baseman for New York with Jeff McNeil injured, but his .643 OPS is not enough to make him fantasy relevant. Peraza used to be a prolific base-stealer, with more than 20 swiped bags in three straight seasons from 2016 to 2018, but those days appear to be behind him. He's not worth adding to fantasy rosters.

Jose Peraza Leaves Friday's Game After Being Hit By Pitch

New York Mets second baseman Jose Peraza (calf) was taken out of Friday's game against the Miami Marlins in the fourth inning after he was hit by a pitch on his right calf. Wilfredo Tovar entered the game as his replacement. After the game, Mets manager Luis Rojas said that Peraza's leg got tight really quick. He said, "He was struggling to really walk because of the tightness." Rojas also added, "We'll reassess this tomorrow and see how he is." Add Peraza to the constantly growing list of Mets injuries. We'll see if he's able to get back out on the field on Saturday.

Jose Peraza Exits After Being Hit By Line Drive While Pitching

Boston Red Sox utilityman Jose Peraza attempted to take one for the team Thursday, taking to the mound for the third time in his career as his team entered the ninth down by 11 runs. He was unable to complete the frame after a line drive off his right leg knocked him from the game. Peraza had collected two hits prior to his departure, bringing his average on the year up to .262. Despite having taken over full-time duties at second base this year, Peraza has brought little pop to the position, having collected just three extra-base hits since Opening Day, two of which came Thursday. Boston did not have an immediate update on Perazas status, but Jonathan Arauz would figure to step in should he be sidelined Friday against the Yankees and right-hander Gerrit Cole.

Jose Peraza Leading Off Sunday

Boston Red Sox second baseman Jose Peraza will handle leadoff duties Sunday vs Orioles starter Wade LeBlanc. Peraza was in the nine-hole for the team's first two games, but had a big night Friday vs another lefty starter so he's in the leadoff spot today vs LeBlanc. If he's to lead off, even just vs left-handers, that would be a big boost to his fantasy value. Last season, Peraza batted .287 vs southpaws compared to .220 vs righties. At $2,700 on DraftKings Peraza is a great DFS play atop a good Boston lineup.

Jose Peraza Produces Four-Hit Performance On Opening Day

Boston Red Sox second baseman Jose Peraza got off to a hot start at the plate in Friday's 13-2 victory against the Orioles, as the 26-year-old went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI at the bottom of the lineup. Peraza posted a pair of doubles to go along with his four-hit performance. Peraza, who signed a one-year deal with the Red Sox in the offseason, will have a chance to play regularly and the productive start to the plate will only help his chances of getting consistent at-bats moving forward. Peraza is worth grabbing in deep formats for his positional versatility, high batting average, and ability to provide stolen bases.

Jose Peraza In Line To Start At Second Base

Boston Red Sox infielder Jose Peraza is currently in line to be the regular starting second baseman this year, and he could receive additional starts at shortstop and third base when Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers need a day off. "I didn't realize he was this good defensively," manager Ron Roenicke said. "We're really pleased with everything he's doing." It's good news for Peraza's fantasy value in deeper leagues as a sleeper. Michael Chavis might not see as much time at the keystone now, but he'll still mix in at first base with Mitch Moreland. Peraza, 26, broke out in 2018 by hitting .288 with 14 home runs and 23 stolen bases, but he struggled to a .239 average, six homers and seven steals in 2019. With a better lineup around him and a starting gig, Peraza could be a steal in 2020.

Jose Peraza Could Be Favorite To Start At 2B

Boston Red Sox middle infielder Jose Peraza could be the favorite to start the 2020 season as the everyday second baseman, in the opinion of The Boston Globe's Julian McWilliams. It would definitely be nice for those seeking stolen bases late in mixed league drafts. However, let us remind you that we don't even have an idea yet when the regular season will begin, and Peraza must produce in order to avoid losing playing time at the keystone to Michael Chavis. Chavis might not have the glove or the speed, but he can hit for more power and can also play first base. Peraza, 26 at the end of April, is ranked just outside RotoBaller's top 400 players, but he'll see a bit more of a bump if it turns out that he'll be playing regularly to begin the 2020 campaign.
